Puppy Dog or Bitch (2, 0abs)

1. Foster & Jones Stormpasture Juliette – 10 month old blanket tri. A very eye catching young bitch who presented a lovely outline. Good, clean head with dark eye. Correct bite and long neck leading into a level topline. Tight feet and correct tailset. Great front and rear construction with well laid back shoulders, good length of upper arm and well bent stifles allowing her to move with reach and drive around the ring. Pleased to watch her take Puppy Group 1.

2. Goldberg’s Broadshore Vedette at Molesend – A more open marked 10 month old tri bitch. Longer cast but still balanced. Very sweet girl with a lovely head and expression. Well set leathers, forelegs straight and pasterns short. Topline straight and level and well-muscled. Moved freely and soundly but just felt that 1 had the better front angulation.

Post Graduate Dog or Bitch (5, 3abs)

1. Goldberg’s Molesend Orlando (Al) – Blanket Tri dog of 11 months. Masculine, solid boy with great bone. Dark eye and correct bite. Level topline and short coupled. Well-muscled and good depth of chest. Firm hocks and correct tailset. Parallel on the move coming and going. Angulated well in front and rear construction which he used to his advantage on the move striding freely with reach and drive.

2. Theobald & Butter’s Brigam Lace Stockings of Breskar – 3 year old Tan & White bitch. Feminine, compact girl. Pleasing head and expression with good pigmentation. Correct bite and tight feet. Long neck and a straight, level topline. Moved freely with reach and drive but just felt the movement of 1 was cleaner coming towards me.

3. Jones Clairdale Caesar

Open Dog or Bitch (6, 1 abs)

This class was headed by two real quality hounds; I want to thank the owners for allowing me to go over such lovely dogs.

1. Foster & Jones Ch Stormpasture Holimoli – 5 year old blanket tri dog. My notes simply say “wow”, this a dog I’ve admired from the ringside for a long time and I was not disappointed going over him today. Presented a lovely outline, sturdy and so balanced. Clean head with appealing expression and long leathers. Correct bite. Long neck and firm, level topline. Straight forelegs well under him and short coupled. Well-muscled. Perfect fore and aft angulation with shoulders well laid back and equal length of upper arm. Stifles well bent, hocks firm and parallel. He really excels in movement with such showmanship. Moves so soundly with long, free strides and driving well from behind. Couldn’t deny him this class and BOB.

2. Bailey’s Ch Newlin Victor of Salenko JW Sh.CM – 8 year old Tan & White dog. Another quality hound still looking fantastic for his age. Balanced and has everything in the right place. Handsome head with mild appealing expression and dark eyes. Good length of neck, forelegs straight and upright. T|ight feet and good depth of chest. Short pasterns and hocks firm. Topline level and correct tailset. Good bone but not overdone. Great fore and rear construction allowing him to move freely and soundly around the ring. Just unlucky to meet 1 today but pushed for 1st place.

YKC HANDLING CLASSES

6- 11 years (8, 0 abs)

1. Tamsin Blyton – handling a Boxer. A very composed young handler who had no trouble handling a larger breed, encouraging him at all times. Great pattern work executed correctly and neatly. Tamsin was aware of her dog at all times and other handlers within the ring. She was also the only handler in the class to not break that golden rule of coming between dog and judge. Well done and good luck at Crufts next year!

2. Abigail Chandler – handling a Border Terrier. A smart young that handled her dog with ease. Pattern work was neat and precise. Very patient and aware of others around her. Just came between dog and judge before moving off on the pattern, but well done!

12 – 16 years (5, 0 abs)

1. Katherine O’Brien – handling a Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen. A quietly confident handling. I felt Katherine had the best pattern work in this class. Corners neat, lines straight and shadowed my movements well. She showed her dog’s teeth well which can be difficult with a bearded breed. I felt a lovely relationship between the two which is always lovely. Well done and good luck at Crufts next year!

2. Rebecca Dobson – handling a Miniature Schnauzer. A well turned out handler who handled her dog with ease and no fuss. Shadowed my movements in the ring well and used the full space of the ring. Lines straight but just felt corners could have been neater at the top of the triangle, but well done!

17 – 24 years (6, 1 abs)

1. Louise Robson – handling a Pyrenean Sheepdog. A smart handler who informed me it was her first time in the older handling category. You wouldn’t tell as she had an excellent, polished performance. Handled her dog calmly with no fuss and pattern work was executed neatly and precisely. Shadowed my movements well and was aware of others in the ring. Well done and good luck at Crufts next year!

2. Thomas F Casentieri – handling a Tibetan Terrier. Another smart handler who made good use of the ring. Patient and encouraged his dog at all times. Shadowed my movements well and performed patterns correctly and neatly with sharp corners. Just stacked a tad too close when gaited with other handler, but well done.
