Setter Irish Red and White.

Firstly I would like to thank the Committee of the Dog section of the County Show, living in Stafford it was an immense honour to be able to judge at our County Show. Thanks also go to the exhibitors for allowing me to go over their special dogs. J(3,1). 1, Collins’ Romaunt Bloomin Grand at Forestpoint. A substantial well built young man for his age, good round dark eye and correct ear set on a typical to type head shape, good lay of shoulder, level top line leading to correct tail set, strong first thigh at rear with plenty of muscle, nice angulation front and rear, prominent fore chest and deep rib cage, good amount of coat for one so young, clean tight feet, moved comfortably and with reach considering the length of the grass. BP.  2, Barneys’ Romaunt Ain’t Life Grand.

PG (1). 1, Taylors’ Laoirebay Midnight Drifter, 2 year old very boisterous young man, Strong head with a good overall outline, good dark round eye, correct ear set, well-built front giving lots of strength and power, good top line leading to muscular rear, both first and second thighs felt strong and powerful, angulation for rear was slightly better than the front. In the ring movement was a little hit and miss, I had earlier witnessed dog and handler practising at a far, so knew he could move correctly, the dog obviously preferred to have some fun with the handler. O (2). 1, Barney and Howatsons’ SH CH Killary’s Grand Venture with Vanders and Romaunt JW (IMP USA), A lovely young man. Pleasant expressionful head, correct dimensions giving good eye and ear set. Very strong neck leading into good lay of shoulder, flat top line to correct tail set, first-class depth to chest with good spring of rib. Good quality angulation to front giving nice prominent fore chest. Strong first thigh, with good bend of stifle enhancing the rear angles. Overall outline was very pleasing which when on the move looked stunning, good gate, positive clean foot placement, presented in a very good condition. BOB. 2, Barcroft’s Ballakinnish Muse. Judge; Graham Hart (Gilliegrae).
