East Midlands Staffordshire Bull Terrier Club Limited Show 31st January 2016
Judge; Lesley McDonald (Tusselstaff)
I would like to start by saying a huge thank you to all those exhibitors who gave me the honour of assessing their dogs at my first breed show appointment and the sporting manner in which all placings were accepted. I thoroughly enjoyed my day and some of the classes really did make me work. A couple of mouth faults were noted but on the whole mouths were generally good. I would also like to thank my two very able stewards (Terri Morrell and Mason Coleman) who kept the proceedings flowing smoothly throughout the day and thanks also go to the committee for my beautiful gift.

1 Dejablues Destiny’s Prince
Smart black brindle dog with well proportioned head, distinct stop, dark eye and neat ears. Plenty of lift on this boy, he has a good straight front, although his handler can stand him a little narrow at times. He has a pleasing profile with enough brisket for age, level topline and ample spring of rib. He really made his handler work today, but his movement is ok once settled. He is a nice pup, best of luck with him.

1 Taraiel Darth Vader
Black brindle dog with the cleanest of heads, dark round eyes, correct ear set and alert expression. He has a straight front displaying enough depth and width, well up on pasterns, good lay of shoulder and good length of upper arm. He displays good overall balance with a pleasing profile, has a level topline and good tuck up. Handled well and presented in good condition for age. BEST PUPPY DOG
2 Biggleswick Splash of Ginge
Standard red with white dog, good muzzle to skull ratio, small rose ears, dark eyes and typical expression. He has a well boned front, good spring of rib for age, level topline, is short coupled and has good bend of stifle. Just preferred the overall profile of 1st but a nice pup none the less, moved and handled very well

1 Illori Akinlana
Quality black brindle dog with lots to like. He has a clean and unexaggerated head of good proportions, good ear set and dark round eyes, all making for an appealing expression (and even more so when he does decide to use those ears). A well constructed and well balanced dog, he has a sound front, though his handler needs to check that she doesn’t stand him over wide at times, he has well placed shoulders, a nice amount of lift, good topline and nice tuck up. He has good angulations front and rear and is well let down at the hocks. Moved and handled well and pleased to award him RESERVE BEST DOG
2 Rowellstaff Ooh Arr Cantona
Red dog with white, he has a good head shape, broad skull and distinct stop with dark eyes and dark mask, all making for a typical and pleasing expression. He has well boned front quarters, plenty of rib, decent topline and good bend of stifle. Movement was difficult to assess as this boy really did made his handler work on the day, despite being given a number of chances to walk. Please do put the effort in with him as he is a nice dog.

1 Bullbrothers Fifth Element
Dark brindle with white dog that has a good head shape, deep stop, dark well set eyes, good cheek muscles and well placed ears. He has a straight front, ample brisket and spring of rib. Shown in good condition, I would just prefer tidier feet on this boy. Moved and handled ok
PGD (8, 2 abs)
1 Smokemonts Back to Black
Black brindle dog with strong head, good ratio of foreface to skull, dark eyes and good expression. He has a well boned front, good depth of brisket, ribcage well sprung and clean outlines. I feel he would benefit from being just a tad fitter and I do mean just a tad. Another who made his handler work for his place though his movement is ok once settled and he focuses his attention.
2 Satip Plumm Boy
Black brindle dog with strong head, dark eye, good length of muzzle and strong under jaw. He has a straight front, pleasing amount of lift, good topline and strong rear quarters. Nice feet but darker nails would complete the picture. Presented in good condition, moved and handled well
3 Bullbrothers Dr Who

1 Garforth King
Topsize black brindle dog who caught my eye straight away. He has a super head shape, strong but not over done, darkest of eyes and well set ears, all making for a great expression. With much to admire, he is very well balanced with no exaggerations. His front is straight and true, with good depth of brisket, ample spring of rib, good bend of stifle and good rear angulations. Standing foursquare he exhibits a lovely profile and was presented in fit condition with gleaming coat. Fought hard for best in show but just unlucky to meet two exceptional bitches on the day, however I was pleased to award him BEST DOG
2 Little Beau Geste
Quality black brindle dog with white. He has a clean and expressive head of good proportions, well pronounced cheek muscles, dark eyes and distinct stop. Very similar attributes to 1st in many ways; he has a beautiful clean front, level topline, good angulations front and rear and is nicely balanced. Moved and handled well, I just preferred the head and expression of 1st

1 Willowstaff Black Marauder
Black brindle dog shown in fit condition. He has the cleanest of heads with nothing overdone, dark eyes, neat ears and good expression. He has the best of fronts, with shoulders well laid back; well up on pasterns and neat padded feet. He displays good rear angulations, good tuck up and is light in the loins. Moved and handled well, it is hard to believe he is actually a veteran now

1 Nizeva Va Nessa
Stunning black brindle bitch with virtue in abundance. She has a beautiful head, not overdone in any way, with the darkest of eyes, neat rose ears and a wicked expression. When she manages to keep all four feet on the ground and show herself off she displays a good front, enough depth of brisket for age, level topline and good angulations. She really did seem to have fun making her handler work on the day, however when she eventually settles her movement is good. Still very much a youngster, I feel she is full of promise and one I wouldn’t hesitate to bring back home with me. Pleased to award her BEST PUPPY BITCH and BEST PUPPY in SHOW
2 Biggleswick Fifty Fifty
Very attractive red bitch with white. She has a clean and feminine head, dark eyes and neat ear carriage and I just loved her expression. With lots to like, she has a good straight front, enough spring of rib for this age, just a tad longer caste than 1st place, good bend of stifle and a pleasing profile. Just unlucky to meet 1st in the same class today

Her front is straight and true, well up in the pasterns, has good spring of rib, nice tuck up, good bend of stifle and is well let down at the hocks. She is exceptionally well balanced and looks good from every angle. Presented in tip top condition, this girl doesn’t need a handler, she shows herself off to perfection. Another I would happily take home with me and I was pleased to award her RESERVE BEST BITCH and RESERVE BEST in SHOW
2 Alport Remembrance
Standard black brindle bitch with lovely head shape, strong yet still feminine, with dark well set eyes and neat ears. She has well boned forequarters, deep brisket; enough bend of stifle and was shown in good condition. Moved and handled ok

1 Assilio Jupiters New Star
Feminine brindle bitch with white chest who was also 3rd in PB. She has a clean head of good proportions, nice length of muzzle and dark eyes. Still very immature at the moment, her movement was very difficult to assess as she preferred to dash up the mat one way and refused to come back the other way. I am sure as she gains in confidence she will begin to enjoy her day in the ring

Black brindle bitch with attractive head shape, clean and proportionate, dark eyes and good expression, especially when she decides to use those ears. 2 Willowstaff Eternal Flame
Top size quality red bitch who I have judged before. With much to like on this girl she has a clean, expressive head, feminine but certainly not lacking, dark eyes and good ear carriage all making for a super expression. Her front is sound and true, she has plenty of lift, shoulders well laid back and good length of upper arm. A well constructed bitch she holds a level topline, both static and on the move and displays a super profile. Moved and handled very well

1 Taraiel Lorde
Quality black brindle bitch with white, who I have judged before. With plenty of virtue she just improves with age. I adore her head shape, clean and all in proportion, dark eyes and good ear set, all making for an expression that is to die for. Her front is wide enough and straight, she has good angulations front and rear, is well balanced throughout and is pleasing from all angles. Her coat was gleaming and she was another shown in tip top condition. Moved and handled very well, she is another I would take home in a heartbeat. Pleased to award her BEST BITCH and BEST in SHOW
VB (6, 2 abs)
I have to confess that this was such a hard class to judge as they were all such beautiful old ladies and all deserved a red rosette
