Heckington & District Agricultural Society

Many thanks to the owners for bringing your lovely hounds today, was a pleasure and a privilege to go over them all. Also thank you to the committee for your invitation to judge and my stewards. Some hounds were a little unsettled by a few distractions from the rest of the show which was a shame but all hounds were in great condition.

BASSET GRIFFON VENDEEN (PETIT)

Puppy Dog or Bitch (1,0abs)

1. Watson & Kenna’s Black Majesty Grace Kelly Avec Cynetkoy (Imp HRV) – This 11month old bitch presented a good outline with a great head and intelligent expression. Muzzle square and correct bite. Well up to size. Nicely laid shoulders and well developed forehand for her age. Level topline and stifles well bent. She moved with purpose, a little loose coming towards me but should settle with time. RBOB & BPIB

Graduate Dog or Bitch (1,0abs)

1. Salmon’s Jaclin Too Cool for School at Scarscot – 17 month old bitch. She has lovely, dark, oval eyes and correct set ears. Good length of neck into well laid shoulders. Would have preferred a more level topline but well-muscled and nicely angulated hindquarters. Moved out well, sound coming and going.

Open Dog or Bitch (1,1abs)

1. Salmon’s Stinton Burdock – Sweet 3 year old male. Correct head properties and bite. Well set shoulder and good length of upper arm. Forelegs straight and pasterns strong. Chest deep and short loin. Topline level and good bend of stifle. Hocks well let down. In super coat and condition. Moved with reach and drive. BOB

Puppy Dog or Bitch (1,0abs)

1. Pearson’s Armardio Almost an Angel – 10 month old Red & White bitch. Promising youngster. Gorgeous head and expression. Correct bite and long, arched neck. Great front assembly and feet. Ribs well sprung and level topline. Nicely muscled throughout, correct tailset and in lovely condition. Carried herself so well around the ring with drive. Pushed her kennelmate in the challenge for BOB, two lovely Bassets. RBOB & BPIB

1. Pearson’s Roamanbay Russia with Love to Armardio JW – 2 year old Red & White bitch of great size and substance. She had a calm expression, dark eyes and correct earset. Shoulders well laid back, chest deep with her elbows sitting well. Nicely angulated rear, correctly bent stifles and hocks well let down. She moved easily and freely around the ring keeping good distance behind. BOB

1. Christoffersen’s Demerlay Evening Mist – A smart 10 month old bitch. Red fawn with white trim. She has an alert expression and correct ears. Good forehand construction and straight front. Ribs well sprung. Nicely muscled hindquarters and well arched feet. Moved soundly and carried her tail well. BPIB

Graduate Dog or Bitch (4,1abs)

1. Shaw’s Supeta’s So Squiffy – 15 month old fawn brindle & white particolour male. He presented a lovely, graceful outline. Pleasing head and expression. Shoulders flat and well angulated with correct length of upper arm. Front well filled, back firm and strong loin. Covered the ground well on the move which won him the class. RBOB

2. Grant’s Oakbark Magic over Windfly – 17 month old fawn with white trim bitch. She has dark eyes and a feminine head. Correct bite, decent neck and shoulders. Pasterns strong and well angulated hindquarters. Kept good distance behind of the move. Felt 1 had better reach in front.

1. Mitchell’s Denmanwood Decision Sh.CM – 3 year old fawn with white trim bitch. Really liked this girl. She had a lovely head and expression. Well arched neck leading into nicely laid shoulders. Deep chest and brisket. Well-muscled throughout. Good bend of stifle giving her great drive when in action. She really comes into her own on the move, carried her topline well and flowed effortlessly around the ring. Brilliantly handled. BOB

2. Grant’s Demerlay Plumbcreek Dixie of Sejoda – 4 year old brindle with white trim bitch. Pretty headpiece. Correct ears and bite. Ribs well sprung and nice tuck up. Well made fore and aft. Felt she didn’t quite move as well as the winner.

1. Lancashire & O’Donnell’s Shimalma Mango Sunrise over Drishaun – 14 month old red bitch. Balanced young lady in good coat for her age. Pleasing eye and head. Long sloping shoulders and straight forelegs. Good depth of chest, back level and firm. Short in loin and well angulated hindquarters. Moved freely and soundly with reach and drive. BOB

2. Lancashire’s Drishuan A Black Tie Affair – Black and Tan male who was two years old today. Typical head and expression with dark eyes. Correct bite. Neck strong leading into good shoulders. Well-muscled quarters and level topline. Stifles well bent and good feet. Not as settled as his kennelmate today. RBOB
