BORDER UNION CHAMP SHOW 17 JUNE 2017
GOLDEN RETRIEVER DOGS
JUDGE: PAULA HILL
I'd like to thank for the Committee for inviting me to award my first set of CC's at their show. A smashing venue and we were blessed with glorious sunshine which made my day more enjoyable. I was surprised to find quite a few suspect mouths and this was across the board from the Puppy classes up to Open. Majority of the dogs, were presented in hard condition and groomed to perfection. I was very happy with my final line up from the small but quality entry I received and would like to thank Exhibitors for accepting my decisions. Delighted my Co Judge agreed for the dog to go BOB and we both agreed for the delightful puppy bitch to go BP. Best Veteran went to the outstanding dog.
Minor Puppy Dog (8-1)
What a lovely class of promising puppies, bodes well for the future.
1st LINIRGOR TOMICH JW (MISS L & MS I DUNBAR)
Well up to size dog f 8 months, presenting a pleasing outline, slightly longer cast than second place but still presenting a pleasing picture. Masculine dog with a kind expression, with head of good balance and shape, excellent pigment, depth of good muzzle. Carried on a clean muscular neck flowing into correct front assembly, dead level top line which he holds on the move. Tight catlike feet, lovely bend of stifle and presented in coat of good texture. When he moves, he has good ground coverage and really drives from his well muscled hind quarters. Delighted to award him BPD.
2nd KAPPLANDETS WANG WEI GLENRIOCH (IMP SWE) (MISS M & MRS J GRADY)
Similar remarks to winner although he is slightly shorter in length and has good leg to body ratio. 7 month old, presented in a mid gold coat of good quality and texture. Pleasing head with a typical happy golden expression enhanced with good pigment, legs placed well under body, deep through chest for age, carrying the correct amount of weight, good bend of stifle and shown in hard condition, not quite as together on the move as winner but just pipped the 3rd place on movement.
3rd MESSANO BLUE SUEDE SHOES (MR P D & MRS J L SEAMONS)
Puppy Dog (9-1)
1st ALIBREN GALILEO TO WESTERVANVE (MRS S & MRS S M TOWERS & HENDERSON)
My notes say not the flashiest or fastest of mover but his footfall is accurate, 11 months and has such a striking outline for age with a dead level top line ad tail straight of back. Presented in a beautiful blonde coat of good quality, straight forelegs and tight feet, a bit plain in the head for me but has a gentle expression. Neck of good length which flows into nicely made shoulders, good depth of ribs for age and short coupled in body. Shown in hard condition and presented to perfection.
2nd MESSANO BLUE SUEDE SHOES (MR P D & MRS J L SEAMONS)
7mth old baby who pushed winner hard, moved better in this class than minor puppy where he was placed 3rd, slighter longer cast than winner but still a lot to like, level top line, good bend of stifle, pleasing head with good pigment, a happy puppy with his ever wagging tail, ample bone for age, still needs time to develop all over but this will come over time.
3rd CHORIAND CHANCES ARE (MR R H & MRS C P JOHNSON)
Junior Dog (8-1)
1st BILLY ELLIOT DE RIA VELA (IMP ESP) (MRS S M & MISS S A ZUBAIR)
Mid gold boy of 15mths who won the class with ease, so balanced as he stands 4 square on good strong legs, well placed under body, close fitting elbows, the best of forehand construction, dead level top line with tail carried straight of back. Shown in the hardest of conditions and presented to perfection. When he moves, he moves with a long easy stride and covers so much ground, he moves with good drive and with purpose. Thrilled to hear this win gave him his JW and delighted to award him RCC. Am sure his first CC is just around the corner!
2nd LAMANCHA KEEP THE FAITH (MRS L A ROBINSON)
12mth old boy who is nice to go over, longer cast than winner, lovely balanced head with a kind expression, enhanced with good pigment, deep chest with good lay-back of shoulder, stands on straight forelegs with tight feet, level top line although the handler can extend his back legs to far at times. Moved out well with good drive.

Open Dog (6-0)
What a class!
1st SH CH MOUSSEGLEN MACLAINE (AI) JW (MISS I CUTHILL)
Wow what can I say about the winner, I have admired him from seeing him as a puppy, a worthy champion and nice to be able to go over him. There is nothing flashy about him, such balance whilst standing, I loved his head which is all masculine but soft with it, held up on a strong muscular neck of good length, excellent shoulder placement which then flows into a level top-line, deep chest with ribs well sprung, carrying the correct amount of weight, lovely bend of stifle, with good muscle tone and second thigh present, when he moves, he flows around the ring with such ease. I was delighted to be able to award him the CC and later with my Co Judge agreement to see him go BOB over the beautiful bitch who was just beginning to flag in the heat, having just come straight from her challenge.
2nd FLYNGALEE ALONSO (MISS S MCCORMACK)
Another lovely male of similar type to winner, presented in a lovely mid gold coat of good quality, standing four square, pleasing head with soft expression, good front angulation, good tight feet, carrying the correct amount of weight, level top-line, good bend of stifle, straight hocks, moved out well with good driving action.
3rd RAMCHANINE FABULICIOUS JW SHCM (NL IMP) (MRS J GERHOLD)
Veteran Dog (6-0)
Always a soft spot for the veterans and what a super class this was. All the dogs were presented in good condition and all moved well, considering the heat by this class.
1st SH CH/IR SH CH GUNHILLS JANUARY MASTER JW SHCM (MRS S & MRS M STEVENS & HADDEN)
Am sure I can't do this boy justice, but I am so glad that I've finally been able to lay my hands on him. What a cracker he is, 10 ½ years old but his years belie him, he is in tip top condition and you could tell, as he powered around the ring with a long flowing stride, so attentive to his handler, masculine head of good portion, carried on a well muscled neck leading into text book front assembly, four square viewed from an angle, level top-line with the tail carried straight of his back, he pushed hard in the challenge and really thought he would be my winner, but there was something about the CC and RCC that I kept on being drawn back to. BVIB
2nd SH CH COSSVIEW SUMMER ALLIANCE JW SHCM (MRS J GERHOLD)
Another lovely example of our breed, blonde boy with a very balanced outline, good overall angulation fore and after, legs placed well under body,, level top-line and correct tail set, shown in good coat of correct quality, moved well with ease as he strode around the ring.
