Bullmastiff

J (3,1) 1 Gunn’s Flintstock Flame. Well balanced, feminine bitch just out of puppy. I liked her clean lines with strength and depth to quarters. Attractive head with good muzzle, well filled cheeks and strong underjaw. Expression was enhanced by lovely dark eyes and well placed ears which framed her head. Excellent front for one so young with good width and depth and standing on cat-like feet. Firm backline, croup and strong rear. Naturally, she needs to let down behind as she matures, but there is time for this. Moved freely on a loose lead with good head and neck carriage, maintaining outline. 2 Medcraft’s Kentixen Dusk til Dawn. Charming bitch of 16 months who was close up to the winner. Put down in excellent condition. Pleasing head and eye mounted on a good neck. Not quite the feet and pasterns of the winner, but again has time on her side. She has many virtues with good angles back and forth, correct topline and was a positive mover. Her handler needs more confidence to get the best from her charge. PG (2,1) 1 Porter’s Rayvonley Pixie. Brindle girl of 18 months with the most wonderful temperament. Presents a reasonably well balanced outline with good headpiece and the darkest of eyes using her correct ear. Arched neck leading into good depth and width of front but I would prefer tidier feet. Pleasing topline and loin. Used her quarters well on the move with reach and propulsion. O (2) 1 Gunn’s Alambollie Celtic Prince by Flintstock. Strong, well conditioned male of 23 months who was a joy to go over with good ribbing and firm loin. Naturally, he still needs to fully mature and develop a touch more depth throughout, but his good length of leg facilitated, free, unencumbered movement when settled into his stride. Skull was of good size with strong jaw whilst not overdone and correct earset. When freestanding he was very well balanced with correct angulation and firm top line. Particularly good, strong hocks well utilised on the move. Best of Breed. 2 Smith's Luna Fire Magic. Mature 3 1/2 year old bitch who pressed the winner hard, but overall I preferred his head and expression. She was as feminine as he was masculine without compromising strength or substance. Good strong front standing on tight, tidy feet. Adequate width and depth throughout with clean flowing outline. Angle at shoulder matched that at stifle enabling positive movement which was very pleasing in profile. Reserve Best of Breed.

Leonberger.

Overall, a quality entry today which was a pleasure to judge. J (4, 1) 1 Bodle's Debbollinby Travelin' Light. Smart, 9 month old puppy male who easily held the most balanced outline in the class. Characteristic of his sex yet free from exaggeration. Attractive head with good length of foreface and strong underjaw. Pleasing dark eye. Excellent, straight front with enough depth, scores in bone and standing on good feet. Shoulders are well laid into good top line of correct length with moderate hind angulation. Free moving youngster, who just needs to strengthen behind as he matures. Best Puppy in Breed. 2 Bainbridge's Dacfolke Okhmhaka. At 12 months this boy was rangier than the winner, needing to fill his frame as he matures. Freestanding, he presented a reasonable outline. Clean head with kind but lively expression mounted on a good neck. A shade too long for perfect balance but carried himself well on the move using his good quarters. 3 Mears' Euphrosin Bakenranef. PG (3) 1 Brown's Davenheath Foxy Lady to Brenaljay. 2 1/2 year old bitch who pleased me for her easy, free movement demonstrating good stride and true from all angles, carrying herself well. Quite smart in outline although I would prefer greater length of leg to improve overall balance. Feminine headpiece of good shape and in proportion to body. Lovely straight front of width with correct angle at shoulder. Strong broad loins and hindquarters of adequate angulation. 2 Loring's Wylah Return Fire. Strong and sound male of just 18 months who was longer cast than the winner. Liked his masculine head, correctly elongated but with strength to muzzle and roman nose. Put down in good coat and condition with pleasing ribbing and topline. Well off for bone although I would prefer stronger patterns. Purposeful, easy mover. 3 Niall & Rothery's Daveheath Exciting Times. O (3) Difficult class as all 3 held great appeal for me. 1. Brown's Davenheath Feeling Lucky to Brenaljay JW. Showy, 2 1/2 year old male in full coat, presented to advantage to take this class. Scored highly in balance with correct height to length ratio and a clean flowing outline giving an elegance but without compromising masculinity. Skull to muzzle proportions were good with lovely expression and good dentition. Lovely neck into good wither. Strong front and feet. Pleasing angles back and forth with broad, strong loin. Very good on the move with true action both coming and going. Still has a little more to give with full maturity but so pleased to award him Best of Breed and later to learn he won Working Group 3. 2 Niall & Rothery's Davenheath Dainty Lady. Lovely 5 year old bitch who was so honest, mature and typical in outline. Feminine head which was of good shape and proportions with expression enhanced by ear. Well laid shoulder, strong, well developed front, firm top line into good croup and rear angles. Just enough length to body she was a picture standing and I was quite taken with her. True and easy gait, but slightly outmoved by the winner today. Reserve Best of Breed. 3 Niall & Rothery's Davenheath Forever Blue JW.
