In such a large entry of beautiful bitches, inevitably some very nice hounds went home cardless.   Competition in the Open class in particular was strong and I could happily have awarded a Challenge Certificate to all those placed.

1st MRS M HEAD - CH DEMERLAY REGENCY ROMANCE JW One I have previously admired, now fully matured and in shown in super condition today. She has a beautiful head and expression, a good length of neck and well laid shoulders, a good depth of chest and good top and underlines. She moved well with long reaching strides covering the ground with ease. She presented a balanced picture both standing and on the move and was awarded the RCC and with my co-judges agreement BVIB.

2nd MRS S & MR C DOWNING-CHRISTIE & CHRISTIE - MOSSBAWNHILL WORTH THE WAIT FOR ZIGOUSE SHCM A pretty brindle, who is elegant and held herself well on the move. She has a nice head and ears and a good neck and flow of topline, similarly a good depth of chest and good underline. Liked her good legs and feet and her hocks were well let down. Another nice free mover.

1st MR R & MISS C HOOPER & MARSDEN - TORBERS RARE MAGIC. A promising br/wh of nice type who is well proportioned for her age. Head could be a shade broader in skull but is a good length. She has good legs and feet, good quarters with low hocks. Still very immature in body but was a steady and sound mover.

2nd MRS S GILLESPIE - PENBRIAR FOR PLEASURE A black of a different type who was well developed for her age. Broader and deeper in chest and with well muscled quarters. Moved well in profile. Preferred front and topline of the first.

1st MRS S MOWBRAY - WEST CHELAN QUICK LOOK AT ME [ATCAU02518BEL] This one caught my eye right away. She has a beautiful head and expression, a lovely arch to her neck which blended into well laid shoulders. Has an ideal front with good legs, feet and pasterns. Has a good depth and spring of rib, strong back and loin which contributed to her good top and underlines. She is nicely angulated with low hocks and she moved very well holding her outline.

Best puppy Bitch and Best Puppy in Breed.

2nd MISS S E & MR M P LAIN & ALEXANDER - LOLANI TENNESSEE HONEY. A red fawn also a very nice puppy with much to commend her. Has good overall proportions, a pleasing head, good front with neat elbows, good topline and quarters. Was shown in good muscular condition and was a nice free and true mover.

1st MR J D & MRS K J JONES - JOTHRYN HEAVEN SENT. A very shapely fawn with a pleasing head, lovely eyes and ears although could perhaps be a bit stronger in underjaw. Has a lovely neck and topline with nice arch over the loin. Has a good depth of chest and moderate fill in front, good legs and feet and well muscled quarters. Moved truly out and back and with good reach in front and drive from her rear. Carries a lovely fine coat and skin 

2nd MR M & MISS Y HOWGATE & HULL - PALMIK MISTY EVE JW. Lovely fawn with a sweet head and expression, good depth of chest, legs and feet. Has a good topline and rear with a good width of thigh and second thigh and her hocks were well let down. A free mover in profile, preferred the front action of one.

Has a good front with straight well boned legs, good pasterns and feet. She has a very good rear with good width of thigh and low hocks. A nice easy mover .

2nd MISS F GASSER - ZETA JONES STAR DA QUINTA D'ALEM JCH [ATAU03047PRT]

Also has a very nice outline and a lovely head. Is a good size and type with a front of moderate width, nice depth of chest, good neck and topline and good quarters with low hocks. Front movement could be a bit erratic at times but in profile and overall, went well.

Has a good depth of chest and well sprung ribs.. Her topline flows and she has a nice neat tuck up to the loin. Her rear was well muscled and she moved truly both out and back and in profile.

Has a good font with excellent legs and feet, good top and underlines and a well muscled rear. Her hocks were well let down and she used them to power her round the ring. Moved really well in profile.

2nd MISS B T BORNER-THOMAS - VEREDON ROYAL WAVE VDHJCH. Smokey fawn with a lean head but could have been stronger in underjaw. Has a moderate front with fine boned legs and good feet. Liked her good depth of chest, nice topline and rear. Moved well with good reach in profile.

Has a good head, eye and expression and lovely arch to her neck leading smoothly into well laid shoulders. Has a good front, legs and feet and good top and underlines. Moved well showing good low front extension and good drive from her rear. In excellent muscular condition.

2nd MR R P SYKES - SUPETA'S THE SPECIAL ONE OF VEREDON. Another lovely elegant bitch with a beautiful head and eye, good front with nice length of leg and good feet and pasterns. Has a strong topline and good depth of chest, is well angulated and has a good rear with low hocks. A very nice easy mover.

Has a pleasing head, good arch to her neck, good strong topline and well angulated rear. Has a good front with ideal width between elbows, a good depth of chest and is well ribbed back. She has a good width of thigh and second thigh and her hocks were well let down. She moved truly with freedom and extension in front and drive from her rear.

2nd MRS F M FINCH - DANLUKE LADY FOXTROT AT ZENOBIA JW SHCM. A very pretty fawn with a beautiful head and expression. It was a close decision between these two in this class as they both had much the same good breed qualities. Has a good front, excellent top and underlines, a well muscled rear and she also moved very well.

Has a beautiful head and expression, good front, legs and feet. Has a nicely arched neck, good topline and rear with low hocks. A lovely true mover front and rear and in profile went with a free and easy stride.

2nd MRS K & MISS A GREEN & PLACE - COLLOONEY QUEEN OF DRAGONS WITH BROCHINBELLE JW SHCM. A fawn/wh/parti. Well balanced in construction with a good front, good depth and spring of rib, strong loin and well muscled rear. She moved well with a low reaching gait. Preferred head and neck of winner but a close decision.

1st MR & MRS D G SHORT - CH COLLOONEY TARTAN TEASE JW WW'17. My CC winner. A simply stunning bitch and a superb example of the breed. She fits the description in every paragraph of the breed standard to a ‘T’. She has a beautiful head, her topline flows from the tip of her nose to the end of her tail. Her temperament is gentle and she has a quiet confidence in the ring. She holds a perfect outline both standing and in motion and when she moves she covers the ground with such apparent effortless ease, extending with low forward reach and bringing her rear well under her body to give maximum impulsion behind. She was shown in superb coat and condition and it was a pleasure to judge her and with my co-judges agreement to make her our BOB. I was thrilled to witness her win a very strong Hound Group and progress ultimately to Best in Show. 

2nd MRS L & MR G MORRIS & WADDELL - CH NOTHING COMPARES TO YOU AT CROSSCOP JW SHCM. This bitch is one I have liked since a junior. She has so many good qualities to appreciate. She too has a pretty head and is built on flowing lines and can move with great freedom and drive. A shade longer in body than the winner and slightly closer behind on the move today. Fully deserved her place against very strong opposition in todays entry.
