JUDGE MARINA SCOTT
Thank you to the committee for super Welsh hospitality and to my stewards, Ruth and Joan who did a great job of keeping the ring running efficiently. We were very fortunate to have a huge ring so I could happily assess movement which I consider is the most important feature of this breed. It became very warm outside so it was good to be undercover with a cool breeze, ideal conditions for a working breed, and their handlers! Quite a few dogs, I felt, were carrying too much weight. Presentation was good on the whole but some dogs could benefit from a little more trimming around the feet.

SH CH LACEWAY LONE RANGER JW (MISS P M HALES).
What a cracking quality B/W dog to start the day, a dog who is so well made
that only needs a natural free stand to show off his excellent construction,
graceful outline and excellent coat and condition. He’s defying his veteran
years and it’s easy to see why he’s done so much winning, he’s very accurate on the
move coming towards and going away and has plenty of reach and drive
in the side gait with minimal lift of feet, carries his tail low as he motors around.
Standing, he’s got good lay back of shoulder, tight elbows, good spring of rib,
firm topline, sloping croup and low set tail. Delighted to see him win the
Pastoral veteran group and later go on to BVIS. A credit to his owner and handler,
Well done!
2ND
QUORIES SWEEP FROM SNOWMERE (ISDS) RL6 (MISS J MOCKFORD)
A real workmanlike and hard-working tri colour dog with just enough bone, head
is smaller to match his body type and has an excellent lay back of shoulder, good
width in front and straight forelegs, oval compact feet, muscular neck of medium
length and set on well, close fitting elbows and good depth of chest and slightly
sloping underline, strong muscular rear with good bend of stifle and
well let down hocks, tail carried low on the move. Loved his movement where he
dropped his head and moved with drive around the ring.

CALEYKIZ LIGHTNING STRIKE (MS L JENKINS)
Well presented youngster who was testing his handler’s patience on both the stand
and on the move, moderate bone, typy head and good expression, dark eye,
ears were set on well but carried sideways rather than forward, good reach
of neck, strong firm topline, good depth of chest, spring of rib and underline,
tending to be a little bum high at this stage but that should come better with
age, compact oval feet, good tail length and set on low but carrying it a touch high
on the move. I’m sure more ring practise will get this one performing well
in future.

ARRODARE HEAR IT FOR THE BOY (MS J RATCLIFFE).
A quality upstanding puppy who is right up my street, plenty of substance and
type and appealing head with good oval eye shape and dark eye giving
that typical keen expression, ears sensitive in use, excellent reach of neck leading
into good lay back of shoulder, tight elbows and correct depth of chest, strong loins,
firm topline and slightly sloping croup, well angulated rear, long and low set tail,
moved positively and accurately in all directions and with a level topline, showing
good reach and drive, very well presented and will watch his career with interest.

TONKORY TALKING POINT AT TIDESPRING (MR M & MRS C JOHNSON)
Close decision between 1 and 2. He made a nice balanced outline, masculine head
with good width and breadth of skull, distinct stop, good length of foreface, oval
shaped eyes that were dark in colour, ears were set well apart, tipped and used
sensitively, good front angulation, level topline, good spring of rib, good strong rear
and long low set tail, could benefit from a touch more rear pastern,
good mover in all directions with lovely low tail carriage.
2ND
LOCHEIL GOLD STANDARD (MRS H & MRS J TURNER & ALEXANDER)
Very shapely boy attractively marked
who needs a little more maturity in chest and ribs but is a quality boy with super
angulation in front and rear, excellent reach of neck and lay back of shoulder, good
length of upper arm, ears set high on the head and of moderate size and well
tipped, front feet a little on the round side and could have touch more flexibility in
pastern, very fluid on the move.

SHELTYSHAM SHY BUSHMAN (AI) ( MS P FORSTER-COOPER)
Mature boy with a graceful outline, plenty of substance and
gorgeous classic head, with medium sized ears that were set well apart
and sensitive in use, brown eye, good stop, good strength to foreface,
medium neck, good lay back of shoulder and length of
upper arm, strong body, and muscular hindquarters, a little straight in the stifle
and could have more bend in the hock, tail of correct length, moved well in all
directions but could have a little more animation.
2ND
BEESTING LAST FLING AT GINNYLANDS (MRS G CHARLESWORTH)
Well proportioned dog that has plenty of substance and bone, good head shape and
distinct stop with good length of foreface, brown eye which was a shade on the
light side, nice lay back of shoulder, a little steep in upper arm causing him to flick
his front legs up underneath him on the move, slightly sloping pasterns,
a little square over the croup but held his tail low on the move
along with his head.

TOBERMORAY TALK OF THE TOWN JW (MRS E A BARWICK)
Quality boy, but would like a little more length in the body, appeals in head
with good width and breadth of skull, well defined stop, good strength of muzzle,
good eye shape and with alert ears that were set well apart. Muscular neck leading
into well placed shoulders, good length of upper arm, strong forelegs, good depth
of chest, good ribbing, slightly sloping croup, long tail that was well set, a little
straighter in the stifle but moved positively in all directions with low head and tail
carriage, handled well and in good coat condition.
2ND
GOYTRE CHANCE IN A MILLION (AI) (MR G C & MRS J CHANCE)
This boy was on one today! Handler did a good job to keep him under control
on the move as he seems to only have one gear – that’s top gear! Did prefer his
longer body proportions to 1 but preferred 1’s head which was more refined. This
boy has so much substance and strength, in muscular condition underneath his
medium textured coat. His classic markings only accentuated his good construction
and he was a joy to watch in full flow with his handler who did well to keep up.
On another day where he’s more settled and with a little more attention to coat
presentation, he could trouble the best.

ROGANSROCK BEAUTIFUL DREAM JW (MRS D SCHOFIELD). Stunning example of
the breed, with strong but not heavy bone and in excellent coat, furnishings and
well muscled. Appealing masculine head, good shape and breadth to skull,
distinct stop, strong muzzle, bite and underjaw, well placed ears that were
sensitive in use, good eye shape and expression, good width of front, strong and
straight forelegs, sloping pasterns, good spring of rib, excellent rear assembly
with strong well let down hocks, giving an economical and long free stride,
sadly got a little excitable in the challenge which cost him top honours.
Still a young dog and I think the best is yet to come. Congratulations.
2ND
LITTLETHORN MANTA JW (MR R E TUNNICLIFF)
Really close up to 1 and took my eye early on in the class. So balanced, elegant
in profile and with a gorgeous classic head of correct proportions to match, dark
eye and oval in shape, ears set wide apart and tipped forward and continuously
being used, dark pigmentation, all giving that correct keen expression, so
attentive to handler
and showing his excellent reach of neck, good lay back of shoulder, long upper
arm, stood square on compact oval feet, excellent spring of rib, super sloping croup,
low set tail and it reached to at least the hock, he was so smooth and free on the
move in all directions with a low tail carriage. Think he’s one that will look even
better in the future.

SH CH ARRODARE IT'S NOW OR NEVER JW (MR N M & MISS J SMITH & RATCLIFFE)
This dark dog was really on form today and in full coat. I judged him almost two
years ago and gave him second in open dog behind the RCC winner, he has
matured into a stunning specimen of the breed. Broad skull and balanced head
with foreface tapering to nose, strong underjaw, dark oval eye giving a keen and
intelligent expression, moderate sized ears that were set well apart and tipped
which completed the picture, freestood on a loose lead to show off his super
reach of neck, laid back shoulders and very good length of upper arm, correct depth
of chest, firm topline and good length of loin, superb sloping croup into low tail set,
tail reaching to the hock, good rear angles, comes into his own on the move and
today really had the wow factor, powering around the ring with his handler,
dropping his head and tail low and demonstrating reach and drive with
minimal lift of feet. He stepped up his performance in the challenge where he could
not be denied the CC and took BOB against a beautiful bitch. He lived up to his
name – it was now or never!
Put in another super performance in a huge group where I was delighted to
see him shortlisted into the top 8 from 32 pastoral BOB winners.
Many congratulations.

SH CH LACEWAY PHOTO FINISH (MISS H FAWCETT)
What can be said about this stunning quality boy, has achieved so much and
last time I gave him the RCC in a super strong open class. My opinion hasn’t
changed of him, he’s still got one of the most fabulous of outlines, super
angulation in front and rear, stands
soundly on compact, tight feet, with medium bone, presented in A1
condition – in fact, don’t think he ever actually moults as I’ve never seen him
out of coat! Always shows himself well and on the day, I felt like
the dog in front moved with more forward drive.
Feel very priviliged to judge this special boy and can I thank the owner
for allowing me the pleasure to go over him once again.

GOYTRE THE NEXT CHAPTER OF OLISTAZIA (MR P BLOOMFIELD)
Two superb veteran bitches here. This one who has a smooth outline and
is slightly on the bigger and finer side but she’s all in proportion,
with a very good head and keen expression, using her
ears continuously for her handler, superb reach of neck leading into well
laid back shoulders, good length of upper arm, straight topline, good spring of
rib, well constructed rear and a long, low set tail, she comes into her own where
she really drops her head and drives forward from her muscular rear. This for me
is what separated the two.
2ND
SH CH LACEWAY WIGGLY GIGGLY (MISS H FAWCETT)
A very worthy champion and more compact, presented in beautiful
condition, she feels great to go over, hard and muscular front and rear and good
spring of rib and excellent depth of chest, she really motors around the ring
effortlessly and is very true coming towards and going away, all completed with
a fabulous pretty head with beautifully tipped ears and dark pigmentation.
Only starting to show her age a little with a few grey hairs around her foreface.
A really super bitch.

SASHDAN NEVER ENDING STORY (AI) (MR P, MRS Y & MRS D SIMMONS & INVERNO)
Quality puppy bitch who is so well put together for just 6 months, enjoying
herself at her first show and was settled on the move with low tail carriage
and positive movement. She excels in head with the most feminine of heads,
correct back skull and length of foreface to match, completed with
well placed ears and oval eye shape, dark pigmentation, giving a keen
but intelligent expression, the best of feet, compact and oval with plenty of
padding, excellent front assembly and width of front, good body length to height
ratio, ribs well sprung, very good topline, moderate rear angles with low and long
tail, all of this came together on the move where she had good footfall. Can’t wait
to see how she grows on.
2ND
TONKORY UNDER THE SUN (MRS J K GREGORY)
Another super quality puppy who was very close up to 1, a slightly smaller mould
but well balanced, the prettiest of heads with well tipped ears and sensitive in use.
eyes were set wide apart and of correct oval shape, dark in colour and giving an
intelligent expression, super front assembly with the straightest of fronts,
good spring of rib, strong loins, good rear angulation with well let down hocks and
short rear pasterns, sloping croup and long, low set tail, a little unsettled on the
move but when got her act together she moved positively in all directions.

CALEYKIZ I GOT A FEELIN (MRS C & MISS D WILTSHIRE)
A very typy puppy and well put together for a baby, well off for bone
and not short of coat, very nice head planes and distinct stop but her ear carriage
was a bit droopy to the side which spoilt the expression, good length
of neck into laid back shoulders, good length of upper arm, excellent spring of rib,
super straight topline, lovely rear angulation where she used it to power around
the ring with a free, smooth stride, longest of tails and carried low, just needs
a little more confidence.
2ND
FLORAUNA SKY FULL OF STARS (MR M & MRS H EMERY),
Classically marked pretty girl with a well fitting jacket who gave me a fright when I
was going over her, she jumped up to give me a kiss! A real happy girl
who has good width in front and behind, enough bone, head balanced and
in proportion to body, good length of neck, a little straight in upper arm so
didn’t have the reach on the side gait, good rear angulation, long, low set tail,
excellent compact and tight feet.

TONKORY SOME HAVE IT JW (MRS J K GREGORY)
Have watched this bitch since she came out as a puppy and when you get your hands on her, she really is as super as she looks in profile, medium sized head with beautiful tipped ears, lovely keen expression, oval eye shape and set well apart, correct ratio of foreface and distinct stop, the greatest shoulder placement, tight elbows, straight forelegs, excellent spring of rib and firm loins, moderate bend of stifle, well let down hocks, sloping croup, tail set is low and carried low on the move, she simply glides around the ring with so little effort and her feet barely lift off the ground but covering so much ground, in excellent coat now and presented to the highest order I considered her for higher honours and will surely make up easily.
2ND
JANBELL OUT OF THE BLUE (MRS P & MISS H FAWCETT)
Was really taken with his uber feminine blue-merle and was very close up to 1, they will change places regularly I’m sure, graceful and smooth outline
as she is presented as usual from this owner in A1 condition, great texture to coat, her head is superb, good strength of skull with tapering muzzle of good length, eyes of good shape and set well apart, perfectly finished with well set medium sized tipped ears that were always moving and listening to her handler. Excellent body proportions and well muscled up, moved very well in all directions although not as clean coming towards in front.

complete with low head and tail carriage, pretty and well balanced head, dark
oval shaped eyes, plenty of reach of neck, good width of front, enough bone,
compact feet, a little straighter in the stifle but well let down hocks, needs to
drop into her chest to complete a balanced outline, presented and handled to
advantage.

TONKORY REVERIE AT TIDESPRING (MR M & MRS C JOHNSON)
Nice type who was in good coat, good length to height ratio, a little short in
foreface, good stop, nice shape of skull, pretty tipped ears, well off for neck,
good front assembly, moderate bone, sloping front pasterns, firm topline,
strong loins, good rear angulation, long tail which was set on low, moved

compact feet.

3rd in yearling class. Honest bitch built on a larger frame and well balanced in profile,
her white markings distract to an otherwise smooth and graceful outline,
pretty balanced head with ears set a little too wide so her ear carriage could be
better, oval shaped eyes that were dark in colour, good pigmentation, neck of
good length and muscular, laid back shoulders and good length to
upper arm, nice spring of rib, good rear angles, long, low set tail, tight and
compact feet, moves a little close behind going away but she has an economical
stride with minimal lift of feet.

LOCHEIL JILLY COOPER (MRS H & MISS A TURNER & MACDONALD)
A really flashy classically marked bitch who I’ve done well before, she’s a real
joy to watch going round the ring as she just flows round with minimal
lift of feet and superb reach and drive which placed her higher than the very
pretty tri in 2nd. Well off for bone but not too heavy, super straight front,
very good rear angulation, which she uses to power around the ring,
super length of tail and set low, excellent reach of neck and topped off
with a very feminine head with well set ears that were sensitive in use.
Still think she needs more time and coat to reach her full potential.
2ND
ALPANA STRIKE A POSE (MISS J WETTERN)
A quality tri bitch who has the most balanced and elegant outline and in superb
condition, just didn’t quite have the reach and drive as 1 but is a very nice
specimen and a pleasure to get your hands on. Super reach of neck,
excellent depth of chest, firm topline which she carried level on the move,
moderate rear angulation, moderate bone to match her smaller frame, very pretty
head with well set tipped ears, keen and alert at all times.

ALTRICIA TOUCH THE STARS FOR CHARCHRIS (MRS P CORNFORTH)
Really took my eye as she first entered this class, quality B/M with oodles of
breed type, pleasing head and expression with medium shaped ears that were
tipped and being used continuously super body proportions with head size
matching her body and a correct medium textured double coat which gave a
smooth and graceful outline, completed with plenty of furnishings on the
front legs, rear and tail to complete the picture, very alert to her surroundings
and on her toes, she’s a joy to put your hands on, well muscled all through,
with superb front and rear assembly, excellent reach of neck,
strong, straight topline and good depth of chest, you could see she was a
handful on the move but held it together to demonstrate a free and
tireless economical gait, dropping and driving through her well angulated rear.

Another favourite of mine who I’ve given a RCC before. Today she was a little more
unsettled and wasn’t using her ears as much as I’d like, not quite in full coat but
has excellent furnishings and the correct texture, beautiful classic balanced head
with oval eye shape and set well apart, good length of muzzle and distinct stop,
another one from this kennel who has the correct fluid, free and sound movement
you expect from this breed, in hard muscular condition and handled

Gave this quality dark bitch a class win when I last judged and today she looked
outstanding. In full bloom and has a graceful outline and is one of the soundest
of movers in all directions. Feminine head which was balanced and with enough
depth of muzzle, well defined stop eyes oval in shape, dark and set well apart.
Ears placed wide, of good size and shape and tipped forward, alert and keen
Expression, superb front assembly with straight forelegs, sloping pasterns, excellent
Shoulder placement and medium length of neck, her neck line flows smoothly down
Into a level topline, excellent spring of rib, correct depth, medium bend of stifle
and well let down hocks, sloping croup, long tail, set on low and carried low.
She only goes one speed and that’s top speed, a bitch that no matter how many
laps I asked, she just moved better and better, with fantastic footfall and accurate
out and back, a real typy bitch who I have admired before but on the day,
