Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever Club Championship Show 25th March 2018
It was an honour to judge this lovely sound breed at their club show. I would like to thank all of exhibitors for their entry and for the sportsmanship around the ring. This made my judging all the more enjoyable. The quality and presentation was very high and strong in all classes. Unfortunately many very good exhibits went home unplaced.
VETERAN D (6/0) A very strong class. It is always good to see the veterans still in good overall condition and enjoying the day. 1. Harding & Whitehill’s Sh Ch Trevargh the Entertainer at Brizewood Sound in balance and outline with a nice shape. Pleasing in head with correct eye shape and colour. He has a nice straight front with correct lay of shoulder. He has a moderate turn of stifle and well set tail. On the move he was sound and positive and did not show his age as he strode round the ring. Delighted to award a worthy Res CC
2 .Powley’s Sh Ch Danehaven Detroit Another well constructed boy with overall balance. Sound in head with correct ear and eye. He has plenty of depth. Shown in good coat and condition. Movement was sound and positive.
3. Palfrey’s Foxdown Bertie Allsorts Sh CM Sound in head with correct ear and eye. He has plenty of depth. Shown in good coat and condition. Movement was steady and true.
PUPPY D (5/0) 1.Adshead’s Afonbach Winter Is Coming At just 6 months this youngster is showing so much promise and he really caught my eye. For his age he is so mature. He has the best of fronts with good bone feet and slightly sloping pastern. Good neck into well laid shoulder. Sound in body with good topline and a well set tail. On the move he was sound and steady. One I will watch for the future. Pleased to award Best Puppy Dog and Best Puppy in Show.
2 .Barker’s Eusanit Silvr Dreamm Machine Another 7 month old mature and balanced boy showing potential. He is well angulated with plenty of depth and a well sprung rib. Good body proportions and shown in good coat and condition. Movement was steady covering ground.
3. Coopeland’s Camusmor Bringmesunshine to Menstonia. 8 month boy maturing well. Sound in construction but going through a growing spurt at moment and is bum high which will even out as he matures on.
JUNIOR D 96/1) 1. A Winter Is Coming
2. Fielder’s Schindow Junior Cowboy with Cretshengan An eye-catching youngster with correct balance and body proportions. He has a clean head, well set ears with correct almond shaped eye. He has plenty of fore-chest, with a good front and correct bone. Well angulated. His movement was positive and true.
3.Harvey & McAllister’s Dreamriver Found My Prince Another youngster with a pleasing head and expression. He has a good depth and spring of rib, good length and well set tail. His movement was sound and steady.
YEARLING D (4/0) 1. Johnson’s Stellenbosch Alameda of Tarnlaikers Well constructed with balance. Sound in head with correct ear and eye. He has plenty of depth. Shown in good condition . Movement was sound with drive.
2. Langford’s Tollerholme Jack in The Box He has overall soundness and balance. Pleasing head, neck and shoulder with good body proportions. Well sprung rib and is well ribbed back. Strong back end with good muscle tone. Moderate turn of stifle.Shown in good coat and condition. On the move he was steady.
3.Titovets & Eremin’s Macdreams Trent from Cashelvale JW RL3 (Imp Nld) He has an appealing head with kind eye and expression. He has a good front assembly and stands true both fore and aft. Shown in good condition. Moved with style.

2. Wright’s Camusmor Crown Royal Slightly longer cast than winner he was shown in good sound condition. Pleasing in head with correct ear and eye placement. He has a lovely front with good length to upper arm resulting in a well angulated shoulder. Sound in hind quarters with moderate turn of stifle. On the move he was sound covering ground well.
3. Burgess’ Camusnor King Rob Litter brother to 2nd in class. Another sound boy with overall balance and style. Pleasing to the eye shown in good coat and condition. Good body proportions with correct bone and feet.
POST GRADUATE D (7/2) 1. Candy’s Decoymans Piper Megrez A real eyecatching dog. He has good overall balance, pleasing head and expression, well set ears, eyes of correct shape and colour. He has a lovely front with plenty of fore-chest, good bone, sloping pastern. He has good depth and spring, correct length, set tail and a well turned stifle. His movement was stylish, sound and true.
2. C Crown Royal 3.Morgan’s Erikachen O’Ruadh for Deltandamba JW Sh CM ELSE A sound quality boy. Pleasing in head with a kind expression. He has overall balance and style with a correct front,sloping pastern and tight feet. On the move he was sound and positive.
LIMIT D (12/2) 1. Burchell & Scott Tivalake Make ‘Em Laugh A well balanced boy with good correct neck into well laid shoulder. He has plenty of forechest. Good bone and feet with correct pastern. Correct body length with well set tail and moderate turn of stifle. Movement was steady and true.

3. Macleod & Hussey’s Camusmor Stargazer JW Slightly longer cast than winner. Well bodied with balance throughout. Viewed from front and rear he is square and true. Shown in good coat and condition. On the move he was positive and true.
OPEN D (6/2) 1.Streven’s Sh Ch Erikachen Conaire of TollistyJW ShCM This sound and balanced dog is full of quality. He has the best of heads with correct ear placement and shape. His eyes are of correct almond shape with colour matching that of his coat. He has a good neck into well laid shoulder, correct straight front with slightly sloping pastern. There is plenty of fore chest, well sprung rib with good depth of brisket. He has a good topline with well set tail. His rear angulation was good with well defined turn of stifle and short from hock to heel. Shown in lovely full coat and condition. On the move he floated. He was sound, positive & true, keeping his topline, covering the ground well and carrying his tail correctly using it to his advantage. Pleased to award Dog CC
2. Anstead’s Multi Ch Riverwatcher Atka Another balanced and well constructed dog. He has overall soundness with good head, neck and shoulder. Good angulation both fore and aft with plenty of depth and spring. Shown in lovelly coat and condition. His movement was sound and steady.
3. Wakeley’s Riverwatcher Nukilik A sound dog in lovely coat. I liked his head and expression. He has a good lay of shoulder, a good rib and depth. His movement was positive and driving off well from hocks. Pleasing in outline

2. Titovets & Eremin’s Multi Ch Delongstar Diamond Dream RL6-EX This handsome boy is well balanced. In profile he is pleasing to the eye with correct angulation Shown in good coat and condition.
3. Reader’s Eusanit Visions of Chillbrav This boy is slightly longer cast than winner. He has good rear angulation with good quarters and a well set tail which he used on the move. Moved steadily with drive
VETERAN B (8/0) 1. Powley’s Danehaven Red Rock At 8 yrs of age this very sound, balanced, pretty bitch has a pleasing head, correct eye shape and colour. Shown in lovely coat and condition. She has a clean neck into well - laid shoulder. She has plenty of depth with overall substance. Movement was sound and steady covering ground well and not showing her age.
2. Palfrey’s Flushpoint Whata Accident for Melanitta (Imp SWE) Another pleasing 8 year old bitch. shown in lovely coat & condition. She is well angulated fore and aft with a good depth and spring of rib. She has balance & style. Movement was sound and steady
3. Anstead’s Riverwather Ikkuma A pleasing bitch with overall soundness and balance. Not shown in as good coat and condition as winner. Movement was sound and steady.
PUPPY B ( 13/1) 1. Adshead’s .Afonbach Dance With Dragons At just 6 months this young girl is showing promise. She has balance and overall soundness. Sweetest of expressions, correct reach of neck into good shoulder. Maturing well. On the move she was positive and true. Best Puppy Bitch
2. Hanvey & McAlister’s Dreamriver wish Upon A Star A pretty 10 month bitch with femine head and soft expression. Slightly shorter coupled than winner, she has a good front with correct sloping pastern and tight feet. On the move she was sound and steady.
3. Hanvey & McAlister’s Dreamriver Once Upon A Time Litter sister to no 2 with similar remarks. She is well developed with good angulation, bone and feet. Well muscled for a youngster.
JUNIOR B (15/1) 1. Foster-Brown’s Stellenbosch Sausaulito This really stylish beautiful bitch filled my eye. She has overall balance, substance and construction, the prettiest of heads with good eye shape and colour, clean neck into lovely well laid shoulder. She has a lovely straight front with correct bone and sloping pastern. She has plenty of depth with a good spring. On the move she was positive with plenty of drive and covering the ground well. Shown in lovely coat and condition
2. Tester’s Gingafling Careless Whisper Built on similar lines and construction as winner. She has overall balance with good angulation both fore and aft. She has good body proportions with plenty of depth and well sprung rib. Movement was sound and steady.

2. Pashley’s Wakaduze Wah Pen Dah Ska A pretty bitch with femine head and soft expression. Built on finer lines than winner. She has a good front with correct sloping pastern and tight feet. On the move she was sound and positive
3. Nottingham’s Tollerholme Joviality Another beautiful bitch with pleasing head and eye. Correct neck into clean well laid shoulder.She has good depth and spring. Not in her best coat at present. Movement was steady and sound
NOVICE B (6/1) 1. Langford’s Gaberlunzie Moira Pleasing to the eye this bitch is so sound and balanced and one that I liked a lot. She has excellent construction, conformation and overall style. Pleasing in head with correct eye and ear set. Her front was straight and true with a good forechest. Good body proportions and good angulation. She was shown in lovely coat and condition. On the move she was steady and true with a positive gait.
2. Westwood’s Eusanit Gonna Make You A Star Pleasing in head with good neck into well laid shoulder. Sound in body and construction with good depth. I felt she needed slightly more substance to complete the picture.
3. Edward’s Afonbach Song of Ice And Fire A pretty bitch but still needs to mature in body and get her coat. She has good angulation. Her movement was sound and steady.
GRADUATE B ( 8/0) 1. Elkin’s Tollelkin Water Dancer A sound femine bitch in lovely coat. Pleasing in profile I liked her head and expression. She has correct angulation & layback of shoulder well sprung rib with plenty of depth. Her movement was positive and driving off well.

POST GRADUATE B (12/2) 1. West’s Wakaduze Wi Mimbe at Raynechaser A very pretty, stylish, feminine bitch that stood out in this very strong class. She has the prettiest of heads with a lovely reach of neck into perfect well - laid shoulder. She has overall substance with balance and is not overdone in any way. She has a correct front, plenty of forechest with good bone and sloping pastern. She has a good depth of brisket with plenty of spring. She has good angulation both fore and aft. Good length of body with correct tail set. Her movement was stylish with a sound driving action enhanced by her tail carriage. Pleased to award Bitch CC and Best in Show
2. Hugh’s Eusanit Cut And Run at Abacot A compact bitch with overall soundness. She is well angulated with correct feet and bone. Plenty of depth and substance. Good length of body with correct tail set. Moderate turn of stifle. Movement was steady.
3. Roger’s Eusanit Chase The Dream STONEBEECH Another fine specimen from this kennel. Slightly longer cast than winner. Well bodied with balance throughout. Shown in good coat. On the move she was positive and true.

2. Burchell’s Tivalake Cover Girl RL1 A pretty quality girl shown in lovely coat and condition. I liked her head and expression. Good neck into well laid shoulder, she has a good rib and plenty of depth. Her movement was positive and driving off well from hocks. Pleasing in outline
3. Newson’s Tivalake More Than Wishes A pretty bitch with femine head and soft expression. Built on finer lines than winner. She has a good front with correct sloping pastern and tight feet. On the move she was sound and positive.
OPEN B (7/1) 1. Westwood’s Multi Ch Eusanit Apple of One’s Eye JW Pleasing in head with correct eye and ear set. Her front was straight and true with a good forechest. Good body proportions and good angulation. She was shown in lovely coat and condition. On the move she was steady and true with a positive gait. Pleased to award Res CC
2. Fielder’s Eusanit Best Of the Bunch at Cretshengan Femine bitch with pleasing head and eye. Correct angulation & layback of shoulder well sprung rib with good depth of brisket. Movement was steady but would have liked to see her drive off more. 3.Anstead’s Sh Ch & Int Sh Ch Riverwatcher Pikpaktuk This bitch has balance and overall soundness. Sweetest of expressions, correct reach of neck into good shoulder. She has excellent depth with a well sprung rib. On the move she was positive and true.
