BEST IN SHOW.

When it was suggested at a Council meeting that I could judge at this show I immediately said, No they could not have the Chairman to judge but they were insistant. So here I was anticipating judging one of the best Utility Groups of the year barring, maybe, Crufts. Our entries are so impressive thus there were surely going to be some beautiful dogs to come into the ring. I certainly was not disappointed. The ice blue carpet shows off dogs to great advantage and each and every one seemed to give of its very best. I made a cut of eight but it could easily have been twelve there were so many lovely dogs present. The four that left the ring, unfortunately without a rosette, were the impressive Akita, Redwitch In The Fast Lane, just out of puppy and some maturing to do but so much to appreciate. The Chow Chow, Ch. Jenrene’s Loving Black Jack, in superb condition and moving really well at the rear, balanced and great show girl. The Japanese Spitz, Charney Chanresh, sweet headed girl with lovely balance but maybe a bit overawed by the situation. The Tibetan Spaniel, Ch. Gianni Its A Preciousone so feminine and alert, lovely body proportions, carrying herself so well, true and sound on the move. First The Lhasa Apso Cain’s Ch. Sandauri Showstopper for Kutani She certainly is a showstopper, in fantastic heavy and lustrous coat which just enhanced her lovely outline on the move. She has a very typical head with lovely eyes and expression, best of fronts with tight elbows and is really well ribbed back. High set on tail and superb topline. Moved out beautifully in typical style and showed during every moment. Second The Eurasier Watkins Albionspitz Blue Moon What a lovely example of this breed, well grown with a lovely head of sufficient strength without any exaggeration, good mouth, dark eyes, great reach of neck and super well sprung body, standing on well boned legs and good feet and when he moved it was so true and flowing. In lovely bright well conditioned coat. Third The Japanese Akita Inu Andrews Kenichi No Mitsuru Go Charadon Often overshadowed by their heavier cousins this one certainly was not, impressive for stance, coat colour and condition and that special outlook from his eye and ear placement. Held his head proudly, stood so confidently and moved in both directions with perfect footfall and drive. Fourth The Miniature Poodle Kitchener’s Ch. Michandy Realization She probably does not need any superlatives from me as she surely has been here before. Impressive in outline and did not disappoint on handling, well made all through and in superb coat without too much exaggeration. Very positive on the move and certainly very stylish.

BEST PUPPY IN SHOW. I just love to judge puppies and always hope to find something with that real promise, well, again I was so spoilt for choice, as they came into the ring several were breathtakingly impressive. There were just a couple that chose to misbehave, otherwise they were all so professional. Again I selected 8 as a cut. The four to leave without any glory were the Dalmatian Caprillis Panache over Sassafras Very mature sturdy boy with perhaps a very mature head for his age, good on the move and in great condition. The Keeshond Cosmic Dream’s Damn You Look Good for Mezanda how aptly named, such a lovely shape with excellent head and nice neck, stands foursquare and moved out nicely. The Kooikerhondje Middanwinter Pony Parade Masculine outlook and nicely constructed throughout, well boned and good on the move. The Shih Tzu Tameron Mr Classic Black Lovely expressive headpiece and with such style and presence. In great coat already and totally confident, pushed really hard. First French Bulldog Seffer Boule & Onuba Sir Kaiser Catrelma. Dark brindle package of muscle and great structure. Stands foursquare, with excellent head, lovely eyes and just enough work over his skull, super ear placement and good dentition. Compact and chunky in the body and nicely boned. He moved in such a way that the rear was true and not made to sway to follow an over exaggerated front. Dare I predict a great future for this one. Second Chow Chow Hollies & Carr’s Janqbu Valentino At 7.5 months he is growing on in the right way, lovely balance, stands on well boned beautiful cat feet and has a lovely head with clean eyes and enough expression for one so young. His crowning glory is his beautifully groomed coat which is a very clear red colour plus his very typical stilted gait – a pleasure to watch him move. Third Miniature Schnauzer Wellingley What’s Rockin’ She is just one day older than the chow and also shaping up nicely. Excellent angulation and reach of neck to balance. Lovely head and expression and nicely set ears. Short and compact with a nice harsh jacket. Impressive on the move. Fourth Tibetan Spaniel Gianni Itsposh Totty Daughter of the one I liked in the group and heading in the same direction I am sure. Lovely soft expression, well carried typical head with good topline and high tail, nicely boned and moved in a very true and steady manner. Sheila L. Jakeman 03.12.18
