Whippets

Thank you to the committee for inviting me to judge three class of whippets. I was extremely grateful to the exhibitors for bringing such a wonderful selection of quality dogs, which led to some rather challenging place decisions.

Junior (7/3 abs)

1. Jones’ Jothryn Golden Glow. 8 month old black brindle with white trim bitch. Beautiful head with correct ears and dentition. Smooth shoulders and a jacket in such good condition it really is quite breath taking. Lovely size for her age, one would expect her to stay of correct height into adulthood. On the move she excelled in profile, so settled for one so young. Fantastic length of stride with effortless rhythm yet still tracking up from behind and holding her beautiful topline. BPIB RBOB

2. Zoraden Darkest Wings – 7 month old black bitch. Super coat and condition. Great length of neck complimenting her lovely shoulders and front. Good return of upper arm leading to a deep chest and curvy underline. Tight feet and well sprung pasterns. Nicely angulated behind. Moved well once settled.

3. Mythic Balder des Plaines des Bruyeres

Post Graduate (6/2 abs)

1. Jothryn Golden Glow.

2. Moonfleur Rosa Pixie – 18 month old brindle bitch. A more compact type of lovely size who moved well to secure her 2ndplace. Good shoulder placement and depth of chest. Standing on neat feet and well sprung pasterns.

3. Kierpark It's My Life

Open (10/4 abs)

My hardest decision of the day was splitting hairs between 1st and 2nd in this class, both are superb examples of the breed.

1. Allen’s Zoraden Gingerbread Latte JW. 4 year old red fawn with white trim dog. I have admired this boy from the ringside for some time. He is firm yet smooth to go over with such well laid shoulders and correct angles front and back. I would prefer a little more length of neck but this did not distract from his overall balance. Unquestionably a very masculine chap but with curves in all the right places. Superb depth of chest and spring of rib moderate length of loin leading to a well-muscled back end. Lovely tight, neat feet. He moved straight as a die for and aft, using his powerful hindquarters to drive well from behind. His relaxed attitude in the ring just allowed him to pip 2nd to the post. BOB

2. Wheeler’s Adagio Behind Sunglasses at Ranvelli (imp SWE). 2 year old cream bitch. She caught my eye the minute she walked in the ring. Her movement was faultless, excellent in profile with wonderful front reach. Such a feminine head and neck leading to good shoulders. Lovely top and under lines. Was a little unsettled today but undeniably beautiful.

3. Dark Wing
