STAFFORDSHIRE BULL TERRIERS

JUDGE DAVE MCKIMM

My sincere thanks to the hard working people of the society for putting on a great show and inviting me to judge SBT, a great entry for the show of 21 actual dogs entered with 17 present on the day and apparently a record entry for the show so extremely honoured to have all these dogs to go over. Thankyou to my Ring Steward Mr Tom Hall for making my job so much easier on the day and my most sincere thanks to all the exhibitors on the day for the manner in which my decisions were accepted. All in all a lovely day out in the company of a bunch of sporting and sociable folk from the North East and further afield, it’s a wonderful breed to be involved with.

Mouths were all good so will not be mentioned further

Very pleased to see my BOB take TG 2 and BPIB take TPG 3

Class 205 Puppy 6 (1)

1st Matrixstaffs Kilgharrah (Mrs C Y and Mr J S Howard) 19.12.20 BPIB

Very smart Black Brindle dog of almost 12 months, well defined head showing strength and good muzzle to skull ratio with dark enough eyes, neat enough ears used to advantage creating an overall keen and alert picture with great expression, good underjaw. Overall a well-balanced pup with ample bone maturing nicely at almost 12 months shown in good condition, clean straight front with good front and rear angulations, rib developing nicely and correctly coupled , moved well holding a level topline, handled well . Went on to take TPG3 well done and thanks for bringing him and all the best of luck for the future

2nd Tillcarr Fire Inigma (Ann Preston) 16.05.21

Lovely young bitch of just over 6 months old giving away lots to the class winner on age but coming along very nicely indeed. Beautiful feminine head clean in the lip with a good underjaw. Very attentive throughout the class with well-placed dark eyes, ears tidy enough and still a bit of settling to go. Very keen and alert throughout class, nice level topline stacked and on the move and seemed to be enjoying her time in the ring. Moved well, handled well, and look forward to seeing how she comes along.

3rd Kentwone Keate (Sasha Osborne) 22.05.21

Just a few words for 3rd and hope this doesn’t aggrieve any of the other exhibitors as special treatment but what a fantastic little team that made me smile. A young lady and her puppy with an obvious huge bond showing hard work pays off. Difficult competition and losing out to 2nd place on minor points just preferring that little more overall, please do keep up the showing. A natural handler and a pup to have a bit of fun with you will enjoy this hobby as there’s nothing more rewarding in this world than a day out with your dog . You have some great mentors willing you to do well and heart-warming to hear the applause and cheers on gaining this place.

Class 206 Special Yearling 5 (1)

1st Geordiestaff Nee Botha (Mrs Linda Hall) 07.10.20 RBOB

Smart Black Brindle bitch that was wired throughout the class and oozed ring presence. A well balanced bitch, clean and feminine head showing strength with well-placed dark eyes and neat ears used very well throughout the class. Clean in lip and a good underjaw. Clean straight front with correct shoulder placements and good rear angulation, she has ample bone for size enough rib at this age, correctly coupled and developing nicely at only 14 months old with a lot more to come. Lovely, neat feet and very well presented she moved well holding a level topline and when stacked. Took this class with confidence and expect she is going to be giving her classmates a tough time throughout her career. A great bond with her handler got the most out of her thanks for bringing her.

2nd Dekayro Forget Me Not (Kevin Cooper) 28.01.20

Black Brindle bitch overall stronger than my first place. Another keen and alert bitch with a pleasing head, dark eye and tidy ears used well. Clean enough in lip and ok for underjaw. She has a good amount of rib and correctly coupled, front ok with good width just prefer a little more bone for balance, good rear quarters correctly angulated when set up correctly. Overall, well presented and moved ok holding her topline but perhaps she could benefit from shedding a touch weight and some more roadwork to improve her pasterns and tighten her feet up.

2nd Biggleswick Queen Nandi (Laura Jane Macholc) 19.02.19

Smart and pretty bitch presented generally in very fit condition. A pleasing feminine head not particularly strong but typical for the breed with correct skull to muzzle ratio, dark eyes, ears used well to create a very endearing expression, clean in lip and good width to underjaw. Well balanced and ample bone for her frame, good spring of rib , correctly coupled and a good tuck up accentuating a cracking and powerful rear end with correct angulation. Once settled and set up correctly she has a lovely level topline which was held on the move. She had very tough competition in my 1st place but once set up she looked every bit the picture of a bitch that could compete at all levels and hope she gets the practice in with her handler and does show herself off as she does have some good qualities, would benefit from a little shorter nails to enhance her decent feet.

Class 208 Open 6 (2)

1st Matrixstaffs Black Beauty (Mrs C Y and Mr J S Howard) 02.05.19 BOB

My notes say “absolutely gorgeous and couldn’t take my eyes off her”. A very well put together well balanced standard bitch with quality in abundance and nothing overdone. Undeniably feminine but strong head with the darkest of eyes and beautiful, neat ears, very clean in the lip with a good underjaw and a beautiful expression commanding attention. Good bone with a clean straight front of good width, correct shoulder placement, plenty of rib and close coupled, good rear angulation, the neatest of feet and the most level of toplines held on the move. She was on the ball throughout the class and handled perfectly, I just couldn’t deny her this place, went on to take TG2 . Well done and thankyou for bringing her, she is most certainly in her prime and all the very best of success for the future.

2nd Tillcarr Fire Starter JW (Anne Preston) 28.06.17

Black Brindle dog I have had the pleasure of judging on several occasions and never disappoints. Very handsome lad with good strength to head , dark eyes and neat ears that he uses well , clean in the lip and alert through class. He has a nice clean front of enough width and ample bone and good depth to brisket. Looks like he has been stripped back a little since I last saw him and overall fit condition, strong neck leading into correct shoulders with good angles front and back and plenty of rib with correct coupling. Moved with ease out and back and handled well. He was very unfortunate to meet the winner today but very pleased to have these 2 quality exhibits to go over so thanks for bringing him
