Bernese Mountain Dog Club Of Great Britain

The Bernese Mountain Dog Club of Great Britain Open show – Special classes

Judge Mr E Forsey (Muzoku). I was both greatly honoured and excited to be offered the opportunity to judge the special awards classes for the BMD club of GB at their golden Jubilee show, the general quality of the dogs entered shone through and I’m really looking forward to judging more of this beautiful breed in the future.

BERNESE MOUNTAIN DOG

Special Members’ Puppy Award (3,1a)

1st S. J. & E. Green’s Waldershelf Gin & Tonic, A Lovely female youngster at her first show, a little timid at first but soon found her confidence. Pretty expression on her balanced feminine head, strong neck and carried proudly on well angulated shoulders, level top line which she held perfectly on the move, good turn of stifle and in nice coat, defiantly one to watch.

2nd R. & P. Meakin’s Bernsego Surburban (Imp RUS), 8 month old large sized male, clean head with good depth to muzzle and dark brown almond shaped eyes, narrow white blaze down a well-defined stop. Nice length of neck and moderate angulation front and rear with good sized feet, still young and just needs to tighten up on the move.

Special Members’ Junior Award (2,1a)

1st S. Peacocke’s Bobb vom Durrbachler Wald TAF NAF, although standing alone deserved his place, 14 month old well-constructed male of good size, clean markings and solid bone throughout, nice breadth of chest which reached the elbows, large round tight feet supporting his frame, slight rise over a moderate length loin, moved true in all aspects at a steady gait.

Special Members’ Post Graduate Award (8,3a)

1st S. J & E. Green’s Waldershelf Fame’N Fortune, 20 month old male with a soft broad masculine head, strong muzzle, well balanced to length of head and well define stop with lovely soft dark brown eyes. Large but compact body with short coupling, solid legs with slight slop to pasterns and tight round feet, nice turn of stifle, in good coat and moved effortlessly for such a large boy.

2nd R. & P. Meakin’s Salentum Terrae Amber (Imp ITA), 2 year old bitch of good height at withers, sweet expression, balanced features and well set triangular ears. Good length of neck, well laid shoulders and moderate turn of stifle, level topline, longer in body than most, moved well, but despite a good slope to croup tendency to carry tail to high.

3rd R.R. Price’s Kyleburn Night Umbrette at Silvretta, 6 year old smaller but well-proportioned bitch, compact and solid body with adequate bone for her size, soft feminine head and expression, good slop to shoulder and return of upper arm, depth of chest to elbows. Moved with drive at the rear but could be cleaner on the towards.
