Finnish Spitz Club

The Nordic Show 27th November 2021 - Eurasier and Schipperke

Always a privilege and a pleasure to judge at this show. Well done to the organisers and big thank you to my great steward.

Eurasier:

Sadly, the entry was affected by the weather, but my disappointment was tempered by the quality puppy.

Puppy (2,1)

1. Watkins, Albionspitz Kendra. A very exciting 6-month bitch pup. So feminine with the most attractive head with black mask; correct eye shape and ear set and super expression. Although a real baby, she is of lovely construction and proportions with correct angulation front and rear and good bone. Confident showgirl and very sound on the move. An absolute delight. BOB and BPIB.

Special Yearling (1,1)

Open (2,2)

Schipperke:

A lovely entry of quality schipperkes for me to go over.

Junior Dog (1)

1. Massey’s Ristine Sunny Jim.

2. Just out of puppy, this promising youngster is nice for size and well put together. Attractive head with foxy expression, strong pigment, good in body and in lovely dense coat. A little uncertain of the hall and the floor, but not shy. When he steadied, he showed sound movement. I hope he continues to gain in confidence.

Limit Dog (2)

1. Massey’s Ristine Magical Spice. Cream with substance. Good foxy expression, strong neck and top line. Nicely angulated front with good breadth and depth. Liked his dense, harsh coat. Moved out briskly.

2. Finch’s Ristine Starry Night. Lovely black in super coat and condition. Today gave way to the more mature class winner as he still needs to broaden and drop into himself. Moved out soundly.

Open Dog (5,3) Two lovely males.

1. Cheatham’s Ch Schipdale A Kind of Magic. Super 3-year-old male of quality. Very attractive head, lovely eye shape. Typical outline in profile with correct angulation, and lovely viewed from above. Quality coat, with shawl. Moved out soundly, covering the ground well. BOB.

2. Massey’s Ristine Magical Spice. Another quality boy – but not concentrating on the job in hand. Good head and expression, nice in body, good overall balance and proportions. Just lacked the sparkle of 1 today.

Veteran Dog (2)

1. Cheatham’s Ch Aradet Action Man ShCM. What a picture. Compact and cobby, with super head and expression. Dense, harsh coat. Sound and typey. A lovely veteran. BVIB

2. Philpott’s Ch Aradet Expert Timing AW (S). Another worthy champion. 10 years old and in great condition. Lovely outline, not quite as compact as 1, but lovely balance. On the day I preferred the movement of 1, but both showed the lasting qualities of the breed.

Junior Bitch (1)

1. Wilcox’s Dencas Come Dance with Me. 12 month, very pretty youngster. Good head, nice neck and good overall proportions. Still very much a baby but shows promise. I feel she was carrying a little weight, and this may have impacted her movement, which was sound but sedate.

Special Yearling Bitch (1)

1. Manners’ Roopec Finnish Fancy. 19 month, very nice bitch with typical expression, well constructed, good breadth of chest and overall very balanced outline. Moved well with lovely rear action.

Limit Bitch (1)

1. Philpott’s Komargo Going For Gold. 3-year-old cream. Correct head and expression, very good front with good chest. Nice overall proportions making a balanced picture. Lovely dense jacket. Moved out well.

Open Bitch (2,1)

1. Manners’ Ch Chadbower Nevaeh Lahetti. Lovely 4-year-old bitch. Correct broad head and foxy expression. Good breadth of chest and front angulation. Super proportions, good topline. Dense, shining black coat in tip-top condition. Excellent on the move. Close decision for top spot – BOS.
