CRITIQUE FROM EAST KENT CANINE SOCIETY OPEN SHOW

I would like to thank the club for inviting me to judge their open show, I thoroughly enjoyed my day and the hospitality was great, in a great venue with a lovely steward. Thanks to all who entered and allowed me to judge their beautiful bulldogs! I was very happy with my line ups and had some quality dogs to go over, overall quality, temperament and health was excellent.

Puppy D / B (2/0)

1st – Mr D. Robinson, Avaword Winifred At Sonpow

7-month-old red & white cobby girl caught my eye as she walked into the ring. Lovely head with good pigment, hopefully it shall come on. Good jaw with enough upsweep. Great dark eyes, with correct ear placement and carriage. Good straight front, with enough bone for a young bitch, down to tight feet. Correct topline, leading to a fabulous tail. Viewed from above she has a lovely pear shape, good rear angulation, would prefer a better tail, but a nice young puppy with good movement.

2nd – Mrs G. Weller, Sullybulls Stan The Man At Geenawell

7-month-old red & white with nice overall shape when viewed from above. Good head with correct pigment and nostrils, nice length of skull. Enough neck to correct shoulders with good straight bone down to nice feet. Enough brisket and tuck up leading to nice tail. Preferred movement on 1.

1st – Mrs. L. A. & Mr. B. Stutter, Lynmans Party Like Patsy At Linmist

3-year-old red & white bitch with a very pleasing profile. Lovely head with good length of skull, dark eyes well placed ears, nice jaw with correct upsweep. Lovely reach of neck to tacked on shoulders with great bone to neat feet. Lovely topline and tuck up with a nice tail set. Great movement around the ring, would like a bit more confidence.

1st – Mrs. G. Weller, Baalzebull Constance For Geenawell

5-year-old white & red girl caught my eye as she walked into the ring, I’ve admired her from ringside over the years. Lovely head with good pigment. Good jaw with enough upsweep. Lovely dark eyes, with correct ear placement and carriage. Good arch of strong moderate neck, to tacked on well-muscled shoulders, giving a beautiful body shape from above. Good straight front, with enough bone, down to tight feet although nails need a trim, would like a bit more chest let down. Correct topline, nice spring of rib with a defined tuck-up, leading to a nice free tail. Viewed from above she has a lovely pear shape, nice rear angulation, excellent on the move. Overall, a lovely bitch, proud to award her Best of Breed.

2nd – Mrs. L. Stutter, Erimusbulls Cooper At Linmist

4-year-old red & white boy I’ve had the pleasure to go over previously. Lovely head with flat skull and standoff expression, dark eyes, well placed ears, good nostrils, good wide jaw and upsweep. Enough neck to tacked on shoulders, good straight bone to nice feet. OK chest, topline alright. Good on the move, preferred movement on 1.
