North Of England Scottish Terrier Club

I felt so honoured to be invited to judge the 76th Championship Show for this long established club. I had some lovely Scotties present and the sporting exhibitors made for a great day. My two excellent stewards kept everything running smoothly.

Special Triers Dog or Bitch

Webster’s Glengracie Miss Mercury of Pepilarue. Strongly made and really scored here with her excellent, mature body and rib. Clean head, dark intelligent eye, nose pigmentation could be darker. Good neck and shoulders. Smart and free moving. Good coat.

Greenwood’s Petmon Royal Gift. Giving away a lot in age here. Decent head and expression, uses her ears well. Presents a nice outline with her short back and well set tail. Sound and free moving.

Lockwood’s Filisite Brash Rare Treasure at Lochgems. The first of four puppies here today and they all had some promise. Attractive head and expression. Short coupled, with good body and ribbing for age. Strong hindquarters gave him some drive on the move. His jacket is a good texture.

Junior

Greenwood’s Petmon Royal Ruffian. Litter brother to Royal Gift I see, like him she is shapely with a strong, short loin, excellent topline and tailset. Moderate neck which she uses to advantage. Pleasing head and expression. Good mouth. Very typical.

Norton’s Divadell’s Charging Bear. Nicely balanced head with keen, dark eye. Good bone, legs and feet. Not quite the body of the winner which made him appear a little longer cast. Excellent topline and tailset. Strong, well muscled hindquarters.

McNiven’s Frazandmitch Top of the Game. Masculine, clean head of good length. Dark, well set eye. Shapely but could be a tad firmer in topline and have a little more body but this should come with maturity.

Post Graduate

Tyler & Chapman’s Berrybreeze Spirit Master. Lengthy, masculine head with a grand expression. Good forehand with some breadth of chest. Well boned with good legs and feet. Well ribbed and short coupled with excellent topline and tailset. Nice hindquarters with plenty behind the tail. Moved out well.

Ashworth’s Russalan Crimson Coburn. Smart and shapely with a well proportioned head, good eye and expression. Good breadth of chest, well slung body. Decent jacket. Moved soundly in typical fashion.

Chapman & Lidgett’s Berrybreeze Magical Spirit. I would happily have signed a CC for this dog. Attractive, masculine head with a keen intelligent expression. Strong, sturdy well slung body with good breadth of chest and excellent topline and tailset. Short coupled and ribs extend well back. Very good hindquarters with plenty behind the tail. Presented in first class coat and condition. Sound and free moving.

McCracken’s Our Black Jack for Amawyn. Clean, well proportioned head, strong moderate neck and good shoulders. Well ribbed and with good topline and tailset.

A strong, hotly contested class containing some very classy dogs.

Kelly’s Ch Caresview Mr Goodfella. CC & BIS. Masculine but not coarse and so typey. Good length of head. Neat, well set ears. Good forehand with strong neck, good shoulders and a strong, nicely ribbed, well slung body. Perfect topline and tailset. Strong, well muscled hindquarters gave him some push on the move. Harsh coat presented to best advantage.

Kenny Marriott, Marriott & Kirk-Gellatly’s Ch Millingford Hudson. Reserve CC. A very good moving dog, beautifully balanced and he too is presented and shows to good advantage. Clean, nicely proportioned head, dark eye and strong jaws. Good forehand with quality bone and feet. Well ribbed and short coupled. Presents a most pleasing outline and he is sound and free moving.

Wilcock & Hebditch’s Millingford King of Hearts. Best Veteran in Show. A handsome dog of good quality and type. Typical head and keen expression. Dark, clear eyes. Strong jaw. Strong moderate neck and well laid shoulders. Good depth of brisket, well ribbed. Good hind action.

Dauncey’s Magsonbay Royal Edition at Glenmiar. Very babyish and rather raw but has all the essentials. Grand head and expression. Excellent forequarters with moderate neck, breadth of chest, well boned straight legs. Good body and ribbing. Free moving and she certainly enjoyed her day at the show.

Lockwood’s Lochgems Princess Angeline. Promising with an attractive head and keen expression. Presents a nice outline with her good topline and well set tail. Decnet jacket. Sound and free moving.

Puppy

Beckton’s Innuendo Deus Vult Bohemia La Da by Glengracie. Best Puppy in Show. A glamourous wheaten with a good, well proportioned head and keen expression. Dark eyes, good pigmentation. Decent breadth of chest and well slung body. Good topline and tailset. Well set tail which today, she could have made better use of on the move. Sound and free moving.

Junior

McNiven’s Frazandmitch All Eyes On Me. Lengthy, nicely balanced head, strong jaw and keen, dark eye. Good topline, tailset could be a tad higher for perfection. Sound and free moving and handled by a very accomplished young lady.

Kirk-Gellatly’s Whitwitch Fire Starter. CC & Reserve BIS. On top form today and a real eye-catcher. Well balanced head with dark, intelligent eyes. Pleasing to handle with good forehand, decent bone and good legs and feet. Compact, well ribbed body with excellent topline and tailset.

Strong, nicely muscled hindquarters with good big buttocks. Sound and free moving and her good jacket is presented to best advantage.

Knight & Poolton’s Russalan Martha Rosa. Perhaps just fractionally longer cast than the winner but is a good quality, well balanced bitch shown in great form. Attractive head and expression. Well ribbed with good topline. Strong hindquarters. Moved well with a true, easy action.

Lockwood’s Filisite Brash Living Miracle at Lochgems. Good head of adequate length and typical alert expression. Decent forehand; compact, well ribbed body with excellent topline and tail carriage and this gave her the advantage today. Very typical on the move. Good textured jacket.

Knight & Poolton’s Orrscot Mod De Baliol. Grand head, very pleasing to handle as she is very well ribbed with a sturdy, well slung body. Good quarters. Moved soundly.

Barton-Smith’s Russalan Rosenda Rose

Maidment’s Berrybreeze Quintadacious for Spinakers. Reserve CC. Feminine yet with the impression of power. Beautifully balanced and presents a compact outline. Pleasing head and exprerssion, uses her ears to advantage. Strong, moderate neck and good forehand with adequate breadth of chest. Good body, ribs extend well back. Perfect topline and tailset. Moved well with an easy, fluid action. Excellent coat and presentation.

Kirk-Gellatly’s Millingford Stargazer. Absolutely typical and has lots of quality. Lovely head and expression. Good breadth of chest and a strong, well ribbed body which is well slung. Strong, well muscled hindquarters. Shown in top class condition.
