Thame & Oxfordshire County Canine Society

Thame & Oxfordshire Canine Society Premier Open 17/08/22

SALUKI

I was delighted to have such a great entry, both personally and for the society. I believe this is a demonstration of the benefit of breed club supported entries, and hope this encourages more show societies. Many thanks to all those who entered under me, I had the pleasure of seeing quite the variety of Salukis, all of whom were well handled.

Puppy 4(2 abs)

1st Warner & Hetherington, Ms N & Mr B’s Flytesfield Eowyn at Savuka

A pretty and feminine black tri bitch, of just 6 months. Very raw as expected, but good width through body, good depth of chest and nice angulation for age. Sympathetically handled for a baby getting started, much more settled when moving, showing elegance and lightness. BPIB

2nd Chippendale, Ms O’s Flytesfield Hyddwn

Litter brother to 1st, black fringed fawn dog who strikes the right balance of masculinity without coarseness. Very much a baby as he should be, showing great depth of chest, good angulation for this point in his development and particularly nice hindquarters. Well handled and enjoying his day, he was slightly more erratic when moving than his sister today.

Special Yearling 3(1 abs)

1st Francis, Mrs D’s Velourias Slinky Vagabond

Very elegant 18 month old grizzle dog presented well. Good top line, excellent depth of chest and tidy underline, balanced front and back and will be one I’d like to keep my eye on as he shows much promise. He moves tidily and with precision in a light and lifting gait.

2nd Kecskes, Miss A’s Sharwassim Graham TAF

Another grizzle dog, slightly younger and correspondingly less mature at 12 months. Dog clearly enjoys working with his owner, he shows moderate angulation and decent depth of chest, with good width throughout body. Preferred top line of 1st, this is another graceful young dog who will be interesting to see into maturity.

Limit 3 (0 abs)

1st Warner & Hetherington, Ms N & Mr B’s Savuka Rasheika

Compact red bitch, presents a good outline with moderate angulation, correct topline and a classic look to her. Shown in good condition she holds her topline well and pushes off well behind.

2nd Haywood, Mrs H F’s Yalameh Shasmeen at Monardie

Pretty deer grizzle bitch, mature now at 4.5 years. Neck flows nicely into good shoulder, topline continues well and balanced angulation front and back. Good depth of chest and tuck up. Preferred front movement of 1st.

Open 2 (1)

A challenge here, as this class demonstrated so clearly the range of variety Salukis can embody within our standard! Two more different exhibits would rarely be seen in the same ring.

1st Chippendale, Ms O’s Imhotep Rears Natural Jasmine (Imp Bel)

An upstanding, very generously feathered cream dog with flair and showmanship. Good length and strength of neck flowing into nicely laid back shoulders, well bodied, good angulation and his front and back work well together. Excellent condition, he moved really well today with precision, lightness and balance, particularly true coming and going. BOB

2nd Hamilton, Ms N’s LU Ch Alishamar Roxane JW (Imp Bel)

A compact, sporty grizzle bitch of very different type. Feminine and strong, in great condition, she was unlucky and this decision was difficult. Good topline which she retained when moving, neat tuck up, she moved with real purpose and on the day I preferred the front angulation of 1st. RBOB
