ASHFIELD CANINE SOCIETY PREMIER OPEN SHOW

SUNDAY 12th JUNE 2022

CANADIAN ESKIMO DOG: MISS ANNE BRYSON (Inukshuk)

I was very pleased to be asked to judge at this super outdoor show where we were very well looked after. Rings were of a great size and the weather was kind to us. Thank you to my steward who made the appointment so enjoyable, and to the exhibitors who brought their wonderful dogs under me.

JUNIOR (2)

1. Bailey's AKNA ICE STATION ZEBRA ** Two months since I last judged him and remarked he was one to watch, and wow what a gorgeous young man stood before me today. The same good bone, substance, proportions and angulation are still there. Such a typical masculine head. His coat has developed and shows excellent breed characteristics and his tail has a good plume. He is now well muscled for his age and showing a more powerful physique. He was absolutely sound moving around the ring giving a pleasing side profile. He needed to tidy up on the out and back in the class, sometimes crabbing, but in the Challenge he came into his own and I quite unexpectedly found myself awarding him BOB. Also BPIB and WPG2. I will watch his career with interest.

2. Atkins' QIMUGTA MISS MARPLE 14 month old black and white bitch, still very raw but showing much promise. Has good bone and overall proportions. Super lay of shoulder and equal return. Level topline, good croup and correct moderately high tailset with good tail carriage. Good turn of stifle, rear pastern vertical and strong. Being picky, would prefer more rounded feet but well arched. Coat of correct coarse texture, and typical for bitch, shorter coat than male. Feminine head with widely spaced obliquely set eyes, and erect forward facing correctly proportioned ears set wide on head. Expression lovely. Took her time to settle around the ring but moved well on the out and back with a powerful brisk trot.

OPEN (3)

1. Atkin's AKNA PEECHEE FOR QIMUGTA* feminine 7yr old red and white bitch. Typey head of correct size and proportions and excellent ears. Wonderful expression. Correct proportions and best angulation of the class, shoulder well laid back and muscled, with good upper arm into straight forelegs. Level topline held firm on the move. Being picky I would prefer a little less slope to croup and a higher tailset. Powerful well muscled thighs with good turn of stifle, strong rear pasterns and hocks not turning in nor out. Very precise on the move, covering the ground well. RBOB

2. Bailey's QIMUGTA JUDAS BY AKNA Almost 2 yr old black dog of super breed type and powerful physique. Good bone and excellent coat with mane. Level topline, strong loin. Very good front angulation but being picky I would prefer a little more bend to stifle to complete the picture. Excellent wedge shaped masculine head. Gaits very well in side profile but sadly crabbing on the out and back today. On another day 1st and 2nd could change places.

3. Graham's AKNA VOORHEES**
