WIVELISCOMBE & DCS OPEN SHOW

31ST JULY 2022

Judge Anthony Allen

My thanks for the committee for the invitation and especially to my two stewards who kept me in order, and everything running smoothly. I was honoured to have some super dogs entered under me and I was splitting hairs in a number of the classes.

My BEST IN SHOW was the superb PBGV Soletrader Flora Goodtime who I thought just stood out and never put a foot wrong. For RES BEST IN SHOW was the winner to the Terrier group that I had judged earlier in the day the super Dandie Dinmont Terrier Ch/Int Ch/Multi Ch Back To My Roots at Luna Caprese with Torbrae (Imp Deu)

For BEST PUPPY IN SHOW I selected the Dalmation Steyndal Diamond White at Dalens who has the most super effortless gait on the move, she never put a foot wrong. Running her a very close second and RESERVE BEST PUPPY IN SHOW was the topflight Whippet Palmik Chasing Rainbows.

For my BEST VETERAN IN SHOW I selected the NSDTR Erikachen O’Ruadh for Deltandamba JW ShCM ShCEx who it transpired had won under me when I judged the breed back in 2018. For my RESERVE BEST VETERAN IN SHOW I chose was the topflight Chow Chow Ch Dragonsway Tom Thumb (Chow Chow.

Winning BEST CHAMPION IN SHOW was the superb Mini Smooth Dachs Ch Keydax Layla for Dynastydax JW who really impressed me and BEST RESERVE BEST OF BREED IN SHOW

Was the PWD Ch Ankors Prima Vera.

TERRIER GROUP I had some super Terriers to judge in this group, the winner was the Dandie Dinmont Terrier Ch/Int Ch/Multi Ch Back to My Roots at Luna Caprese with Torbrae (Imp Deu). In runner up spot the Norfolk Terrier Earthtaw Lincoln. For Group 3 I selected the PRT Lenacourt Lord Joules and for Group 4 was the Border Terrier Botterox Chaos.

TERRIER PUPPY GROUP was headed by the PRT Lenacourt Lord Joules, in runner up spot was the Border Terrier Earthtaw Nessa Jenkins and for Group 3 Circinus Dare To Dream (WHWT)

BEDLINGTON TERRIER

Grad (4, 1 abs)

1st Dunkeswell Pebble Run. RBOB. BRBOB.

I really elegant blue lady, very appealing. Super pear-shaped head enhanced by a dark eye. Topknot good and good ears hanging close to her cheek. Good through the neck in to sloping shoulders, stands on straight legs and good feet. Liked her overall shape on the stack, good depth of chest for her age. Excellent rear which she used to advantage on the move. Coat of good condition and texture. My Reserve Best of Breed.

2nd Jobanker Rocky Road

Another smart youngster, head well shaped, good topknot and ears well set, close to cheeks. Good length of neck in to sloping shoulders. Stands on good straight legs. Chest deep and flat ribs. Has a good action in profile but was rather untidy behind which counted against him.

3rd Travellerways Julita

Open (3, 1 abs)

1st Dunkeswell Teal Pudsey. BOB.

I thought this 15-month-old boy was super for type. His head is masculine with a good top knot. Super front on him, sloping shoulder and standing on well boned legs. Depth to chest and flat ribbed. Good topline, well made rear quarters. Moved positively to take Best of Breed.

2nd L’End Show Mystery Uneverse (Imp Rus) JW ShCM ShCEx OSW

Another of good of good type, well balanced with good outline. Good head piece. Shoulders are well placed, good depth, well made hindquarters and good arch over the loin. Well-made quarters moved positively but wasn’t as tidy in action as the winner.

BULL TERRIER

Open (2, 1 abs)

1st Ukusa Rhapsody for Waybully ShCM VW. BOB

This was a treat, most lovely 11-year-old who was most certainly enjoying her day, bounced around this ring like she was a youngster, full of spirit and attitude as they should be. Super head on her with appealing eye of a super colour. She has good overall shape and proportions with balanced angles front and rear. Thank you for bringing her today.

BORDER TERRIER

Grad (6, 2 abs)

1st Kevrah Orion Seeking Orangebox (Imp Rus). RBOB

This chap was well put together, wouldn’t want any more of him. Good in head, breath to skull and short in muzzle. Moderate neck, he has a super straight front on him, stands on good feet. Body well made, ribs well back and a firm loin. Decent quarters on him, good profile mover.

2nd Earthtaw Nessa Jenkins. BPIB.

A very promising youngster with a lot to like about her. Super shape on her, head of good proportions, moderate neck into a well assembled front, stands on good straight legs and small tight feet. Quarters developing nicely. Very good on the move for her age. My Best Puppy and later Puppy Group 2.

3rd Earthtaw No Way Jose

Open (5, 2 abs)

1st Botterox Chaos. BOB.

Another smart dog with a lot to like about him, Blue & Tan dog. Strong headed with a good eye to give a masculine expression. Just spannable and perhaps a shade heavy but that was coat. Quarters well made. Moved well both in profile and fore and aft which gave him the edge today. My Best of Breed and later Group 4.

2nd Orangebox A New Hope at Itaso

This lady left her coat at home today, she has a good overall shape and super topline. Feminine in head and expression, good neck in to a decent front assembly, stand on good legs and tight feet. Good size about her. Not quite the forearm of the winner or the extension on the move but had plenty of drive.

3rd Earthtaw Making The Day

DANDIE DINMONT TERRIER

Open (3,1 abs)

1st Ch/Int Ch/Multi Ch Back To My Roots at Luna Caprese with Torbrae (Imp Deu). BOB.

Very smart pepper dog who commands attention on the stack. Strong head with a super dark eye, good depth of muzzle. Good muscular neck in to well laid-back shoulders, good return of forearm. Correct length of body, ribs well sprung and good through the loin. Quarters are well made with stifles well angulated, and hocks well let down. Moved out so very well, with an easy stride, reaching forward from the front and held his shape throughout. My Best of breed, and later Group 1 and then Reserve Best in Show – many congratulations.

2nd Diamondandie Blue Sapphire. RBOB.

Attractive mustard bitch, I thought she has a typical feminine expression enhanced by a lovely dark eye, super ears. Good shoulder placement, ribs well sprung and depth to chest and well-made quarters. Didn’t make the best of herself on the move today which was a pity.

JACK RUSSELL TERRIER

Open (2, 1 abs)

1st Chatmoss Chatterbox at Tufterslodge. BOB.

This chap scored in profile movement, I like his head and expression. Neck good, decent lay back of shoulder. Would have liked him a little tighter in elbow and a bit less length in loin. Coat harsh and in good order.

NORFOLK TERRIER

Open (2)

1st Earthtaw Lincoln. BOB.

This chap is a real showman and comes into his own on the move with a great driving action. I like his headpiece, decent breadth to skull and enough width of muzzle, dark eye to enhance that typical expression. Good front angulation stands on good straight legs. Good length of back and held topline well. Decent hindquarters on him. Great attitude on him, my BOB and later Group 2.

2nd Watercroft Pop Muzik at Tamodan. RBOB.

Three-year-old bitch of very nice type but not in her best coat today. Full of breed type, her head is attractive, good in skull and muzzle. Good eye shape and ears well set. Good overall shape and proportions, I would have liked her a shade shorter in loin. Balanced angles front and rear. Not playing ball on the move today which was a shame as she is a really nice type.

WEST HIGHLAND WHITE TERRIER

Grad (4, 2 abs)

1st Circinus Dare to Dream. BOB.BPIB.

A very nice youngster who I was really taken with, very balanced. She has feminine head and expression with a pleasing dark eye. Good in neck into good sloping shoulders and straight front. Compact body, well ribbed up, level topline and well-made quarters, in good coat and condition. I really fell for her and was pleased to award her Best of Breed over the super open winner.

2nd Ashgate Kirtle.

Another very typey bitch but for me today she didn’t have the front of the winner and tended to stand a little wide. She has an attractive head of good proportions with super dark expressive eyes, ears well set. Good angles front and rear, well ribbed up, a shade longer in loin than the winner. Moved out well, good in profile but a shade untidy on the up and down. Coat typical for her age.

Open (2)

1st Ashgate Kelvin. RBOB.

A very smart youngster who is really typy, he has a super head piece, correct eye. Super front on him, good through the neck into a well assembled front. Body well made of good proportions, short firm loin, tail well set on. Moved out well but was a little all over the place in the challenge and gave way to Dare to Dream.

2nd Clavelshay Montmorency.

Well-built boy who moved out well, scoring in side profile action but today was rather untidy in front action and was a shade longer in loin than the winner. I liked his head piece, enough neck into a decent front. Good muscular quarters on him and tail well set on.

AVNSC TERRIER

Grad (6, 1 abs)

1st Lenacourt Lord Joules (PRT) BAVNSVP. RBAVNSC.

I thought this young man was very smart, just 8 months old and progressing in all the right directions. Good overall proportions and everything is in the right place. Pleasing head and expression. Good length of neck into well laid shoulders, good angles front and rear. Good legs and feet. Body developing well for his age, ribs carried well back. Hindquarters well made. Tail set on well. Scored in movement, well-coordinated with good footfall. Pleased to later award him the Terrier Puppy Group 1. I will follow his career with interest.

2nd Lucky Star’s Boom Shake the Room (Scot. T.)

Another good puppy and unlucky to meet the winner today, lovely shape and size about her. Very pretty, head balanced and enhanced by a super eye. Well set ears. Body of good proportions, holding her topline well. Coat of good texture and moved out well.

Open (3)

This two-year-old boy has good type about him, his head is well made with a strong muzzle, good dark eye and neat ears. Good through the neck into sloping shoulders, body well made with depth to his chest, would like him a little tighter in elbow. Well made quarters which he used well on the move. In super coat and condition.

2nd Glendraterra Blithe Spirit (Fox T.)

Good overall shape and size, her head is pleasing with a good eye. Ears right shape and well set. Neck clean, straight front, good legs would like her better in pasterns. Depth of chest and back short. Decent hindquarters which were used to advantage on the move.

3rd Apollo Sb Scotties Vegas of Pamaswater (Imp USA) (Scot. T.)

AV TERRIER

Puppy (6, 3 abs)

1st L. Lord Joules

2nd Pamaswater Ivy (Scot T.)

Really nice type of bitch with a lot to like about her, was giving her handler a hard time on the move today, just needs a bit of practice. Her head is feminine, and she has a pretty expression. Body developing nicely. Good topline and overall shape. Bags of potential and should do well.

3rd Tout Nouveau Tout Beau at Karmaristol Naf (Scot.T.)

Veteran (2)

1st Waybully Andromeda JW ShCM ShCEx. (Bull T.) (BTVet)

I really fell for this seven-year-old, such enthusiasm and a will to please. He has a good head piece, long and well proportioned, enhanced by a kind eye. Long muscular neck in to well set shoulders, stands on well boned legs and compact feet. Well rounded body with a decent spring of rib. Quarters well made with stifles well bent. Very accurate on the move to take the class today.

2nd Int Ch Dainty Dandies Royal Dutch Emma for Lenacourt (Dandie D T)

A lot to like about this eight-year-old mustard bitch. She is very pretty, with a pleasing head and expression. Super shape on her with good angles front and back and overall body proportions/ sound on the move but not quite as good as Andromeda today.

Champion (4, 3 abs)

1st Ch Miss Sophie Di Luna (Dandie D T) BTCh.

And the top-class Dandies kept coming, another lovely mustard bitch of pleasing type. Really typical head piece of good size and proportions, super big dark eyes, ear sets on well with correct furnishings. Good length of neck into well laid-back shoulders, body of good proportions with ribs well sprung, quarters well made with good angulation. Moved out really well with an easy stride. Can see why she has her title, full of quality.

GUNDOG GROUP

Another super group to judge with the top two really close up as both super examples of their respective breeds and I was not surprised to see that they both have their titles. Taking the top spot was the most beautiful Irish Setter Sh Ch Jetsetter Cristalle to Polmenor JW (Imp Rus) racy and elegant, exactly what I want to see in an Irish. In runner up spot was the most super Large Munsterlander Sh Ch Wonglepong Wills Faramir what a topflight boy he is, all dog and moved like a train round the ring. In third spot was the young Labrador Chyanhal Trevose of Trewinnard JW who is so right for her age and with a little bit more maturity will surely reach the upper house. In fourth spot was the charming IWS Stanegate Hey It’s Bianca JW who has previously done well under me and pulled out all the stops in this group to take the fourth spot.

GUNDOG PUPPY GROUP

The winner of the gundog puppy group was the striking young Hungarian Vizsla Rarog Ruda Szata for Pirospont (Imp Pol) NAF in second place the lovely Golden Retriever Stromhayes Midnight Sky. In third spot was the NSDTR Cfyre’s High Tea at Tollpepper (Imp Can) NAF and puppy group four went to the young Labrador Rodstar Rocks Zero Bully.

GORDON SETTER

Open (6, 2 abs)

1st When I Was Your Man Black Lofty (Imp Pol) BOB.

A smart young man with a balanced head of good proportion. Good through the neck into well-set shoulders and stands on well boned legs. Body well proportioned, firm in topline and decent quarters with enough bend of stifle. Well-presented coat with good tans. Best mover in the class, Best of Breed.

2nd Graylacier Blue Marlin. RBOB.

Another youngster, slightly heavier in head than ‘I Was Your Man”, good overall shape on him, decent front angles and stands on well boned legs and feet. Depth to chest and ribs well sprung. Decent quarters on him. Not as fluid on the move as the winner which cost him the class, needs to get his act together a little bit, nevertheless a nice type of boy.

3rd Marshmoor White Lightening

ITALIAN SPINONE

Grad (5, 1 abs)

1st Kevardhu Life of Rylea. RBOB.

A very nice type of Spinone with bags of potential about her. I thought she had a lovely head which was enhanced by a super eye. Neck into shoulder is good, good front assembly on her and stands on well boned legs. Body well made into good quarters with stifles well bent. Moved out really well with a ground covering action but in the challenge was a shade untidy as she came towards me which cost her the top spot.

2nd Scodinzolare Photoulla. BPIB.

Just nine months and giving a lot away to the winner, she has a lovely head and expression at this age. Good overall shape, stands on well boned legs and round feet. Needs to find her feet on the move but did enough to take this place today and Best Puppy.

3rd Ellisbell Beaufighter

Open (4, 1 abs)

1st Amberellie Rosanna. BOB.

A lot to like about this 2-year-old orange roan, she has good overall shape and proportions. She has a super head with divergent planes which enhanced her feminine expression. Super type about her she has good angles front and rear, well made in body, good through the ribs and well-developed quarters. Coat in good condition. Moved out with a super action to take the class and later Best of Breed.

2nd Scodinzolare Philomen

Another two-year-old, not quite as together as the winner at the moment and a bit rangy. Her head is attractive, with divergent planes. Decent front assembly on her, good through the ribs and loin. Quarters are Ok, enough bend of stifle. Did enough on the move to take this spot would have liked a little more coordination.

3rd Scodinzolare Perla D’Oro

Good in neck, into well assembled front, good lay-back of shoulder and return of upper arm. Enough depth of chest, well-sprung ribs. Good finish to her croup and tail set. Move out well to take the class but was a bit untidy in the challenge, so lost out to the IWS. Reserve Best AVNSC.

She has a feminine head and expression, good neck into shoulders and stands on good legs and feet. Good through the body with ribs well sprung. Well-developed quarters, good muscle tone and with stifles well turned. She moved out well, good side gait just a shade untidy as she came towards me.

AV Gundog

Puppy (7, 2 abs)

1st Lynwood Rather Scrumptious (Irish Setter)

What a beautiful Irish Setter, at this tender age she is so full of quality. Clean and elegant in outline she presents a super picture on the stack. Her head is developing well for her age with plenty of work and raised brows, should finish into a very pretty bitch. Clean through the neck into a good front assembly. Good through the ribs, firm in loin and held her topline throughout. Good rear on her, stifles well bent. Moved out well in profile. A very promising youngster.

2nd Cfyre’s High Tea at Tollpepper (Imp Can) NAF. (NSDTR)

Another promising youngster, just seven months but everything in the right place, she is very pretty with good shape, and a super almond eye, well set on ears. Super front on her with a good lay back of shoulder. Body is well-proportioned and quarters well developed. Coat right for her age, super on the move with good foot fall. Should do well.

3rd Camaling Rose Royale (Irish Setter)

Veteran (14, 6 abs)

1st Erikachen O’Ruadh for Deltandamba JW ShCM ShCEx (NSDTR). B Gundog Vet.

This boy did well under me some 4 years ago at Three Counties and it was a pleasure to see him as the finished article. I liked his head and kind eye that gave him a masculine expression. Strong through the neck which led into well-assembled front, stood on good legs and tidy feet. Body of good proportions, ribs well sprung through to a firm loin, level top line which he held throughout. Well-developed quarters. Very dark coat, super dog on the move who has that typical toller action. Super to see him again.

2nd Acquelin Double Fara Flare (Cocker)

What a super boy, 10 years old and still looks the part. Super head piece on him with a kind eye to give him a masculine expression. Compact in body, quarters well developed with stifles well bent. Merry action on the move. A pleasure to see him clearly enjoying his day out.

3rd Sh Ch Withiflor Rolling Stone (Cocker)

Champion (5, 3 abs)

1st Ch Lussac Winter Wizard JW SWGC. (FCR). Best Gundog Vet.

I thought this chap balanced throughout; his head is well proportioned with a lovely dark eye. Clean neck into correct shoulder placement, and a good return of upper arm. Correct depth of chest, decent spring of rib and firm in loin, held his topline throughout. Excellent quarters. Moved around the ring as if he owned it. A pleasure to judge, thank you for bringing him.

2nd Sh Ch Withiflor Rolling Stone (Cocker)

Super dog stood with a classic outline, super quality about him. Eight years old and is excellent condition. He has a super head on him, ears set on well. Clean neck into shoulders, stands on well boned legs and super feet. Body of decent proportions, slightly longer in loin. Well-made rear with a good bend of stifle. Sadly, today not as his best on the move and this cost him in both this class and the veteran class.
