Such a fabulous, well run show that was a credit to the Committee. I had a fantastic array of dogs covering most of the gundog breeds in my BIS line up and the quality was such that it had to come down to performance on the day. Thank you to my fellow judges for sending so many excellent dogs through for me to choose from.

BIS ESS Calvdale Ever Thus JW. What a fabulous dog, he has the most beautiful head with clean lines and an expressive eye. He is so well made with the right amount of bone and substance and his powerful, true movement just covers the ground effortlessly. Put down in excellent condition I could not fault him.

RBIS Bracco Italiano SHCH Owlspoint Master of Trouble ShCM ShCEx. His strength and power came to the fore in the challenge, a dog that certainly rises to the occasion

BIS 3 Flatcoated Retriever Hopevalley Morning Rainbow JW In fabulous coat and hard condition which showed on the move.

BIS 4 Gordon Setter Bryerdale Qookaburra (AI) Beautiful, free flowing bitch with a powerful, driving movement, well muscled with a lot of coat.

BPIS Golden Retriever Parlickview Blaze of Glory over Beaupippin In the stakes classes she had fought against her handler a bit on the move but by the end of the day they had sorted themselves out and I just could not look passed her as that was all that had held her back earlier.

RBPIS ESS Elazlan Tribal Craft A cracking b/w dog with a classic head and lovely angulation, totally at one with his handler showing lovely ground covering movement. I will watch his career with interest

BPIS 3 Weimaraner Gunalt Schweppes at Caleydene I thought this dog may well have been my best puppy but the long day seems to have caught up with him and he was not showing to his best which in the quality that was present did affect things but another one I will be watching in future.

BPIS 4 Bracco Italiano Whitgun U’Can’t Touch This at Walwal. Feminine bitch with such a lovely head and expression, well built throughout she was so sound and true on the move.

BVIS WSS SHCH Chanangel Sticky Wicket JW ShCM VW What a cracking outline this dog has got, he has bags of breed type without being overdone in any way. If it wasn’t for the frosting around the muzzle you would question he was a veteran he is so clean and positive on the move.

JHA

The majority of handlers have only got 1st names listed in the catalogue so please accept my apologies for only giving them.

6-11

1st Catherine (7) Very well handled Flatcoated Retriever, the handler listened to my instructions and carried them out well. She was attentive to both the dog and the judge ensuring each time I looked at her she was working with the dog.

2nd Evelyn (8). I was impressed with how she handled a very bouncy young Irish Setter, she kept her calm at all times but was not quite as precise as the winner at the corners when moving

3rd Leilani Fletcher-Elliott (9). Handled her Lab confidently but was not as clean on the triangle

12-16

1st Elizabeth (15) Love the rapport she had with her ESS puppy, she was calm and confident at all times. She was the most precise on the move and ensured that I as the judge always had a clear eyeline to the dog. Very well deserved Best JH

2nd Charlotte (13) Standing she handled her Golden Retriever really well, the foot placement could not be faulted but when she set off on her triangle she was slightly to one side so I had to move to be able to assess the movement.

Import Reg

1st Davies Yello Vom Zulimo mit Barbamor (imp) NAF TAF. Barbert of just 7 months with the most delightful character. Strong in outline with a firm topline and broad quarters, she has a lovely balanced head with correct length of muzzle and broad skull and a very cheeky bright eye. Her coat has good length and curl to it giving the true rustic appearance required. Lovely profile action on the move.

VNB

Puppy (8, 4 abs)

1st Howarths Moorbrook Owdid Thatappen. 9 month blue belton English Setter with lots of fizz and animation. She has a strong outline with lovely angulations front and rear. Classic head with a soft but cheeky expression, clean through the neck and shoulder to a well developed body. Lovely legs and feet and masses of power on the move.

2nd Snooks Moorbrook Mogul of March I see this blue belton is litter brother to the winner and has a similar outline but just a little rangier at the moment. He has a melting expression with a soft eye and well placed ear. Firm in outline with a lovely front assembly and broad thigh. Collected movement showing good footfall.

3rd Barnes Saxonbejayz John Kerr

Grad (6, 3 abs)

1st Mowbrays Crumbledor Bella Lestrange. Substantial Sussex Spaniel bitch I wouldn’t want her any bigger, that aside she is well made with plenty of bone and a firm topline. She has a good length and depth of muzzle with a bright eye showing little haw, nicely curved skull with plenty of brainroom. Strong through the shoulders with deep wellsprung ribs. She moved clean and true.

2nd McAndrews and Hughes Ivcar Sweet Charity. A much smaller framed Sussex than my winner but all in correct proportion. She has a feminine head with a pleasing eye. Balanced through the body with a firm topline but not quite as clean on the move coming towards me.

3rd Holmes Glenbrows Innocence

Open (12, 4 abs)

1st Walker and Roberts Gloi Donn Crazy Little Thing. IWS with a lovely compact outline and a well balanced head, bright in eye with a strong jaw and well placed ears with good leathers. She is soundly built throughout, developed forechest, deep in the ribs, with a short loin and shapely hindquarters giving strong driving movement and that typical roll

2nd Hardy Cottonstones Evergreen with Cafotaliena. Gordon Setter. Very feminine bitch with the prettiest of heads and correct eye, loved her front assembly and spring of rib. She has a strong topline which she holds well on the move but is a touch headstrong for her young handler so tends to run into the lead a little.

3rd Short Ferndel Fire Gem at Toftwood

Veteran Stakes (14)

What a fantastic class of veterans, all in tip top condition and a credit to their owners

1st Romeo-Dieste Hopevalley Morning Dakota. Flatcoated Retriever straight out of the top drawer, 7 years old with a fabulous typy outline, the best of heads with a strong jaw and bright, cheeky eye. She flowed through her neck and shoulders to a strong topline which she held well standing and moving, lovely depth of rib, clean bone and good feet. Broad rear with a good width of 2nd thigh gave strong movement.

2nd Bell and Maddox SHCH Owlspoint Master of Trouble ShCM ShCEx. This Bracco just oozes breed type and not just on the stand, his movement is so powerful and true. He has a well balanced head with lean cheeks and a bright eye, lovely neck and shoulder with lots of deep well sprung ribs. Pushed the winner close today.

3rd Bradley SHCH Vizslanya Vivmany by Highforce JW ShCM ShCEx VW

Minor Puppy Stakes (27)

1st Bell and Maddox Whitgun Renegade Master at Owlspoint. 8 month Bracco with all the promise for the future. Loved his head with its clean lines and big spongy nose. Excellent bone with depth of rib and a strong topline, he showed great balance in one so young and strong true movement.

2nd Ewart Parlickview Blaze of Glory over Beaupippin. Golden Retriever bitch with the most beautiful shape, good length of leg, plenty of body and lovely bone. She has the sweetest of heads with lovely black pigmentation, a nice amount of stop and good width of skull. She flows through the neck and shoulder with a firm topline and well set tail. Well angulated throughout she was just not as settled on the move as my winner.

3rd Capille Chanderhill End of an Era at Lendever

Puppy Stakes (16)

1st Isherwood Gunalt Schweppes at Caleydene. Quality Weimaraner puppy showing lots of promise. I just loved his breed type, size and overall balance. Handsome head of correct proportions with a well shaped eye.. Well developed in the forehand with plenty of ribs under a firm topline. Muscular hindquarters gave powerful, ground covering movement on a long and easy stride.

2nd Ewart Parlickview Blaze of Glory over Beaupippin. Much better on the move in this class

3rd Smith Hurstmeon Look at Me at Flyenpyg

Junior Stakes (20)

1st Nixon Quintana Kumar Eclipse. GSP, solid bitch who looks like she could do a days work.Kind head and eye with good underjaw, clean flow through the neck and shoulders leading smoothly to a strong topline. Balanced body proportions with good angulation throughout. She showed true movement with plenty of strength to it.

2nd Piper and Groves Bushwacker Demitrio. Bracco who was playing up a little today. His head needs to finish but he has a clear bright eye and big nose. He has strength in outline with plenty of forechest and a broad rump, he just needs to settle on the move.

3rd Liddell Hameldown She Loves Me

Open Stakes (24)

1st Dummett Letjashaja Pitsa Saint Pierre at Almondsbury (imp Rus). Wow such a ‘look at me’ attitude from this impressive American Cocker, good length to foreface with a strong stop, bright well shaped eye and nicely rounded skull. Flowed beautifully into his neck and shoulder and on to that sloping topline which held firm standing and moving. Well constructed throughout he showed driving movement. Put down in fabulous coat and condition.

2nd Romeo-Dieste Hopevalley Morning Rainbow JW. Beautiful Flatcoated Retriever, so feminine but full of strength and power. Just loved her outline, she flows from nose to tail with excellent depth of rib. Her head is feminine but with strength of jaw and a real twinkle to her eye. Strong well shaped quarters gave ground covering movement.
