Rhodesian Ridgebacks

Thank you to the committee for my invitation to judge Rhodesian Ridgebacks at your recent show and to each exhibitor who entered despite clashing with hound day at SKC. I had an enjoyable day and loved seeing all your lovely dogs. Thank you for your gracious acceptance of my placings too. All dogs seen had good ridges and all also had the correct bite.

Puppy Dog/Bitch 4 (1)

1st – Asharaa’s Perfect match with faahaac. Catharell, mrs Caroline and Larkin, Mrs Janet.

Stunning Liver nose boy who shows great promise. Very handsome typical balanced head with eyes complimenting his colouring very well. Good length of neck which flows into a good topline which was held on the move also. Pleasing front assembly with a good lay of shoulder and good coverage of muscle for his age. Typical deep chest with a nice spring of ribs. Pleasing rear angulation which didn’t disappoint on the move, despite the ring size not being the best for our breed. BPIB

2nd Negasi Thorin at Rexgrove. Jeffery, Mrs EL

Slightly younger male than 1st place, could still do with a little time to firm up in some areas but still lots to like about this youngster. Another pleasing head and a wonderful expression. Good length of neck and a nice front although feel he needs time to tighten up in elbow a touch. Good depth of chest and very much in proportion on the side profile. Powerful back with tail set well. Good coverage of muscle on the rear thigh and a lovely turn of stifle. Lovely tight feet. Lovely to see him enjoying his time in the ring

3rd Redcrown Hawaiian Fire. Kehoe, Miss A M & Phillips, Mr CR.

Young bitch who today took a real dislike to the flooring and noise inside the hall and sadly she wasn’t at her best. Would love to see her again in a different setting.

Junior Dog/Bitch 3

1st Saimon’s Pride Victorious Brabus with Rubiltra. Doughty, Mrs Tracey & Doughty Mr Russell.

Another male who possesses all the typical ridgeback qualities. He has good bone all over and is well proportioned throughout. Such a wonderful alert expression with just the right amount of dignified aloofness. Good broad head leading into a nice strong neck, well set ears and a straight front with well tucked in elbow, good spring of rib, powerful rear with lovely muscle coverage and a good turn of stifle. Moved effortlessly around such a small ring despite his masculine size. BOB. Also notice that he went on to be awarded HG3 later in the day. Well done.

2nd Asharaa’s Perfect match with faahaac (see 1st place puppy)

3rd Redcrown Hawaiian Fire

Post Graduate Dog/Bitch 3 (2)

1st Rubiltra Mitaa Wimbo At Jacquidon. Darnell, Miss Jacqui & Darnell, Mrs Edwina

Another balanced male with a great expression. Slightly lighter in bone than some of the others today but still masculine in appearance. Strong neck, good lay of shoulder and a spacious chest. Good length to his loin and nice muscle tone to his rear. Tail set well and carried well on the move. Nice tight feet. Moved out well despite the ring size. RBOB
