Dalmatian Critiques.

Judge: Mr Colin Goodswen (Alphadal)

It has been an ambition of mine to be able to judge at a County show dog show, and this day didn't disappoint. Thank you so much to the Officers and committee for allowing me to judge my wonderful breed at this lovely show. A huge thank you to my two heroes of the day, Steve and Joy Whiting for volunteering to step in, last minute, to steward for me... And what a fantastic job they both did!!

Thank you also to the exhibitors that entered under me and brought their lovely, well behaved dalmatians for me to judge. All exhibits had the correct bite and all demonstrated excellent temperaments.

Puppy D/B (2 entries, 0 absent)

1st Mrs E Wootton's Tolkain Caliban, 10 month old black spotted male. Nicely decorated with good sized spots on an immaculate white coat. Nice head of correct proportions and lovely expression. Good length of neck to well defined withers and level topline. Nice depth of chest for his age with ample spring of rib. Moderate angulation to rear but overall well balanced. Moved well. Happy to award him Best Puppy.

2nd Mr R Downes & Mrs I Jennings's Odie Bailey Bear, 8 month old black spotted male. Another perfectly decorated young man in immaculate condition. Not as substantial as one but this will improve with age. Good length of neck with well laid back shoulders and perfectly straight forelegs. Really liked this boys make and shape but found it tricky to assess his movement, but this will undoubtedly improve with ongoing schooling.

Junior D/B (3 entries, 1 absent)

1st Mrs JM Saunders & Mrs LM David's Dallydyl Honey Trap, 16 month Liver spotted female. A beautifully decorated, pretty young lady who grabbed my attention. Lovely amber eyes set in her correctly proportioned head. Good length of neck into well laid back shoulders. Her angles fore and aft perfectly frame her balanced outline. Very nice forequarters, depth of chest and spring of rib. Her movement today was rhythmic and steady, at one with her handler, delighted to award her BOB.

2nd Mrs K Hughes's Sophtspot New Gold for Siberiadrift, 16 month black spotted female. Another perfectly presented with well defined spots. Nice femine head and good length of neck to well defined withers. Nice level topline which she carried well on the move. Moved well.

Post Graduate D/B (5 entries, 0 absent)

1st Mrs AM & Mr M Finlay's Dvojica Excuse My French at Dalfin JW, 1 yr 8 month old black spotted female that I have long since admired. Such a pretty girl with a kind expression. Good length of neck to a nice level topline and well set tail. She has well laid back shoulders and her elbows are set close to her body. Her rear angulation is as impressive as her forequarters and overall has a very balanced outline. Her movement was smooth and powerful. She challenged for BOB, which was a difficult and very tight decision. Pleased to award RBOB.

2nd Mrs I Cowper's Perditas Never Say Never, 2 yr 2 month old Liver spotted male. A very handsome boy with a strong head and muzzle with lovely amber eyes. Nice straight front to tight catlike feet. Moderately angled fore and aft, but overall nicely balanced. Was lively and slightly unsettled today, but was handled well to show off his impressive movement.

Open D/B (no entries).
