1. Brook’s Poodle (Standard), Sculbrook Raising the Odds. Striking upstanding 9-month-old black dog. Beautifully trimmed and handled, to enable him to show himself off in style. Well balanced, elegant looking, with proud carriage. Long, chiseled head, with good expression. Correct neck, well laid shoulders and straight front legs of the right width apart. Deep chest, short body, well developed thighs, well bent stifles and hocks well let down. Good tail set. Moved well with plenty of drive when he got going. Very mature, one to watch. BEST A.V.N.S.C. UTILITY & BEST A.V.N.S.C. PUPPY.
2. Fisher’s Chow Chow, Shulian San Angelo Star at Poppykins. What a lovely Chow puppy, full of personality and style. Super head, with flat, broad skull. Large and wide black nose. Characteristic bluish-black tongue, with roof of mouth and flues black. Dark, clean eyes and small, slightly rounded tipped ears correctly set to give the scowling expression. Well-boned and muscled. In excellent condition and presented in abundance of coat. Moved well in a true Chow fashion. Maturing nicely. Another to watch.

JUNIOR (5)
1. Stevenson’s Shih Tzu, Chanikos Tangerine Dream of Shenleyvale. Broad, round head and wide between the eyes. Beard and whiskers coming well. Hair on muzzle having the correct ‘chrysanthemum’ like effect. Nose slightly tip tilted and wide-open nostrils. Arched neck. Well laid-back shoulders. Well-muscled and presented in good condition. Coat coming through well. Tail well plumed and carried over her back. Moved smoothly, reaching out in front and showing pads in the rear.
2. Dickson’s Japanese Spitz, Cheechako Miss Mouse in Bernavia. A very feminine bitch, with soft expression. Going through that ‘junior bitch’ stage with coat not at it’s best. But a nice specimen and good to go over. Dark eyes with black rims and small triangular mobile ears, set high. Arched neck and straight back. Balanced outline, with tail plumed and carried curved over the back. Moved light and nimbly.

2. Geeson’s Poodle (Standard), Janavon’s Amazing Grace. Another nice looking Poodle. Correct chiseled head. Well-muscled, boned and presented, with well bent stifles. Moved well.

1. Warnes’ Poodle (Miniature), Ch. Myhaven Chocolate Fancy. What a star this chap was. Caught my eye as soon as he came into the ring. Nearly nine years old. But couldn’t he move! Producing free and elegant movement with plenty of drive from well angulated hindquarters. Well balanced and elegant. Presented and handled to perfection. Well chiseled head, with dark, well-set eyes and correct expression. Excellent mouth and teeth. Good length of neck, short back and dense well-presented coat. High set tail. Not surprised to read he is a champion; he must have been a stunner when he was in his prime. He belied his age when he moved, being sound and true, showing reach and drive. RESERVE BEST A.V.N.S.C. 2. Dawson’s Poodle (Standard), Achara Girl on Fire JW. A very nice type, with correct shaped head, dark, well-set eyes and low set ears. Deep chest, short back and well bent stifles. Let herself down when she would not concentrate when moving. I gave her a couple of chances, but she would not move straight to access her movement.

1. Thurston & Watson’s Korean Jindo, Liubice Donovan (AI). A nice example of the breed, well balanced, with good temperament and likeable personality. Blunt triangular shaped head, of correct proportions. Dark brown almond shaped eyes, giving keen expression. Correctly set triangular ears, used well. Definite stop. Slightly arched neck. Strong forequarters. Good length of body. Firm level back. Well-muscled, strong hindquarters. Sickle type tail, set on high. Moved well with moderate length strides. In good coat of a lovely red colour. BEST A.V. IMPORTED BREED REGISTER.

1. Lord’s Xoloitzcuintle (Mexican Hairless), Sanqrereal Space Oddity. Showed well when he concentrated. Good, strong head, large, long ears and dark almond eyes, giving correct expression. Slight arch to neck, body longer than height, deep chest, firm level topline with slightly rounded rump. Well-muscled and bodied. Correct tail set and carriage. Did not concentrate when moving. RESERVE BEST A.V. IMPORTED BREED REGISTER.

1. Wallington’s Dallyador Secret Passion for Rovinjdal JW. Mature 4-year-old bitch. with a feminine, well-proportioned head. Good eyes and well-set ears. Well laid-back shoulders. Straight forelegs with strong round bone. Good depth of chest and forechest, giving correct width between front legs. Level back, strong loin, well-muscled hindquarters, good turn of stifle and well-set tail. Presented in fit condition. Produced a good outline. Movement improved as she got into her stride, covering the ground with ease. BEST OF BREED.
2. Penn’s Dalfellin Agape. Younger bitch, still maturing and developing nicely. She is lightly marked, has good head proportions, dark pigmentation and well-placed ears. She is elegant on the move and holds her shape and topline. Tightest of feet, being round, compact, well arched and cat-like. Stands four square, producing a lovely outline. Well defined spotting evenly distributed.

1. Wallington’s Rovinjdal Dare to Dream ShCM. Lovely 8-year-old liver and white masculine dog. Typical well-proportioned head. Well-muscled body. Forelegs perfectly straight, with strong round bone. A little rangier. Presented in superb condition. Moved very well, with good outline. RESERVE BEST OF BREED.

1. Symonds’ Marsanne Mavis. A nice healthy head, with dome forehead. Correct length of ‘bat ear’, well set. Mouth OK. I would have preferred a more cobby body and straighter movement behind.

2. Davies’ Eastonite Secret Mission. Square head in proportion to size. Skull nearly flat and domed forehead. Attractive ‘bat ears’, but not sufficient length to meet eyes. Preferred body of my first placed. RESERVE BEST OF BREED.

1. Hattrell’s Lhasa Apso, Corrolls Lorique at Khinjan. A lovely example of the breed. Being black with a lot of coat she appeared to be suffering in the hot weather and took a long time to get her tail up. Of correct size and feminine, but still with strength, well arched neck and level top-line. Balanced and compact. Lovely flowing, jaunty movement when she got going. Presented and handled very well. In super coat.

2. Dickson’s Japanese Spitz, Kessaku Yum Yum in Bernavia. A real showgirl of good breed type and quality. Lovely head, with nicely shaped dark eye, giving soft expression. Correct small, triangular ears, set high. Well-proportioned and balanced. Outline of correct size. Well boned. Excellent muscled rear quarters, with moderate angulation. Small round cat-like feet. Light, energetic movement. Excellent white double coat.

GROUP THREE: Beveridge’s Tibetan Spaniel, Gianni It’s Denzil. A masculine headed dog shown in excellent condition and good coat. Lovely head and expression of good proportions, correct eyes and bite, ample cushioning on muzzle with well-defined chin. Well structed body and moved well.
GROUP FOUR: Thomas’ Tibetan Terrier, Kelmorespitz Dazzled Storm JW. Black and white, square shape, with good topline and tail set. Balanced head with good muzzle, dark eye and good pigment. Straight front.

PUPPY GROUP FOUR: Neale’s Tibetan Spaniel, Saxtead Toot Sweet. A nice type of puppy, developing well, but still very much a baby.

1. Thomas & Bull’s Bullmastiff, Phoria’s Eden. Clear fawn baby of 7 months. But what a wonderful outline and presence. Lovely feminine head with good pigmentation. Broad and square skull. Short and square muzzle. Ears placed correctly to enhance the square head. Good neck. Well-developed chest, good bone, well-muscled for a bitch so young. Straight back, with muscular hindquarters. Well balanced all through and responding well to her handler. Moved out with confidence. BEST NOT SEPARELY CLASSIFIED WORKING PUPPY.
2. Hosie’s Newfoundland, Mississippi-Missouri Vellie for Shadowrise. Still very much a baby and needs time to mature. Presented a balanced outline with good proportions. Attractive head with lovely dark brown eye. Body will come with age. Muscular thighs coming and well let down hocks. Moved out well. Webbed feet.

1. Hosie’s Newfoundland, Newfangled Roole the World for Shadowrise. Caught my eye as soon as she entered the ring. Giving a noble, majestic appearance. Broad, domed head with no defined stop. Short, level muzzle and good mouth. Correct dark brown eyes. Good shoulder angulation and forechest, straight front legs, with chest deep and fairly broad. Well-built hindquarters with well let down hocks. Webbed feet. Flowed around the ring effortless with good reach and strong drive. In good coat. BEST NOT SEPARATELY CLASSIFIED WORKING.
2. Thomas’ Bullmastiff, Phoria’s Seventh Heaven. Bother to the puppy winner and similar remarks apply. I felt on the day the bitch just had the edge. I will follow both’s future with interest. Lovely head and expression, with good ear set to enhance his square head. Good wide spreading nostrils. Muscular neck enhancing his overall balance and topline. Moved out well.

1. Cronin’s Canadian Eskimo Dog, Norstella Lost Jewel. Balanced overall, with good mouth and head. Nice straight forelegs and level back. Hindquarters muscular with good turn of stifle.

1. Mackenzie’s Great Dane, Carsan Vincent. A lovely mature blue male with matching eyes. Full of elegance and grace but very masculine and majestic. Good length of head of correct proportions. Blunt nose and large nostrils. Long, well arched neck. Shoulders well laid, brisket reaching elbows. Forelegs perfectly straight. Well filled front with plenty of depth and width through body. Muscular hindquarters, good turn of stifle, hocks set low. Good tight cat-like feet. Moved very well covering the ground with ease. RESERVE BEST NOT SEPARATELY CLASSIFIED WORKING.
2. Cronin’s Canadian Eskimo Dog, Akna Warhorse. Unfortunately, not enjoying his day. Apparently, he was distracted by his kennelmates in season, had lost weight and losing his coat badly. Reasonable head, with dark eyes and well-set ears. Was too distracted to show well, which was a shame.

2. Clark’s Rottweiler, Botlierskop Capella. A lovely baby, only 6 months old and very immature. Pleasing outline on the stack. Well-proportioned feminine head. Broad in skull, with a lovely dark eye, neat ears, all giving an alert and intelligent expression, with correct markings. Lovely muzzle of correct strength with clean lips and flews. Good neck which was well set and flowed nicely into the shoulders. Forechest coming. Firm topline. Hind muscles developing with hocks well angulated. Presented in good condition and glassy coat. Moved out well, covering the ground.

2. Kay’s Boxer, Miofrey Shooting Star. A feminine brindle bitch. Correct, well-proportioned feminine head, dark eyes, correct bite and teeth. Round, arched, strong neck and well laid shoulders. Straight, well boned forelegs. Square body, correct topline, well angulated stifles and low set hocks. Moved well.
3. Kuech’s Boxer, Boese Jiggerlardo.

1. Stretch’s Boxer, Braybox Quickstep. Nice mature, smart dog. Appealing head with good balance of skull and muzzle. Dark, intelligent, expressive eyes. Well set ears completed the picture. Strong, arched neck leading into good shoulders. Strong topline, with well angulated hindquarters and good hocks. Well-muscled, with correct bone. Well balanced and moved well.
VETERAN (2)
1. Ashley’s Boxer, Cherryforge Quevega. A nice old brindle lady. Good head with dark eyes and neat ears. Strong muscular neck leading into sloping shoulders. Broad, deep chest. Square bodied. Good hind angulation, giving the correct picture on the move. Good bone throughout. BEST WORKING VETERAN.
WORKING GROUP
BEST WORKING: Wheeler’s Boxer, Olibetay Bella Rosie at Hipkins. Absolutely loved this very striking brindle and white Boxer bitch, who is so anatomically sound. I was delighted the BIS judge thought the same, giving her the top spot. Beautiful head with good balance of skull and muzzle. Correct dentition and depth to underjaw. Dark brown eyes, giving intelligent expression. Well set ears enhancing the head shape. Lovely reach of neck into long, sloping shoulders, giving excellent front construction. Straight, parallel forelegs with good bone. Correct spring and depth of chest. Strong topline, slightly sloping back, well-muscled loin and hindquarters, with good angulation. Producing a lovely outline. Well up on her toes. Good movement with strong driving action from her hindquarters, good reach in front and super side gait, covering the ground with ease. Good bone and correct cat-like feet. Presented in lovely condition. BEST IN SHOW.

GROUP THREE: Read’s Leonberger, Lionscourt Prince Kuhio with Onaway. Nearly 3 years old, well-proportioned masculine dog, correct size, with head in balance with body and limbs. Masculine, well-proportioned head, dark eyes with kind expression. Dark mask and correct dentition. Strong neck, well laid shoulders. Plenty of bone and a straight front. Firm and straight back. Well-muscled and strong hindquarters. Movement sound, even and true, showing reach and drive in profile. Presented in good coat and condition.
GROUP FOUR: Ferretti’s Siberian Husky, Articskies Super Trouper for Lyrvid. I fell for this very stylish, attractive, young bitch puppy, so quick and light on her feet, feminine but with no weakness. Finely chiseled fox-like, well-proportioned head. Correct keen eyes and triangular erect ears. Arched neck going into well laid shoulders. Forelegs parallel and straight with elbows close to the body. Firm, strong topline with slight tuck-up. Lovely turn of stifle and muscled hindquarters. Smooth and effortless movement. Presented and handled well. Her striking colour and markings finished the picture. Will watch her future with interest.
