Dorset County Canine Society

Miniature Poodle, Dalmatian, Keeshond, Boston Terrier, Tibetan Terrier, French Bulldog

Thank you for the invitation from DCCS to judge at your open show and to Barry my super steward. Thank you also to the exhibitors for the opportunity to go over your lovely dogs.

Poodle (Miniature)

Open (1)

1: Cann’s, Sunmarca Stars in her Eyes. 11 month old black Bitch who is already looking quite mature. Feminine head, dark sparkling eyes and nice expression. Strong loin, and already some nice muscle tone in upper thigh. Beautifully turned out, coat in good condition, neat dark nails. Movement was a bit jittery in the wind today. She held her head up proudly and did show some moments of good drive, but would have preferred to see more front extension and a bigger ground covering stride. BOB & BP

Dalmatian

Special Yearling (6)

1: Edens, Steyndal Diamond White at Dalens. 11 month old B/S bitch with ring presence. Beautiful spotty face, dark eye, lovely cheeky expression. Instantly attractive on the stand, well made with good bone. Excellent front with good width to forechest. Good proportions and is balanced. Nice for height, strong loin, neat cat feet. Boldly decorated with good pigment. Her movement was fluid, with rhythmic economic steps showing good reach and drive. BP (PGp3)

2: Bridge’s, Akoni Athos Comte De La Fere. 14 Month old B/S Dog. Lovely head, masculine, but free from coarseness, nice ear set and carriage. Decent width to forechest, good proportions and angulation. Plenty of bone and substance. Well muscled rear legs. Tight feet. With some secondary spotting he doesn’t have the eye catching decoration of others, but look beyond this, there is plenty to like. Movement was strong and powerful, with a little elasticity to his steps. He easily covered the ground and had a flowing economical gate and good tail carriage.

3: Howard’s Decoda’s Crackerjack

Post Graduate (6/2A)

1: England & Edens, Dalens Queen Of The Seas At Silverspot. 2 year old B/S bitch. Pretty face, intelligent expression, lovely well arched neck. Well balanced, enough bone, super feet. An honest bitch, well schooled, and attentive to her handler. Easily covered the ground on the move with a pleasingly steady rhythmic and economical gait, carrying herself well and maintaining her topline.

2: Williamson’s, Decoda’s Captain Tom. 2 year old happy L/S dog. Appealing head, strong, masculine, with soft kind expression. Lovely substance, good forechest, and depth of brisket. Towards the taller end of the standard but with good over all balance, he is easy on the eye. Super feet. Evenly distributed dark liver decoration completes the picture. Some high spirits on the move but when settled showed good drive and extension with easy ground coverage.

3: Bridge’s Keiradal Moulin Rouge at Akoni.

Open (4/1A)

1: Howard Riddles’s, Shydally Star Attraction. 2.5 year old B/S bitch. Feminine head with kind expression. Good length of neck, well defined withers. Balanced. Enough bone for her frame. Eye catching decoration, bold spots, evenly distributed with excellent pigment. Movement today was sublime. The smoothest of gaits, effortless, economic with lovely even rhythm and absolutely no wasted energy. She covered the ground with ease, keeping her topline at all times. BOB (Gp2)

2: Thorner’s, Alphadal’s Sweet Dreamer of Naracoopa. 3 year old B/S Bitch who was unsettled today. Nice length of neck, well defined withers. Good bone. Towards the taller end of the standard. Lean and very fit with a good tuck up, strong rear leg muscles. Flashy decoration, bold spots with good pigment on gleaming white. Movement was erratic. Some glimpses of powerful drive but at times flailing her front legs and consequently not showing adequate extension or covering enough ground.

3: Cole’s Keiradal Mel’s Destiny

Keeshond

Open (5/2A)

1: Marshall’s, Arabesque At Devonia (Imp Rus) 4 year old Dog who stood out on the stand. Obviously masculine but totally free from coarseness. Gentle, kind expression, with endearing eyes and clear spectacle markings. Well defined stop on nicely balanced head, good ear set. Moderate reach of neck, large ruff. Good width to forechest, and depth of brisket. Balanced in angulation, square proportions. Neat cat feet. Beautifully turned out, with coat in super condition. Shown to advantage, this well schooled boy moved cleanly and briskly. BOB

2: Marshall’s, Devonia Black Pearl. 2 Year old Bitch who is a true watch dog and quite full of herself! Feminine head, clearly defined spectacles, well set on expressive ears. Balanced in angulation with nice square proportions. Well set tail. Out of coat today. Won over 3rd on the last go around: clever handling allowing her to showcase her brisk sharp action.

3: Redler & Wheatley’s Keitakes You Are My World

Boston Terrier

Open (4/2A)

1: Hamlin’s, Devotoblaze Hope’s Miracle. 10 month old brindle Bitch. Lovely graceful head, charming expression and really used her ears to advantage. Elegant neck, compact in body with moderate tuck up, strong loin. Even markings that are pleasing to the eye. Smooth well conditioned coat. She moved with style and purpose, in perfect rhythm, full of show biz attitude and owned the ring. Loved her! Well turned out and handled to advantage. BOB BP (Gp4/PGp2)

2: King’s, Wynele Maid to Order at Uthando. 18 month old brindle Bitch. Well proportioned head, with the sweetest of expressions. Would prefer a more elegant neck. Good chest and depth of brisket, nice tuck up, strong loin, well muscled. White markings did not complement her conformation as well as 1’s. Seemed unhappy in the wind/cold today and this was reflected in her movement which lacked power and purpose.

Tibetan Terrier

Special Yearling (5)

1: Knight’s, Home Town Glory. 14 month old gold bitch who oozes with femininity. Loved her beautiful head, dark expressive eyes and super aloof expression. Head in balance with her body, carried elegantly above her back. Square in outline and nice for height. With her colouring she is eye catching on the move, but this is underpinned with sound economic action, nice rhythm, generous front extension, and drive. BOB (Gp3)

2: Stickley’s, Silgarhi Holymoses at Walkamile. 10 month old well made black Dog. Obviously male but not coarse. He has the darkest of eyes and an aloof expression. Well proportioned, and everything in perfect balance, a sturdy, square. Good set on of tail. Super coat. He has a workman like gait, economic, rhythmic, with correct footfall, excellent drive and could clearly walk up mountains all day. BP (PGp1)

3: Rutley’s, Javeys Tiger Lilli.

Post Graduate (1)

1: Plummer’s, Araki Dream Perfection For Tetsikarma JW. 16 month old Black and white bitch. Strong muzzle, dark eyes, but head not as feminine as I would prefer. She is well up to size, though her head is in proportion to her body so she doesn’t look out of balance. Good depth of brisket and bend of stifle, low set hocks. Her coat is flowing and in beautiful condition. Movement was OK.

Open (1)

1: Rutley’s, Sumanshu Pretty Woman at Javey (Imp Ned). 6 Year old sturdy black bitch. Head, clearly feminine, with a lovely dark eye and good expression, held well above the body and in proportion to it. Strong muscular neck. Super depth of brisket. Seemed a little lazy on the move initially but when she got going showed excellent drive, enough reach, and good economic paces.

French Bulldog

Special Yearling (4)

1: Brooks & Cairns, Corursus Become The One JW. 15 month old brindle Dog. Strong masculine head of good shape with nice turn up of lower jaw. Lovely endearing dark eyes, ears well set and of nice shape and size. Cheeky expression. Good width to chest, excellent depth of brisket, slight tuck up, strong loin. Movement was fluid, straight and with purpose, with back legs clearly visible between front when coming towards me. BOB

2: Prichard’s, Ruption Knightcott Black Diamond at Violotta. 14 month old brindle dog. Smart dog with appealing balanced head, well placed dark eyes, and lovely expression. Good width to chest but less developed here than 1. Strong rear. Attractive shade of brindle with coat in lovely condition. Didn’t move with as much drive and purpose as 1.

3: Barrett’s Thomas The Steam Tank

Post Graduate (1)

1: Barrett’s, Thomas The Steam Tank. 22 month old brindle pied Dog who was third in previous class. He has an intelligent expression but would prefer a darker eye and ears not quite so long. He is long in the leg, possibly visually exaggerated by his markings. Would prefer him more compact, with more bone and muscle tone throughout. Moved Ok but not as well as other class winners.

Open (2)

1: French’s, Ravenside C’est La Vie at Bincombefarm. 3 year old smart brindle bitch who was very expressive, using her ears to advantage. Nicely put together she was pleasing to the eye with no exaggeration. Excellent width to chest, good depth of brisket, well sprung ribs, gentle roach to back. Sturdy with a well muscled rear. Good coat. Moved with purpose and made the ring her own.

2: Barrett’s Thomas The Steam Tank . Critique in Post Grad.
