A very nice show at a very picturesque venue.
Bearded Collie
Junior (2,0)
1st: Burfitt’s Breaksea Skylab. Of nice overall shape and make. Good eye shape and set. Broad enough in skull. Neck is of good length. Balanced in angulation. Firm topline. Tail set and carriage are typical. Easy, sound action.
2nd: Burfitt’s Breaksea Truly Scrumptious. Like 1st of a very nice make and shape. Head is developing well. Well proportioned and has good angles throughout. Rather unsettled on the move.
Post Grad (1,0)
1st: Burscough’s Kilfinan Ladybird. A very nice eye-catching bitch. Good feminine head, yet still enough strength. Eyes are a nice shape and give a kind expression. Very well proportioned with excellent firm topline. She has very nice lay to shoulders and return to upper arm, matched well at the rear with ideal turn of stifles. Low hocks. Tail carriage is excellent. Very classy mover. Just preferred the overall picture and maturity of the BOB winner.
Open (4,0)
1st: Edward’s Nellbrook Pure Imagination JW. A smart bitch with lots of breed type. Head has decent strength and width and her expression is very kind and gentle. I very much like her construction which shows good angulation throughout. Chest reached to elbows and has enough width. Firm topline. Tail set and carriage are typical of the breed and I feel she moves in a very breed typical fashion. In very good condition. BOB
2nd: Burscough’s Talraz Light Up The Sky For Kilfinan. A really show boy, just a fraction too much of him for my personal preference. Typical head. Moderate angulation throughout. Moves nice in profile but was very close behind on the day. Needs firmer hocks. Very well presented.
3rd: Stockwell & Paterson’s Winterlyn Amethyst Reef
Border Collie
Junior (2,0)
1st: Large’s Wizaland My Jeztic Socks. At 8 months, obviously still very raw, but shows promise. Quite nice in shape. Head developing well and shows good balance. Eyes are well set and correct for shape. Ears ok for set. Neck medium in length. Moderate lay of shoulder and upper arm ok for return. Nice bone for age. Firm topline. Chest developing well. Rather more angulation behind at present. Sound in gait. BP
2nd: Charlesworth’s Ginnylands Tom Thumb. Quite strong in skull. Nice body shape and proportions. Very good angulation all through. Deep chest which is carried well back. Firm topline. Moves ok when settled.
Post Grad (3,0)
1st: Buckley’s Tambuzi True Colours To Amkamel For me, she presents a nice picture standing, if a little long in foreleg for my preference. I felt she was rather long in the muzzle and this rather detracted from the overall expression. Lovely neck flowing into well laid shoulders. Firm topline and well ribbed. Correct bend of stifle. Moves very soundly, but perhaps not quite in such a typical breed fashion as others. Presented in tip top condition.
2nd: Large & Preston’s Calareto Mist In My Soul. I feel she is quite small. Pretty head and has better proportion of skull to muzzle than 1st. Eyes ok for shape. Ears little difficult to assess. A little bit timid, but nothing that I’m sure she won’t grow out of. Moderate angles. Moves soundly.
3rd: Charlesworth’s Ginnylands Roll The Dice
Open (3,0)
1st: Lavington’s Sheltysham Secret Space for Sandmont ShCM. An upstanding dog. Masculine without being coarse. Eyes good for placement, shape and dark in colour. Neck could be a tad longer to create a more flowing line both standing and on the move. Moderate lay to shoulder. Upper arm angles back sufficiently. Deep chest of good width. Topline firm. Well bent stifles and low set hocks. Very muscular condition. Very flowing gait in profile. Tail carriage is not his fortune. BOB
2nd: Charlesworth’s Beesting Last Fling At Ginnylands. Basically a good head with correct balance of skull to muzzle. Skull slightly too domed. Eyes are wide set, but shade light in colour. Ear set ok. Moderate angled throughout. Moves soundly.
3rd: Larges’ Sh Ch Wizaland Songs From The Wood
Rough Collies
Junior (3,0) – A very promising class indeed.
1st: Hawkins’ Breckamore Welsh Honey For Brilyn. I really like this young bitch. I found her to be of a super shape. Lovely for type. Really attractive head with excellent head planes and such a typical expression. Good balance to skull and foreface. Wonderful eye shape and set. Ears are well set. Really excellent angulation fore and aft. Good bone. Excellent topline for age. Tail set and carriage very good. Low set hocks. Superb mover. Shall watch her progress with great interest. BOB & BP
2nd: Milligan & Marley’s Alfsden He Lives In You. A very promising dog indeed. Another I appreciated for construction. Head is of a nice type with good head planes and enough balance of skull to muzzle. Very expressive eyes. Very sound in body and developing very well. Very sound in profile. Just needs to firm up out and back now.
3rd: Beardsworth’s Maysinder Sapphire Reign – such a cutey and showing buckets of potential. Just needs to settle.
Post Grad (3,0)
1st: Williams’ Essanjay Scarlet Ribbons. Nearly 3 and very attractive. Parallel head planes. Good length through the head with stop set well for ideal balance. Has enough width. Ears are well set. Almond shape to eyes. Neck of good length. Well angulated throughout. Firm topline. Excellent mover. Totally out of coat on the day so hiding absolutely nothing.
2nd: Dix’s Barrenclough Diamond Skies. Very nice head type with excellent ears and eyes for shape and set. Typical expression. Angles are balanced. Chest is deep and carried well back. Tail appears a tad short. Moved very erratically, but she was sound enough.
3rd: Boyles Barrenclough Touch of Silk
Open (3,0)
1st: Beare’s Jemspark Maid In Secret. I thought she was a little weak in underjaw and this just affected the overall look. Eyes are ok for shape and set. Ears are perhaps a tad large. Neck is good for length and carriage and she is very well angulated and balanced. Really good mover, just not quite the type of my main winner here.
2nd: Williams’ Essanjay Fire And Ice. Eyes are good for shape and set and better ears than 1st. Typical expression and balance through the skull and muzzle. Not so good in construction as 1st and not as expansive or firm on the move as the winner. Presented in great condition.
3rd: Boyles’ Barrenclough Heart of Gold JW
GSD’s
Junior (1,0)
1st: Marina’s Shantallah Vasco Von Marinbox. Upstanding and good to go over. A very strong boy. Head is in proportion to body. Broad between ears. Skull to muzzle ratio is correct. Slightly longer than tall in proportions. Well laid shoulders and good return of upper arm. Decent bone. Deep chest. Well ribbed. Strong behind. Moves with purpose.
Post Grad (1,0)
1st: Cave’s Casiann Ate. More my type. Smaller all through. Lovely head with very typical expression. Well balanced through skull and muzzle. Eyes are almond shaped and reasonably dark in colour. Powerful neck leading to well laid shoulders. Excellent return to upper arm. Deep chest of good width. Topline slopes gently and is firm and well muscled. Good turn of stifles. Tail set and carried well. Very firm hocks. Moves with power and grace. BOB
Open (1,0)
1st: Finnigan’s Reykosa Brando. A big gentle lad who looks impressive on the stand. Good head with many nice breed features. Well constructed and very muscular throughout. In very good condition. Moves soundly.
Hungarian Pumi
Post Graduate (1,0)
1st: Edwards’ Pajko Fine N Dandy (Imp). Medium in size and a real clown today! Sturdy in body with moderate bone. Head is reasonably long, with decent proportions. Skull broad and slightly domed. Eyes are set quite wide apart. Maybe a tad light in colour. Well put together and sound on the move. Coat texture seems correct.
Open (1,0)
1st Edwards’ Cseresznyeskrti-Calfa Zajos (Hun Imp) Again, medium size and moderate. Shows pretty good breed type combined with a well-constructed body. Head is broad enough. Good mouth and pigment. Neck moderate in length. Square in outline. Level topline. Short loins. Belly shows correct degree of tuck up. Moves very soundly in profile and out and back. BOB
Lancashire Heeler
Post Gradate (1,0)
1st: Jones’ Mahogany Dawn of Barelydust. A little overwhelmed here really. Looked a tad leaner than I prefer. Decent head with flattish skull and good width between the ears. Medium stop. Almond shaped eyes. Moderate length to neck. Nicely put together. Topline is level. Stands on good strong legs. Presents a very good sound stride when she goes around the ring.
Samoyeds
Junior (2,1)
1st: Gwynne’s Rosnorske Royal Amethyst. My find of the day! Most beautiful bitch with gorgeous Sammy smiling expression. Lovely wedge-shaped head with flat skull and is broad enough. Lovely dark pigment. Expressive, almond shaped eyes which are dark in colour. Ears set well apart and of lovely shape with slightly rounded tips. Strong neck. Superb construction with great shoulders and return of upper arm which are well balanced at the rear. Good chest for depth and width and tight elbows. Great proportions. Strong topline. Strong loins. Low set, strong hocks with the degree of definition I look for. Excellent tail set and carriage. In most beautiful coat and condition, with silver hairs glistening in the sunlight. First class mover. I absolutely adored her. Super bitch, whose career I shall follow with great interest. BOB & BP.
Open (2,1)
1st: Gwynne’s Vandreem Imperial Katriona With Rosnorske. Dam of my BOB and I can see many of her qualities here. Again, an adorable, typical head which screams Samoyed! Very good conformation all through and I appreciated her nice balanced construction too. Not quite as good in upper arm as the winner. Very good, sound mover. Lovely bitch, but her daughter has that touch of stardust! 2 super dogs.
Shetland Sheepdogs – Some really great quality here. Thank you!
Junior (3,0)
1st: Mottram’s Lundecock’s Hoopie-Doo At Lochkaren (Imp Swe) 9 months and I absolutely adored him. Very attractive masculine head. Still has some work to do, as I’d like the muzzle to develop a tad including a bit more underjaw. Very good parallel head planes. Eyes are almond in shape and set obliquely. Ears are well set. Super make and shape to body with excellent angulation throughout. Already good bone. Beautiful legs and feet. Tail is set correctly and carried well on the move. Super profile gait once settled. A real little star who I couldn’t resist for BOB despite his age. Very exciting prospect as he matures on. BOB & BP
2nd: Sutherland’s Shelcrest Winter Soltice At Suthesley JW. Another nice one. Slightly larger and not in such profuse coat on the day. Good parallel head planes. Enough length and good firm underjaw. Skull and muzzle of equal length. Well positioned stop. Bit deeper through the skull than 1st. Neck is moderate in length. Moderate angles all through. Topline firm. Tail set and carriage are very good. May be just a tad long in body. Moves so very well around the ring.
3rd: Botham’s Balidorn Burnt Gold
Post Graduate (3,0)
1st: Rosslyn’s Balidorn Golden Amber. Nice bitch for size and shape. Head planes could be slightly more parallel. Correct balance of skull and muzzle. Eyes are amber in shape and dark. Ears could be slightly higher set for my preference. Well angulated. Deep chest and wide enough. Level topline. Tail set and carriage are good. Light mover in profile and very tidy out and back.
2nd: Sutherland’s Shougies Starmaker at Suthesley. Masculine. Head planes ok. Slight bump in topline of muzzle. Medium stop. Underjaw could be slightly stronger. Eyes are almond shaped and dark in colour. Neck perhaps a tad stuffy compared to 1st. Medium angulation throughout. Well balanced. Firm hocks. Very sound mover. In excellent coat and condition.
3rd: Botham’s Balidorn Christmas Star
Open (1,0)
1st Sapsford’s Shelcrest Frosted Lace. A pretty girl. Doesn’t quite have the blunt wedge I’m looking for. Just a bit pointed in muzzle. Ears look a tad large. Eyes are almond in shape. I feel she has a very good body with excellent angulation. Super topline and very typical underline. Good for bone. Nice shape to feet. Excellent mover. Just not quite the same expression as my main winners here today.
Welsh Corgi Pembroke
Post Graduate (1,0)
1st: Morris’ Dzhimis Olwen Footprint of Russia (Imp Rus). Very strong and firm in body – so muscular! Quite strong in head for me. I’d prefer a slightly shorter muzzle and more femininity. Eyes are ok for shape and set and are dark. Ears ok for set. Well angulated. Level topline. Moves very soundly indeed. Exhibited in tip top condition for sure. BOB
