Finnish Spitz Club

Swedish Vallhund

This was without doubt a very quality entry. The Club had provided superb rosettes for the winners. All in all, a fabulous appointment with a beautiful natural breed that I very much like judging. Thank you to the exhibitors for bringing along this quality!

Limit D/B (1,0)

1st: Antieul, Stockbridge & Sibley’s Feuervale’s Torchwood (Imp Che). Still looking quite immature. Quite refined through the head and overall could be slightly more of a blunt wedge in shape. Correct eyes and ears. Nicely put together and moving soundly. Ok for length of leg. Little short of coat on the day. Didn’t move to advantage on this surface. Harness markings are present.

Open Dog (1,0)

1st: Strong & Clinton’s Ch Ohanaway Having A Blast At Mackjama. Certainly an upstanding, powerful lad. His head is well proportioned and presents a blunt wedge. Eyes are oval and dark. Ears are moderately spaced and of correct shape. Ok for expression. Very masculine. Good firm neck and well laid shoulders. Upper arm is positioned correctly. Strong legs. I’d prefer just a tad more length of leg under him. Firm topline. Good length of chest, but maybe just a tad wide. Harness markings are present. Tail is high set. Well angulated behind and firm hocks. A very sound mover indeed. I feel he would look far better on a different surface in profile. He wasn’t really able to show me his full potential. BD

Open Bitch (3,0)

A class that would have graced any championship show. A delight to judge! Thank you!

1st: Dodd’s Ch. Tanellis Bloomin Primrose. A super bitch. Well-proportioned head with very typical expression. Eyes are oval and dark and she had correct shape and placement of ears. Moderate length to neck. Shoulders well laid. Good length to foreleg. Chest deep and ok for width and length. Topline is firm. Could perhaps just be a fraction longer. Lovely hind angulation and hocks. Lovely feet. In super condition. Correct markings. Moved as if she owned the ring.

2nd: Strong & Clinton’s Ch Ohanaway She’s A Rebel. A bitch who certainly knows how to show herself off. Very expert handling too! I feel she is a very feminine girl with a typical head and expression. Good markings. Her neck is of good length and her angulation fore and aft is very good. Decent enough in chest. Firm in topline. Good tail set and carriage. For me, she just needs to mature on and fill out a tad. She could also perhaps have a slightly longer leg, which is where I preferred the winner overall on the day. Very sound mover and impressive in profile.

3rd: Sibley’s Chipmaker’s Que Sera Sera at Thorjakker (Imp Swe)

Veteran Bitch

1st: Dodd’s Ch Hurstfield Renen Vixen at Tannellis. A super bitch. Great head with dark oval eyes, correct markings and super expression. Ears are set well and correct for shape. Neck is super for length and leads to very well laid shoulders. Upper arm is positioned so as to give her maximum reach and freedom of movement. Chest is deep enough and of a width I was looking for. Great underline. Firm topline. Harness markings present. Super turn of stifles and firm hocks. Tail is set high and carried very well. In decent coat and beautiful condition. Superb mover from all angles. Real old school Vallhund whose outline, overall breed type and conformation really appealed to me. BOB & BVIB
