My thanks go to the officers and committee for inviting me to judge at this well run and friendly show. Thank you to my ring stewards who kept my rings running smoothly, and above all thank you to the exhibitors who bought their dogs for my evaluation.

Pointer

Puppy (1)

Gordon, MS W, Hawkfield Golly Gosh- 6-month-old FB/W bitch, she has the kindest expression complimented by the work in her head with pronounced occiput, fine leathers long slightly arched neck into a well laid shoulder. Enough depth of brisket for age, well-turned stifle with hocks let down. Moved soundly around the ring lashing her bee sting tail. Pleased to award her BP

Junior- No Entries

Postgraduate (2,1a)

Gordon, MS W, Hawkfield Pemberley- 2 ½ year old B/W dog, stacked he presented a picture of graceful curves. He had the most exquisite head with all the work and chiselling, well defined stop and kind expression. Strong slightly arched neck leading to well laid shoulders, good depth to brisket and a well sprung rib leading to strong well-muscled hindquarters with hocks well laid down. Moved soundly fore and aft and in profile lashing his bee sting tail, I had no hesitation in awarding him BOB.

Open (3)

Collins, MR D T & J A, Collholme Angelique- O/W bitch of lovely type, She has enough work in her head with slight dish appearance. Fine leathers, arched neck into well laid shoulders, good depth of body and firm top line. Pasterns well sprung, muscular hind quarters and her hocks well let down. Moved true fore and aft and In profile, using her tail well. Just preferred the overall outline of the BOB.

2nd Batchelor, MRS S, Sharnphilly Blanche To Kielderpoint- B/W A lovely bitch for type, she has all the work in her head and pronounced occiput. Fine leathers, arched neck to well laid shoulders, deep brisket, well ribbed and good sweep of stifle to well let down hocks. On the move she just wasn’t happy keeping her tail down, however, she was true fore and aft and showed enough reach and drive action in a small ring. I just preferred the overall way of going of the 1st

3rd Gordon & Howarth, MS W J & MR D, Hawkfield Jolly

Handling

6-11 (4,2a)

1st Livia Boryc age 11-both handler and dog were turned out well, An accomplished and polite handler who was always aware of where I was in the ring, she always had the dog stood well even when relaxed. When I shadowed the dog she kept out my way whilst always talking to the dog, when asked to do a pattern she kept her lines straight, dog and handler moved as one. She has a bright future in handling.

2nd Evelyn Hardy aged 8- Another polite handler who spoke to her dog. Unfortunately, the dog was not playing ball when being stacked, however, the handler took her time to get the very best out of the dog. She wasn’t so aware of me and blocked me particularly when I was shadowing, her pattern work was good and lines straight, however, wasn’t as fluent as first. An observation of this young handler was she had the lead in both hands this spoilt the overall picture when on the move. None the less another promising handler, keep up the good work.

12-16 (2)

1st Daisy Mason aged 16 -A superb handler who was always aware of where I was positioned in the ring and moved her dog at the correct pace. Both dog and handler were well turned out. She followed the golden rule of not getting between the dog and judge when I shadowed.Pattern work was clean and flowing. Best Junior Handler

2nd Ethan Warrener aged 14 – Promising young handler who presented himself and the dog well. He spoke to his dog at all times even when his dog wasn’t cooperating. He wasn’t always aware of myself in the ring and on a few occasions got in the way of the judge and the dog. His pattern work was clean, and lines straight, well done.

Adult Handling

17-39 (3,2a)

1st Paul Evans – A well turned-out handler showing a young dog, this handler wasn’t always aware of my whereabouts in the ring, particularly when I was shadowing. His lines were clean in the pattern work, just needs to work on not getting between the judge and the dog in the shadowing work.

40 years and over (8,3a)

1st Angela Mason- A sympathetic handler that was always aware of where I was in the ring, never blocking the dog from my view. This handler’s pattern work was exemplary moving her dog at the right pace, showing nice straight lines. A super handler, Best Adult Handler.

2nd Cath Parker- Another super handler who was always aware of my presence, being critical when shadowing. I would have liked her to mover further out my way, that said she never blocked the dog from the judge. Her pattern work was straight and flowing.
