Open (2,1a)

1st Byrnes’ Modus Maximus Santa Lucia With Bagmed 7 ½ year old b/s bitch. This girl is very good condition and is the dam of the junior dog. She has a good head with nice broad flat skull with set and neat ears used well, dark eye and good scissor bite. This girl has a lovely prominent forechest, well sprung rib and depth below her elbows, which sit tight to her body. Shoulder well laid back and return of upper arm matching to allow for free flowing front movement. Short in back and loin with an ok tail set and good carriage. Rear quarters the angles match those of the front with well muscled thigh, decent turn of stifle and well let down hocks. A lovely balance on the stand with slight slope and moved well showing reach and drive in profile maintaining a good topline, could have been slightly neater going away but gave me enough to award her BOB.

Handling

6 – 11 years

1st Georgia Mercer handling a Flat Coat. This handler was very good with her dog communicating well and giving praise. Showed teeth nicely. She moved at a pace which was good for her dog and listened to the patterned work and carried it out well. With experience I am sure this handler will do well both in handling and future breed judging.

2nd Eliza Darwish handling a Labrador. This young handler done well controlling her dog and showed the teeth ok. She performed the pattern work asked of her at a nice pace. Just needs to keep practising and remember to not get between the dog and judge.

12 – 16 years

1st Paige Hughes handling a Dalmatian. This handler presented her dog beautifully, ensuring she watched where I was at all times and moved accordingly to never obscure view. She showed the teeth well both sides and bite. Her pattern work was good, straight lines always turning the dog so she was always on the outside and at a good pace that showed of the dog’s movement. She should have a good future in all aspects of showing. Best Handler.

2nd Olivia Cogan handling a GSP. I am sure 1st and 2nd could change places on another day. Presentation was lovely, watched where I was and never obscured view. Showed teeth well, and corrected foot placement when needed. Her triangle was done well, on her straight up and down didn’t quite return on the same line. I am sure this handler will continue to do well.

17 + years

1st Wendy Smith handling a Smooth coat Chihuahua. A lovely partnership between dog and handler. I could hear lots of praise and encouragement from this handler and so her dog was attentive and worked well. Showed the teeth very well. Pattern work was very good and shown at good pace for a toy breed on slightly uneven ground to ensure nice movement.

2nd Debra Kay handling a Jack Russell. As with the previous class I am sure these two handlers could change places on other days. Lots of praise and encouragement between this pair too. Lots of the comments above apply here too. Handled very well at all times and with a correct pace for the dog, teeth shown very neatly.
