Bearded Collies

Puppy (3) Class with three nice puppies all rather full of the joys of spring which made movement hard to assess. 1, BP, Newson’s Beabeardies Treacle Toffee, 7 months slate, good overall proportions, well-balanced head, good layback of shoulder and turn of stifle, sufficient forechest for age, coat coming in nicely, moved OK. 2, Richards’ Wildan’s Dark Sky at Elemark, pleasing head and expression, black nose with open nostril, good pigment, good angulation both ends, at her first show and rather unsettled with the wind; 3, Bevis’ Beabeardies Xtra Special.

Junior (1) 1, RBOB, MacDougall’s Clanmac’s Hey There Delilah, well-presented fawn in good coat, pigment blending with coat colour. Good balance of muzzle to skull, well-laid shoulder, well ribbed up, good turn of stifle. Moved reasonably well though fighting her handler most of the time.

Post Graduate (3) 1, C Hey There Delilah; 2, Bevis’ Beabeardies Cinnamon Girl, aptly named, in good coat, feminine head, good height-length ratio, kept topline well and moved cleanly, at 3 years would like more forechest; 3, Newson’s Ramsgrove Russian with Love at Beardora.

Open (1) 1, BOB, Bevis’ Ramsgrove Sunshine at Beabeardies, 5y/o slate, went over this girl a year ago at her first show when I thought her of high quality but needing more schooling; she has clearly had plenty because she was by far the most settled mover today, clean out and back, excellent in profile with a light daisy cutting action covering lots of ground, very nice head and front with good fill, kept topline well, an overall quality typy bitch. A touch more attention to presentation wouldn’t come amiss but I liked her a lot.

Shetland Sheepdogs

Puppy (3) 1, BP, Norris’ Ferngrove’s Valentino 6 months sable, sound all through with excellent front of correct width, well-balanced angles, very good feet, sweet expression with good eye and ear placement, movement light and free; 2, Winfield’s Lirren Quickstep to Oakcroft, 11 months and much more mature with a lovely head and expression, used well placed ears all the time; strong rear end, clean going away. Rather wide in front and this was reflected in his front movement; 3, Norris’ Sabema Glitter in the Air.

Junior (2, 1abs) 1, Winfield’s Oakcroft Cosmic Flower 16 month sable, very nice make and shape, very typy, beautiful expression which she showed off well, well fitted jacket, just needs to relax in the ring a little more and enjoy her showing..

Post Graduate (7,3) 1, RBOB, Norris’s Saxonoak On The Beach, blue, head well balanced with clean cheeks, very good front, tight feet, strong rear end, moved very well all round, not a huge coat but a clear silvery blue; 2, Rutterford’s Kelgrove Midsummer Blue at Stormhead, another nice blue, pleasing head, well balanced, well turned stifle, in excellent coat, moved cleanly enough if without the freedom of 1; 3, Hounsell’s Myter Made of Magic.

Open (4) 1, BOB, Moore’s Sanscott Limited Edition, 4 y/o clear sable, nice masculine head with a pleasing expression, good ear placement and eye shape, profuse but well-fitted coat, well laid shoulder, good tail carriage and topline; strong rear and clean behind, moved the best in this class; would like a touch more return of upper arm; 2, Colman-Smith’s Kyleburn Sibylla at Shelridge, sable with a most attractive head and delightful expression, in good coat, strong rear and correct topline. Touch soft in pastern; 3, K Midsummer Blue at S.

Handling classes

Junior Handling Association

6-11 years (4,2) 1, BJH, Lyla-Rose Kirby with a WSS, moved the dog nicely, paid attention to instructions, corrected an error that she made, kept the dog between her and me, tidy handler; 2; Zuzanna Wojcik with a Cocker, clearly much less experienced, but willing to listen and learn, this should help her continue to progress.

Adult Handling Association

17-30 years (1) 1, Miss B Dimmock, with a Whippet, showed teeth correctly, listened well, asked for clarification when unclear, patterns were good; just a reminder not to drop the lead at any point.

31-45 years (2) 1, Becky Collier with a Cocker, very competent and professional, showed mouth correctly, lines consistently straight, kept out of my sightline, just use a bit more of the ring on the go round. 2, Justyna Lekawa with a Cocker, inexperienced but stood dog quite well and moved nicely in her patterns keeping lines straight. Shows promise but not quite as good at keeping the dog between herself and the judge

45-59 years (8,1) Very good handlers in this class. 1, BAH, Marianne Benton handling a Smooth Collie, and extremely good handler who stood her dog perfectly on a loose lead and moved likewise, pin sharp in her patterns, listened to instructions, kept the dog on her toes and was completely at one with her charge; 2, Jackie Wayman handling an ESS, another very professional handler who stacked and moved her dog very well, patterns were accurate, teeth showed correctly, made full use of the ring; 3, Paul Richardson.

60+ years (5,2) 1, Mr P W Osbourne handling an ESS, moved at the correct pace to get the best out of the dog, stood dog beautifully keeping dog between himself and judge at all times, listened to instructions, used the ring well, 2, Sheree Dickson with a Japanese Spitz, free stood the dog well, paid attention at all times, precise in her patterns and sympathetic to the dog; 3, Julie Remington.
