Afghan Hounds, Deerhounds, Salukis, A.V.N.S.C. and A.V. Import Register

Afghan Hound Puppy (1,1)

Afghan Hound Junior (2)

1. Kirk-Vickers’ Geordele Time To Shine at Istani JW. Lovely, typey 18 month old tri-colour bitch. Very together and ‘all of a piece’ for one so young. Loved her balance and proportions. Developing well in the body with super a super ribcage and short loin. Head of good length and strength, with well shaped eye. Good tailset, carriage and ring. Smooth and springy movement, with good carriage and holding her outline. BOB.

2. Humphreys’s Ayoubkhan Porcelain Dove. Ultra-feminine, 14 month old self-masked cream bitch. Presents a good outline and is very well constructed throughout. Very sound on the move. Lost out to the 1 on immaturity, both in body and performance.

Afghan Hound Post Graduate (5,2)

1. Walsh’s Calamus Devil In Disguise (Imp POL). 3 year old brindle male. Presents a good outline on the stack and holds it on the move. Masculine enough in head with good length, long neck into good front assembly. Stands over himself well. Level topline leads to prominent hip bones and good fallaway. Tail is well set but could be carried better on the move. Moved with good drive and carriage. RBOB.

2. Harwood’s Krishan Rainbow Warrior. Domino male just short of 3 years. Masucline throughout, though I’d prefer a little more refinement to his head. Balanced and in proportion. Strong neck, good front assembly, good depth of chest and spring of rib. Would prefer more bend of stifle, which shows more so on the move where he lacks stride. Nonetheless, movement is sound with good carriage.

3. Pearce’s Cloudside Barraca (AI).

Afghan Hound Open (4,3)

1. Anderson’s Affyneeta Keepsake at Geordele. 3 year old bitch tri-colour bitch. Beautiful head and eye, long neck into good shoulders. A little out at the elbow and short in leg. Good ribcage and short loin. Strong, well-angulated hindquarters with low hocks. Moved out very soundly but could not match the stride or outline on the move of her competitors in the BOB challenge.

Deerhound Puppy (1,1)

Deerhound Junior (1,1)

Deerhound Post Graduate (3)

1. Thom’s Flaxside Against All Odds. 3 year old bitch. Liked her for proportions and balance. Good neck and shoulder but could have more upper arm. Straight forelegs. Enough shape to topline. Sound, free and easy mover. RBOB.

2. Wilce-Quinton & Quinton’s Kirjojax Pancho. 2 year old bitch. On a larger scale than 1 and a little strong in head. Not the front of 1 but preferred the topline of 2, which was held well on the move. Lovely stride and outline in profile.

3. Thom’s Tiobraid Lady Morrigan.

Deerhound Open (5,3)

1. Wilce-Quinton & Quinton’s Kirjojax Harris. 2 year old dog. Masculine head of good length but would prefer more tapering to muzzle. Excellent neck and shoulder and okay in upper arm. Good balance, shape and substance. Sound and free on the move in all directions. BOB.

2. Davis’ Marivon Florence. 8 year old bitch. Lovely for type with a beautiful head and shapely outline. Excellent front construction. Moved soundly, especially for age.

Saluki Puppy (0)

Saluki Junior (0)

Saluki Post Graduate (1)

1. Ince’s Indianna Byrlince. 3 year old silver grizzle bitch. Feminine and shapely bitch. Refined head of good proportions and typical expression, held on a neck of good length and set. Balanced in angulation fore and aft. Could be a lot tidier coming and going but good profile movement. RBOB.

Saluki Open (2)

1. Harding & Cowley’s Classicus Odysseus at Ashahni. 2 year old deer grizzle dog. Scores for balance and general proportions, with a good outline. Excellent front construction and balanced hindquarters. Super infill, depth and spring of rib. A dog who must be appreciated for his general construction and soundness, his up and down movement is seldom seen when judging this breed. Moving very well in profile also, holding his outline but would just prefer a better tail set. BOB.

2. Ince’s Prince Allah. 6 year old deer grizzle. Very workmanlike and masculine. Excellent topline. Needs more front angulation but his moderate hindquarters powered him around the ring on the move. Excellent condition.

A.V.N.S.C. Hound Junior

1. Taylor-Smith’s Taorminensis Oriana (Imp ITA). 16 month old Cirneco Dell’etna bitch. Feminine bitch with such a quality and athletic appearance. Square in proportions and moderately balanced. Good head proportions with good length and detail to foreface. Lovely outline. Moving very well with a springy and free stride. I was really taken with her, liked her a lot. BAVNSC.

1. Binnersley & Tomkinson’s Covehithe Duke of Hazard. 4 year old Black And Tan Coonhound dog. Masculine and powerful in appearance. Masculine head held on a strong neck. Excellent front construction and balanced in rear. Firm topline held on the move. Very sound up and down but would have liked him to use his hindquarters more in profile. BAVIBR.
