Chesterfield & Pinxton KA – 14 May 2022

I would like to thank the Committee of the society for their kind invitation to judge at their show and the efficient steward who kept the ring running as we were pressed for time. Thanks also to and the exhibitors for bringing their dogs and their good sportsmanship in accepting my decisions.

GORDON SETTER – P 1 BOB & BP, Ashley-Turner’s Hernwood The Botanist; 11 month old dog fully grown with profuse coat but still needing to fill his frame. Correct body proportions with masculine head and ample bone. Movement was erratic but the ring really didn’t aloow him to get into his s tride. 2 Crosbie’s Moonglade Magic Pearl at Heatherway. Pretty 6 month old bitch at the gangly stage of development, with feminine head and kind expression. Well put together all through with lovely bone. Just needs time as you would expect at this age. COCKER SPANIEL – P 1 & BP, Winder’s Harbethol Look That’s Magic for Kevuliawin; 10 month old mature looking blue roan dog. Pleasing head with correctly placed ears. Muscular neck into well placed shoulders and nice well rounded rear. Sound and positive mover. 2 Cox’s Kimapa Kune Kinch; 6 month old, blue roan bitch with pretty head and correct length of neck. Lovely make and shape her forequarters didn’t quite match those of 1 today but a very promising happy puppy. 3 Wilding’s Lochranza Back For Good. J 1 Sewell’s Wuattrozampe Chuffed T’Bits. 15 month old bitch, feminine head with well placed ears and kind eyes. Moderate through neck and pleasing angles fore and aft. I would prefer slightly stronger head and more width of body but a sound and positive mover. PG 1 & BOB, Saunders’ Carmelfair Corocenzo at Oxfordogs; 2 year old blue roan dog, appealing masculine head with gentle eye and well set ears. Correct length of neck into correctly constructed and proportioned body. Beautifully presented in full coat with driving movement completing the picture. 2 Proudler’s Kimapa Kwarta Korki; 3 year old bitch from a smaller mould, pretty head with gentle expression, well put together all through with correct topline and sound movement. 3 Needham’s Snowgate Gold Edition at Merryhaze. O 1 Proudler’s Kimpapa Kocka Kala; Merry 3 year old chocolate roan bitch pretty head with correct ear set, good length of neck into well made body. Sound and happy show girl on the move which won her this class. 2 Sewell’s Wintonia Hidden Gem at Quattrozampe; 5 yr old Blue Roan bitch appealing head with bright eyes and well set ears. Correctly constructed and beautifully presented not as happy on the move as the winner. 3 Winder’s Crowmere Oh Melissa for Kevullawin.

FIELD SPANIEL-O The boys in this class were suffering badly due to the presence of a bitch in season in the hall. 1 & BOB, Moore’s Elgert China Girl for Gadhelic; 6 year old liver typey bitch with noble expression and correct eye shape, strong neck into soundly put together body. She was sympathetically handled to produce sound and honest movement. 2 Shipton’s Broomeece Firecracker over Mishules; 2 year old black dog with masculine head and good length of neck. Pleasing angles fore and aft and well presented. 3 Elliott’s Elgert Break Every Rule at Portsoy.

POINTER – P 1 & BP. Anthony’s Jilony Luther; Very coordinated 7 month old dog with pleasing head and kind eye. Good length of neck and nicely put together with tight feet and quality bone. A sound mover for one so young. 2 Sillence’s Davigdor Flanders Field. 6 month old dog of different type to the winner but with much to like. Masculine head and correct eye colour and soundly constructed all through he’s still raw and just needs time. PG 1 Anthony’s J Beautiful Dream. A Beautifully made black and white bitch with pretty head and good reach of neck. Tight feet and quality bone she was giving her handler a hard time today. O 1 & BOB, Layton’s Joneva Born To Thrill. Handsome3 year old dog. Masculine head with kindly expression, good length of neck into well laid shoulders, correct depth of body and quality bone. Presenting a balanced picture he stormed round the ring on tight feet.

GOLDEN RETRIEVER – J 1 Paul’s Agnieszka Athena; A pretty mid gold bitch, soundly made and in beautiful condition I would prefer a size larger with more width but sympathetically and handled and sound moving. 2 Holland’s Honeylush Maguires Boy. A well grown cream dog in full coat it was the dog and handlers first show and they could both benefit from ring training. PG 1 & BOB, Baxter & Riley’s Bermary Captain Hastings; 2 Wyard’s Bermary Agatha Christie at Barndelle. Cream Litter brother and sister both have a lovely head with soft expressions and dark eyes, and correct pigmentation and are soundly made with good depth of body and short hocks. O Movement in this class was disappointing. 1 Baxter & Rilery’s Bermary Duke Of Wellington; A Handsome male in full coat, appealing head with correctly set ears and well put together but down on his pasterns today. 2 McCulloch’s Princess Cora of Zarkandar. An adequately put together & typical looking bitch, I would prefer stronger pigmentation and more positive movement.

LABRADOR RETRIEVER – J 1 & BOB, Potter’s Harrop Pick Pocket. 14 month old black dog with pleasing head, dark eye and kind expression. Well made with good depth of body, correct coat, quality bone and tight feet. An ever wagging tail completing the picture.

WEIMARANER – P 1 & BP, Pilatova’s Sabsky Svratka; 11 month old dog. Masculine head and good reach of neck into well laid shoulders with correct depth of body he presents a balanced picture standing and moved OK 2 Bennett & Slimak’s Ansona Sprinter. A well grown 9 month old eye catching dog puppy with much to like. Well muscled and handled I just preferred the proportions of 1. J 1 S Svratka. PG 1 & BOB, Hunter’s Braefell Dragonfly. Powerful dog of 26 mths with masculine head and good length of neck. Scores in fore chest and topline whilst demonstrating driving profile movement.

IMPORTED REGISTER GUNDOG – O 1 & BIR, Taylor’s Portuguese Pointer, Gr Ch/Port/Gib/Fr Ch Fabpoint Idalgo Fidalgo through Pointoak. Presents a correct outline with pleasing head and expression. Correct angles fore and aft with quality bone he was a sound a positive mover.

AVNSC GUNDOG – P 1 BP & BNSC, Trow’s GSP, Fayemm Treacle Tart with Winterwell; 11mth old beautiful liver bitch with textbook conformation. Correctly proportioned head with soft expression, quality bone and moving effortlessly on tight feet. 2 Dummett’s American Cocker, Almondsbury The Pop Kids; 9 months old Black and white bitch. She scores in head and construction with lovely movement really unlucky to meet 1 today. 3 Merritt’s GSP, Sperant Chocolate Cosmos. J 1 Hamlyn’s Lagotto Bransbubble High Neb; A handsome lad who’d recent had unpleasant experience at a show but correctly proportioned with good jacket and moving with plenty of drive he couldn’t be ignored. 2 Nixon’s GSP, Quintana Lunar Eclipse; Correctly constructed without exaggeration, with quality bone and moving soundly on tight feet. 3 Killick’s C/c Retriever, Overbone’s Double Or Stick. PG 1 Sewell’s NSDT, Clegane Inferno to Breakerswell; A well put together lad with pleasing head and sufficient reach of neck into an adequately angulated body. With good bone and tidy feet he moved OK. 2 Beresford’s Tuptonsett Paloma; A typical bitch in lovely muscular condition with pleasing head, good depth of body and quality bone. Sympathetically handled. O 1 Nixon’s GSP, Quintana Cloud Berry; Presents a balanced picture with appealing head, unexaggerated neck, good depth of body, sufficient bone and moving soundly. 2 Hamlyn’s Lagotto Bransbubble Roisin Dubh; He presents a balanced outline standing. A Sound moving happy showman of correct type with a well presented coat. 3 C Inferno to Breakerswell.

AV VETERAN – 1 Moore’s Elgert Sweet Little Lies at Gadhelic, Field Spaniel; A well constructed and typical liver girl in good coat and condition with feminine head and good reach of neck. Moving very soundly. 2 Proudler’s Kimpapa Krazee Kritter, Cocker Spaniel; This exhibitor must be congratulated for getting all her dogs to show their hearts out for the during the day. A well put together and typical bitch who excelled herself on the move. 3 B Duke Of Wellington.

GUNDOG GROUP – G1 Pointer; G2 GSP; G3 Field Spaniel; G4 Portuguese Pointer. PUPPY GROUP – PG1 GSP; PG2 Cocker Spaniel; PG3 Gordon Setter.
