London & South East Rottweiler Club

London & South East Rottweiler Club Open Show

25th September 2022

A long awaited appointment delayed by covid but when it finally arrived what a lovely day it was. The weather was kind, a lovely big outdoor ring, some super exhibits, and most important, atmosphere.
It was refreshing to hear each class applauded, no matter who won, exhibitors watching and chatting.
Thank you to the officers and committee for inviting me, a club show is always an honour to judge.
And finally, thank you to my stewards for keeping me in check and ensuring everything ran so smoothly.

Minor Puppy Dog(4,1a)

1st Cocks’Jaqary Blaze of Glory. Just 6mths and loved his outline & type. Head of good breadth and correct proportions with dark, almond shaped eyes and correct ears. Lovely forequarters with well laid shoulders and deep well-sprung ribs. Straight well boned front. Level topline over a short loin to a well made rear. Good width of ham and short rear pasterns and neat feet all round. Moved true with drive and power.
Best Puppy Dog then Best Puppy in Show.

2nd Rivett’s Jezeve Castaway Taf. Another baby at 6mths, longer cast that 1 but another nice puppy. Correct through head with dark, almond shaped eyes. Good front assembly with well laid shoulders, just not the forechest and spring of rib of the winner. Level topline to a well set tail and ok rear angles. Lovely bone and feet. Moved with drive.

3rd Dickens’ Jaqary Rappers Delight

Junior Dog (3,0a)

These three made this class tricky, with all of them doing their best to throw it away.

1st Osborne’s Icklesborne Rolex. This 12mth boy won through on the shape and type. Loved his outline, correct through head with dark eyes of correct shape. well laid shoulders but would like a little more forechest. Deep well-sprung ribs and a level topline, rear developing. Playing about on the move but showed enough to win through.

2nd Bryne’s Maraj Moon. 17mth, another of good shape and size. Masculine through head with correct eyes. Well laid shoulders and again I would like more forechest, deep well-sprung ribs. Level topline through to a well made rear. As mentioned, had the chance to win but decided to throw it away on the move but showed some drive.

3rd Ward & Hull’s Warrimead Floki

Two very nice boys
1st Wheaton’s Ausrie's The Real Thing for Acinonyx JW. 3yrs and maturing well. Liked his size and shape, lovely head of good proportions and dark expressive eyes. Good length of neck into well laid shoulders but would benefit from more forechest. Deep well-sprung ribs and a level topline through to well set and correctly carried tail. Well muscled rear with good angles. Super mover, clean with reach and drive.
Reserve Best Dog.

2nd Walker’s Warrimead Hot Shot. Another 3yr old of good shape and size. Good head shape with dark eyes that are perhaps a little round and well set ears. Strong neck to well made forequarters, deep well-sprung ribs and a level topline through to a well set and well carried tail. Shorter coupled that 1. Moved with power and drive but not as tidy coming towards as the winner.

A tough straight in upper arm and I would like more forechest. Deep well-sprung ribs and a good level topline through to a well set tail, carried correctly. Well bent stifle, good bone and feet. Well muscled rear used to effect on the move which was true and powerful.

Post Graduate Bitch (1,0a)

1st Richards’ Hanbar Enigma at Ruiz. This 2yr old is one that can very easily go unnoticed yet she has so many positive attributes. Starting with her lovely shape and size, a solid B. Feminine head of good breadth and proportions with dark eyes of correct shape that look at you enquiringly. Muscular neck of good length into well laid shoulders. Enough return of upper arm and forechest. Good bone and neat feet. Her deep well-sprung ribs sit under a level topline to a well set tail. Deep well-sprung ribs. Does tend to lose her topline on the stand at times. Correct tailset and carriage, well angled muscular rear, moved with power and drive.

Veteran Bitch (1,0a)

1st Ward’s Ch Warrimead Kustom Made. My notes start “Oh my!!” Loved her size and shape, exudes power. Feminine head but of good breadth and proportions, well set, ears held close, dark eyes and a somewhat ‘naughty’ expression. Loved her neck and shoulders, good return of upper arm, super forechest, good amount of bone and neat feet. Her deep well-sprung ribs sit under her level topline and in front of a deep muscular loin. A super well muscled and well angled rear with correct tailset and carriage completed the picture on the stand. Then, what a mover, true from all angles, easy powerful gait with reach and drive. Super bitch who could not be denied top honours today.
