Darwen Canine Society 17th December 2022.
I would like to thank the officers and committee for the invitation to judge at their premier open show. The weather did play its part with the absentee rate. Thank you to the exhibitors for braving the elements, and to my stewards Barbara and Anne and for the lady (whose name I never caught, who stewarded for Rottweilers).
Rottweiler
Junior (2,1a)
1st Cookson’s Darkarmar Super Trouper. 13-month-old masculine headed of a powerful constitution, shown in super condition and well-muscled. He was balanced in outline with good angulation. Would prefer him to stand truer in front and have a more settled front action. Strong in hock and so stood correctly behind. Good depth of brisket. Moved well in profile holding a firm topline and moves with power behind. Well-presented and handled. BOB.
Post Graduate (3,1a)
1st Child’s Tanevan Astrum 2 year old bitch, with feminine head of good proportions albeit a little plain in expression. Well balanced in outline with reasonable angulations. Position of forefeet not to her advantage. Good depth of chest and well ribbed back Firm topline both stacked and on the move. Moved well. RBOB
2nd Brereton’s Kiki Vom Anagastum NAF (Imp Mne). 19 month old bitch. Feminine with good expression with an excellent bite. Stood well, holding straight topline which she continued to hold on the move. Stood well behind with strong hock. A little more chest development would be to her advantage. Moved well and was well presented.

1st Park’s Kjalarnes Go the Distance Two and a half year old female. Feminine, well balanced in outline and stood correctly both fore and aft. Angulations good, with good depth of chest. Her top line when stacked was not to her advantage but on the move this was not as noticeable. Moved well in profile and well in front. Well-presented and handled. BOB
2ndIveson’s Onaway Dark Trumperter. Two and a half year old upstanding male. This boy is quite a character and kept his handler on her toes. Masculine head, good bite. Holds correct top line, stacked and on the move. Moved soundly, active without being cumbersome. Shown in excellent condition. Well-presented and handled. (BOB and Working Group 1).
2nd Williams Diablo Sivola. 2 year old male with a masculine head, a little more than fair wrinkled. Well boned with good depth to chest but needs a little more development. Angulations acceptable. Holds straight top line both stacked and on the move. Handler just needs to keep an eye on how he is stacked, particular focusing on his front, which when stood correctly would be to his advantage. Lovely temperament and shown in excellent condition.
Dobermann
Puppy (2,1a)
1st Balshaw’s Cockneyoka Over the Line. A very smart and promising 6 month old bitch. Feminine head of correct proportions. When stacked and on the move presented an elegant outline. Good round bone. Excellent angulations fore and aft. Correct length of neck. Good depth to chest, with well-developed forechest for her age. Stood well fore and aft. Moved soundly, and although I appreciate that a second handler was required, this was not to her advantage in the Puppy Group, if more settled it would have earned her a higher placing. Will follow with her career with interest. Best Puppy/Res BOB and Working Puppy Group 3.
Open (2,1a)

Presenting the correct square outline, with good angulations front and rear with good length of neck. Correct top line with deep ribs, well ribbed back. Moved soundly in all aspect, but the ring was not to his advantage and reduced his scope on the move. Shown in excellent condition. Well-presented and handled. BOB /Working Group 3.
