Mid Herts Gundog Club – Premier Open Show

I would like to thank the show committee for my judging appointment, and my fantastic stewards on the day Vicky and Gloria who kept us all ticking along very efficiently. Additionally, I’d like to thank all of the exhibitors who entered under me, and showed up on a cold Sunday morning, accepting my placings with good spirit, and making for a lovely atmosphere throughout the day.

Hungarian Vizsla

Puppy D/B, 3

1st Curzon-Price’s Parcroft Destiny, 6 month old bitch. This very typey youngster has a skull slightly longer that muzzle, with median line down her forehead to moderate stop. She has a typical oval eye of correct colour, with tightly fitting eyelids. Scissor bite with closely fitting lips, muscular neck, well laid back shoulders. Moderately deep chest, level to tight fitting elbows with ribs well sprung. Short level back with well muscled croup and hind quarters. Hocks well let down over tight cat like feet. Moved with purpose for one so young around the ring. BP

2nd Senior’s Oakswarren Feel The Heat, 6 month old dog. This young man has a head of correct proportions with wide nostrils, scissor bite, moderate stop and median line to forehead. A moderate muscular neck, well laid back shoulder and correct fore chest. This young lad is a little longer in leg than 1, which will no doubt change as he matures. Well ribbed back to short loin with well muscled croup. Hocks well let down. Wasn’t quite as together as 1 on the move, again will no doubt change as he matures.

Junior D/B, 4 (1 Abs)

1st Porter-Manning & Porter’s Wallaroo Duncan Disorderly, 1yr old dog. He has a masculine head with a moderately wide skull to moderate stop with nice wide nostrils over a scissor bite covered by closely fitting lips. A moderate muscular neck, laid back shoulder with deep chest almost level with close fitting elbows. Level short back with slight tuck. Muscular croup, with good width across second thigh, pleasing sweep of stifle to strong well let down hocks. Moved with drive.

2nd Senior’s Nemzet Kincse IPA (Imp Hun) NAF TAF, 10 month old dog. This young man had definitely had his Weetabix! Head of good proportions with moderate stop, correct scissor bite, correct eye shape and colour. This lad has a kind, soft expression, moderate length neck. At the moment the depth of his chest isn’t equal to chest to floor. No doubt this will change as this 10 month old matures. Ribs well sprung short loin with level top line. Once settled moved straight and true.

Post Graduate D/B, 3 (1 Abs)

1st Porter-Manning & Porter’s Roughshoot Quintessential Among Wallaroo JW, 1yr 11mnths bitch. A lovely outline, this girl has breed type in abundance. She has a kind oval eye, tapering muzzle and good wide nostrils. Well set ears and muscular neck to well laid back shoulders. Well sprung ribs, slight tuck p to well muscled hind quarters. Pleasing sweep of stifle to strong hocks. Moved with grace covering the ground well. RBOB

2nd Cracknell, Cracknell & Rutherford’s Kincsem For Your Eyes Only, 3yrs bitch. This girl has lovely wide nosterils, tapering jaw, kind eye and correct proportions to skull with well set ears. Strong neck to moderately deep chest. Didn’t quite have the length of upper arm as one. Level top line with well sprung rib. Slightly longer loin to strong hind quarters.

Open D/B, 3 (1 Abs)

1st Grigonyte & Macionis’s Nadorpuzstai Fuvola Luna, 2yrs 5mnths bitch. Another girl with breed type a plenty. Tapered muzzle with closely fitted lips and perfect scissor bite. Head of correct proportions with well set ears and oval eye. Strong muscular neck, prominent breastbone and deep chest with well sprung ribs and close fitting elbows. Level top line, ribbed well back, to strong hind quarters with good width across second thigh. Strong short hocks over well arched neat feet. Graceful precise movement, covered the ground well. BOB

2nd Wallington’s Multi CH Nicael Blue Diamond Among Ohanava, 6yr old bitch. A head of correct proportions with correct proportions, tapered muzzle, closely fitting lips over perfect scissor bite. Slightly longer in neck than 1, to well laid-back muscular shoulders. Close fitting elbows, oval boned fore legs slightly down on pasterns today. Well sprung ribs, lovely short coupling well-muscled hind quarters with excellent sweep of stifle over strong short hocks. Losing out to 1 on movement today, not sure the surface was to her liking.

Hungarian Wirehaired Vizsla

Puppy D/B, 1

1st Garstang’s Kisdon It’s A Cracker, 6 month’s dog. This young man has a lively expression, skull slightly rounded, kind eye, moderate stop with close fitting lips. His furnishings aren’t there yet, giving a square appearance, but he has plenty of time for those to develop! His well muscled neck, well laid shoulders and deep chest to close fitting elbows give a lovely outline. Both top line and under line are correct. Good spring of rib, short coupling and thighs well developed. His coat is already harsh and will no doubt develop further providing a thicker wire jacket. BP

Limit D/B, 1

1st Upton’s Stockgrove Pumpkin To Tragus, 4yr old bitch. Stood this girl is slightly longer than she is tall, with the most wonderful wire russet coat. She has an abundance of breed type with head of correct proportions, kind eye, scissor bite and well-set ears. Her furnishings give that characteristic square appearance. Strong neck to well laid shoulders, good length of upper arm, oval boned forelegs with strong short pasterns. Deep chest to closely fitting elbows, short coupled with level top line and strong hind quarters. Excellent sweep of stifle, good width across thigh, strong hocks on neat feet all around. Moved well only just missing out on BOB today. RBOB.

Open D/B, 1

1st Upton’s SH CH Tragus Honey Bee JW, 6 yr old bitch. What a pleasure to go over this girl. She oozes breed type, with the kindest of eye. Head of correct proportions with eye and nose colour harmonious with her russet wire coat. Furnishings giving a square appearance with well set ears to strong neck and a good fore chest. Strong well laid shoulders, oval boned strong forelegs with compact pasterns. Well sprung ribs to short coupling, sloping slightly from croup to tail set. Level top line. Strong hind quarters with lovely sweep of stifle and short hocks powered this girl around the ring. BOB. Was so pleased to hear that this girl went on to be awarded Best In Show 3.
