Coventry (Foleshill) Canine Association Open Show

Handling

I was so impressed with the calibre of handling in these classes. Some of the placings I had to really be critical in order to fully make them. Anyone who was down the line please do not be unhappy with your performance, all of you could handle one of my dogs any time you wanted to.

JUNIOR HANDLING ASSOCIATION

6-11 years (3)

What a lovely start to the day, all promising handlers for the future. All entrants did the triangle perfectly with the dog going towards the judge with tight corners. I was very impressed

1st Holly Dungar-Bullock, age 10 (Shih Tzu)

What a lovely smart handler. Very Competent and the only one of the class to move dog correctly at the end. Her footwork is so neat. Lifted her dog on and off the table with ease and showed the bite perfectly. A very polite young lady who is such a natural handler and who was at one with her dog. Very well done

2nd Abigail Twigg, age 10 (Kooikerhondje)

Just pipped to the post at the end. Another polite and smart young handler, who didn’t stop talking to dog. Presented the dog well, shadow work near perfect and showed teeth with ease.

3rd Robyn Barrell, age 11 (Labrador)

Sadly her dog wasn’t very cooperative today but Robyn didn’t let it phase her and she tried to gently coax him. Very nice footwork. Well done.

12-16 years (2)

1st Melissa Graham-Weall, age 16 (Dalmatian)

Polite and smart young lady, very gentle and sympathetic handler, showed teeth and shadowed well. Melissa did everything I asked of her and had very neat lines and tight corners. Dog is well trained, attentive and responded well to her. She would be welcome to handle my dogs any time

2nd Phoebe Johnson, age 13 (Shetland Sheepdog)

Phoebe sadly crossed a couple of times but other than that very good. Another with good footwork and moved her dog at the correct speed. Showed teeth perfectly. Talked to dog at all times, a lovely partnership

ADULT HANDLING ASSOCIATION

17-35 years (4, 2ab)

Really hard class, neither put a foot wrong and both very competent and natural handlers who should go far

1st Samantha Webster (Beagle)

Showing a gorgeous Beagle and Samantha’s shadow work was perfect. Very nicely shown and dog was so attentive to her. Very caring and sympathetic, was aware of where the judge was at all times – she kept one eye on the dog and one eye on the judge at all time. She was at one with her dog. So well done

2nd Danielle Graham-Weall (Shetland Sheepdog)

Such a well trained and attentive dog. She showed him so well and he obviously adores his handler. Very nice partnership, steady footwork and they both looked like they owned the ring.

46-60 years (11, 5ab)

1st Louise Griffin (Beagle)

Louise didn’t take her eyes off of either the judge or her dog which won her the class. Very nice handler, dressed so smartly and they create such a lovely picture. Dog obviously adores her and responded well to her. Louise’s shadow work was impressive and just didn’t put a foot wrong throughout the class

2nd Justin Graham-Weall (Dalmatian)

Another who kept his eye on the judge at all times. Dog was a bit distracted and made her handler work hard, but he responded well and wasn’t phased by it. Nice neat footwork with sharp corners.

3rd Shiobhan Lea (Border Collie)

Very close placing, moved dog so nicely on a loose lead. Nice neat footwork. Such a kind and gentle handler whose dog was so attentive to her. They both looked the perfect picture on the stand.

RES Jennifer Graham-Weall (Shetland Sheepdog)

A handler who was unlucky to meet the others on such fine form. Jennifer has such a rapport with her dog, who responded well to her instructions.

VHC Maxine Proudler (Cocker Spaniel)

Showed a cocker spaniel with great personality. I loved how Maxine constantly chatted to her dog. Completed the line up of five lovely handlers

61+ years

Both of these handlers were so impressive and could swap placings at any time. They were very competent and kind handlers, and their dogs responded so well to them.

1st Jacqueline Simpson (Australian Shepherd)

Jacqueline has such a lovely rapport with her dog. Very competent handler, showed bite well. Her shadow work was perfect and she kept an eye on the judge and dog at all times. Didn’t stop talking to her dog and on the stand they look the quite the picture. Very well done

2nd Chrissie Pearce (Cocker Spaniel)

This cocker made me smile, he was just delightful. Chrissie had lovely foot work with neat lines and tight corners. Her dog was so happy to be in the ring with her which is always a joy to see. They are such a lovely partnership and work well as a team. Very close placing.
