Welsh Springer Spaniels- Gundog Society of Wales 2025
My thanks to the exhibitors for their support in what was a quality entry, making for some difficult decisions.
It has been a number of years now since I have campaigned a Welsh Springer or been around the ringside to see the dogs exhibited today. Many were new to me which made for an interesting appointment.
Overall I found much to admire in the younger exhibits, which I feel bodes well for the future of the breed.

Another lovely young male. Slightly smaller than the winner throughout but pleasing in outline. Also possesses a lovely head and expression. Needs confidence to fully demonstrate his movement but I am sure that will come with experience.

When this young boy entered the ring he instantly took my eye. On closer examination I was not disappointed. He is balanced in outline. Excellent bone and feet. He has a most lovely head with dark eye and expression. Stylish, yet workmanlike. Well coupled, correct body proportions. It was when he moved that he really came alive. Such beautiful side gait. I am sure there is a lot more to come from this young boy. RCC.

Handsome young male of good type. Compact, though would benefit from more length of leg to improve overall balance. Good bone and feet. Lovely spring of rib for age. Tended to move slightly close behind today.

Champion Dog

A really quality dog, combining correct head properties with good length of neck, flowing into shoulders. He really does have a lovely outline which I have come to expect from a kennel that produces such consistency. He has ample bone and lovely tight feet. Presented well and handled to advantage. Initially unsettled but once he got going he showed balance and excellent side gait. It was a pleasure to award him the CC.

A boy who I have judged before and I still maintain the same view that he is deserving of his title. He has maintained his excellent, typical breed outline. A most handsome head with a lovely dark eye. He moved with purpose and appeared to still be enjoying his days out. What a lovely partnership he makes with his owner. A well deserved BVIB.
2nd – Yacoub’s Laithmoor’s Red Grenadine JW
Another quality older boy with a lovely compact outline. Handsome head with good dark eye. Good bone and feet. Lots to like but just not quite in the condition of the winner.

A most beautiful head with a dark eye of good shape. Ample bone and excellent feet. Lovely spring of rib and depth of chest. Her angles matched in front and behind.
