Breed: WORKING GROUP

Many thanks to the Secretary and her Committee for the invitation to judge both their Working Group and the Working Puppy Group at this lovely venue of Brockenhurst nestled in the New Forest. I shortlisted the following breeds: Alaskan Malamute, Boxer, Giant Schnauzer, Great Dane, Newfoundland, Portuguese Water Dog and Rottweiler, from this lovely shortlist I found my winners:

G1 Blake’s Ch. Sandbears Masterpiece - Newfoundland. Striking male of 5 years, eye-catching outline conveying strength and power, broad head with gentle expression, excellent neck and shoulders leading to a super front assembly, well sprung ribs and broad loin, strong well muscled rear that aided his easy ground covering movement, immaculately presented in excellent coat.

G2 Mair’s Ch. Sulez Striker at Glenauld JW - Boxer. Lovely example of this breed at only 22 months, certainly suited his name, male with a broad head and the darkest brown eyes giving that intelligent expression, strong neck leading into a well set shoulder, balanced with a square outline, excellent depth of chest and correct rib, he was presented beautifully in hard condition.

G3 Williams’ Proud of Being Ava Gardner at Evrussky (imp) - Russian Black Terrier. This 7 year old bitch was in amazing condition and certainly belied her veteran years, strongly built yet feminine throughout, ideal outline, broad skull with oval dark eyes, high set ears and powerful neck, excellent front assembly, she was balanced and free on the move covering the ground with ease.

G4 Ellis’ Ch. Philoma Wicked JW - Giant Schnauzer. Powerful yet feminine bitch of only 21 months, still believe with maturity she has her best to come but she couldn’t be ignored today, good length and breadth to her head with the darkest oval eyes and kind expression, long neck leading into a well set shoulder, she was balanced and free on the move and presented in immaculate coat.

In the Working Puppy Group I shortlisted the following breeds: Boxer, Bullmastiff, Dobermann, Newfoundland, Rottweiler and Siberian Husky. My winners were:

PG1 Dunhill-Hall’s Fantasa Strike While It’s Hot - Rottweiler. 7 months, lovely broad skull developing well, correct head proportions, strong neck and well set shoulder with good depth in her brisket, straight legs of strong bone, lovely proportions throughout, she moved out so confidently for such a baby, good luck with her.

PG2 Lindley’s Hyerdunscar Hot Gossip - Bullmastiff. Another lovely example at just 7 months, she was appealing in head and overall outline, she is developing beautifully on the right lines, square skull with dark eyes, well set ears, arched neck, short back with excellent angles front and rear, she moved with purpose and power, a promising future lies ahead.

PG3 Ingram/Lack’s Jojavik Assassin’s Code - Dobermann. Eye-catching male of 9 months, long clean cut head with almond shaped dark eyes, well set ears, good length of neck leading to a super front assembly, he was square in outline and was well muscled and fit, balanced on the move with an easy reach and powerful drive.

PG4 Brown/Hutchings’ Winuwuk Firecracker - Boxer. Appealing young bitch of 9 months, broad head with the most feminine expression and endearing dark eyes, powerful neck and shoulders with straight legs and compact feet, she was correct in outline and was balanced throughout, confident on the move with a free ground covering gait.
