Having been A2 approved by the Kennel Club since 2019, this appointment was a long time coming and I cannot express my gratitude enough to the Officers and Committee of Boston & DCS for giving me this opportunity. My grateful thanks to the exhibitors for entering under me and to my stewards Alex Hill and Gina Bowers for their expert running of the ring. I loved every single second and was absolutely thrilled to see my top winners winning or being placed in the Gundog Groups. They did me proud.

1ST 6405 - Chazbaz Super Trooper (Mrs S A Wright) I loved his head with its square muzzle and slightly rounded skull. He has an excellent front assembly, level topline and low set tail. Moved well with purpose.

2ND 6365 - Glowhill Hot Toddie (Mrs J E Mitchell) He has a very nice well chiselled head and presents a square outline. He needs to fill in front which he should do with maturity. Lovely tail action.

1ST 6311 - Wyncastle’s Saint Laurent avec Chamford (Imp Hun) (Miss R Clifford) Presents a square outline with level topline and there is plenty of dog in front. Big ribs and bum, short couplings. Lovely head with plenty of brain room and low set ears. Moved well with a great tail action.

2ND 6329 - Chavez Royal Acclaim (Mrs J E Gilmour) Finer in head than the winner but has a lovely eye and mild expression. Square in outline but could be tighter at elbow. Moved well.

3RD 6405 - Chazbaz Super Trooper (Mrs S A Wright)

1ST 6397 - Whinburn Walk The Moon to Wensum (Mrs B M Ward) Compact, squarely built with big ribs, short back and a curvy outline. Well off for bone and has thickly padded feet. Balanced head with good width to foreface, bright expression. Covers plenty of ground on the move and uses his tail well.

2ND 6303 - Balaambeck Oricorio Opal (Mrs H Beckwith) His head is pleasing but I preferred that of the winner. Well bodied with plenty of bone and substance, well padded feet. Moved well.

Yearling Dog

Entries: 6 Absentees: 2

1ST 6336 - Purdyspride Rave On JW (Mrs E & Mr M Gray) Lovely moving dog, covers plenty of ground and shows a clean pair of heels going away. Compact with plenty of dog in front, moderate neck with good crest. Balanced head with good width to muzzle.

2ND 6379 - Glantraeth Seren Libanus with Sunabil (Ms M T Roberts) A tad fuller in eye than the winner and deeper in flew but handsome nevertheless. Has good ribbing and nice flare over the hips. Lovely silky coat.

Novice Dog

Entries: 8 Absentees: 3

1ST 6326 - Plaiglen Haribo (Mrs C A Flynn) I really liked this one who was a bit reluctant to get his tail up to start. He is so square with big ribs, well muscled loin and a lovely bend of stifle. Excellent front with length and return of upper arm. Handsome well balanced head, low set ears. Smart mover and used his tail well in the end.

2ND 6373 - Merrysoul Everybody’s Talking at Bocablue (Miss J K Pop) He has a gorgeous head and expression, good ribbing and well developed quarters. Just didn’t have the front of the winner. Well presented.

3RD 6303 - Balaambeck Oricorio Opal (Mrs H Beckwith)

Graduate Dog

Entries: 7 Absentees: 0

1ST 6334 - Plaiglen Mojito (Ms F Glendinning) I loved everything about this dog. He is so square and sturdy with his silky orange roan coat put down to perfection. He has a very handsome and masculine head, gently rounded skull, low set ears, round dark eyes with lovely chiselling underneath, a defined stop and good width to his muzzle which has a square finish. His expression is so kind. Moderate length of neck which is gently arched, clean over shoulders, plenty of depth, big ribs, well muscled loin and nicely rounded quarters. In the class he moved with true Cocker action but in the challenge, where I thought he had a better topline than the eventual winner, he didn’t move with as much verve so had to settle for the RCC.

2ND 6315 - Delightful Hunter Legendary at Silverdust (Miss K Covington) Lovely type, I liked him for size and balance. Appealing head, square finish to muzzle, moderate neck, well laid shoulders, short back. Moved with reach and drive.

3RD 6398 - Plaiglen Follow That Bike to Scapafield (Mrs J F Wiggins)

Post Graduate Dog

Entries: 3 Absentees: 2

1ST 6408 - Canyonn Black Caviar JW (Miss D & Mrs S Young) Quality dog with a balanced head, dark eye, square outline, level topline with nice slope from end of loin to tail set, well bent stifles. Good front action but could have been better going away. Silky body coat but rather wavy on ears and feathering.

1ST 6402 - Wilmerella Highlander JW (Mr R & Mrs S L Williams) A cracking dog who is sturdy and well balanced with a flowing outline, prominent forechest, deep brisket and fabulous lay back of shoulder with length and return of upper. He has a masculine head with gently rounded skull, clear stop, dark eyes and melting expression. He moves so very well with a typical bustle. Close up for top honours.

2ND 6305 - Clavaire Marrakech Sky JW (Mr J & Mrs T Buck) I loved this one but he was not as positive in front action as the winner. His head is fabulous and I liked his size and overall shape. Deep brisket, big ribs and beautifully presented.

3RD 6339 - Lindridge Star Attraction JW Bel Jch (Mrs A P & Mrs J Hackett & Sheridan)

Open Dog

Entries: 7 Absentees: 3

1ST 6401 - Sh Ch Oktumi Major Player (Mr M K Wildman) He has outstanding type about him, is square, moderate and compact with an incredibly handsome head. His forehand is terrific, well boned and with plenty of dog in front he stands on firm and well padded feet. His muscular neck flows cleanly into well laid shoulders which lead into a firm topline; he has big ribs, short couplings and a big bum. His coat is so silky to the touch and not overdone with too much feathering. He holds his shape well on the move maintaining his square and unexaggerated outline with a level topline that never wavered, a merry tail action and showing a clean pair of heels as he went round the ring holding his head high and covering plenty of ground. It was my absolute pleasure to award this striking dog the CC.

2ND 6306 - Sh Ch Manchela Speechless at Cassoz JW (Ms Y Cassidy) Excellent type, well angled front and rear, short firm back, low set tail, lovely flare over his hips, good bend of stifle, well padded feet. A very worthy title holder with a well worked head and firm, well muscled body. Lovely mover carrying his tail well. Close up.

3RD 6351 - Sh Ch Oakbeach Dare to Dream Big with Alhambian (Imp Swe) (Mr M & Mrs K Keely)

Veteran Dog

Entries: 2 Absentees: 0

1ST 6369 - Sh Ch Cachel Prince Charming of Pearkim JW (Mrs G E Pearce-Gudger) What a fabulous dog he is and clearly very worthy of his title. He is quality through and through from his handsome head and soft expression, fabulous neck and shoulders, compact and sturdy body, wonderful bend of stifle to his ever wagging tail; it never stopped. His coat is so silky and flat with the right amount of feathering. Someone needs to tell this 10 year old orange dog that he is a veteran; his gait is worthy of dogs half his age and his presentation and condition are top class. Close up for top honours. BV. I loved him even more when I watched him win the Veteran Group.

2ND 6366 - Snowgate Gold Edition at Merryhaze (Mr R E Needham) Compact, short back and couplings, balanced head, just a bit untidy.

Special Beginners Dog

Entries: 8 Absentees: 2

1ST 6374 - Fengrange Defender Boy (Mrs H Randall) Handsome head, moderate neck with nice arch, clean over neck and shoulders, well off for bone, cat like feet. Moved well with a great tail action.

2ND 6321 - Snowgate Shine On JW (Miss C Dolan) Deeper in flew and not as much stop as the winner, but presents a square outline with big ribs and wide quarters. Not as positive behind as I’d like.

3RD 6309 - Harbethol Look Magical Tyme JW (Mr A E G, Misses L D & S J Clarke)

Good Citizen Dog Scheme Dog

Entries: 2 Absentees: 0

1ST 6307 - Harbethol Look Thats Magic for Kevuliawin (Mr K D & Mrs J M Winder) Compact with a gently rounded outline. Pleasing head and mild expression. Moved very well.

2ND 6382 - Carmelfair Corocenzo at Oxfordogs (Mrs S Saunders) A tad short in foreface and lacking some stop at present but he is well balanced throughout with a good forehand and ribbing and wide quarters. Moved well.

2ND 6391 - Frieljoanipa Paint It Black (Mrs P Taylor-Kistner) Slightly heavier in head but still very pretty with a mild expression. Well made front and wide quarters. Lost out on tail carriage but moved with drive.

1ST 6359 - Manchela Sister Sledge (Mr M J & Mr M F Masters & Dott) Square! Square! Square! She is so very well made with balanced angles, a firm and compact body, short level back, well sprung ribs, strong loin, wide quarters, short hocks and firm cat like feet. Her head is so pretty with exquisite chiselling, a loyal expression and depth of and square finish to muzzle. Presented to perfection this truly merry Cocker with her typical bustling movement and ever wagging tail is a star in the making. It was my absolute pleasure to award her the RCC and BPIB. She showed her little socks off to take Puppy Group 3.

2ND 6361 - Grandtully Biddy Ford (Messrs B J & S Mccabe-Bell) She clinched this place with her positive and fluid movement holding her shape and topline all the while. Plenty of depth and heart and lung room, well bent stifles and such a pretty head.

1ST 6393 - Claramand Black Fancy (Mrs E Thomas) Her head is quite lovely, plenty of brain room, clear stop, square muzzle and such a soft expression. She is of excellent type, square and curvy outline, plenty of bone and substance, moderate all through. Moves beautifully with an open side gait.

2ND 6409 - Canyonn Classic Vision JW (Miss D & Mrs S Young) I preferred the head of the winner but she is another of excellent type, clean over neck and shoulders, deep brisket, big ribs and correct tail set. Plenty of reach and drive on the move.

3RD 6343 - Laurellakes Heaven Sent with Tilumi (Mrs S Hayes)

Post Graduate Bitch

1ST 6403 - Wilmerella Memphis Belle JW (Mr R & Mrs S L Williams) Square, sturdy and compact with big ribs and well developed quarters. I loved her rounded rear and short hocks. Pretty head, muscular neck, well laid shoulders, taut body, short loin, and well muscled quarters. Well developed skull, clear stop and full expressive eyes. Silky coat with just the right amount of feathering. Very precise on the move with a lashing tail.

2ND 6355 - Yokotai Queen of Chaos JW (Dr R Kotanen) She has a balance head but I preferred the eye of the winner. Very well made, square and curvy. Went well.

3RD 6319 - Mabelhope Melrose Miss of Peacevale (Mrs I Davies)

Limit Bitch

Entries: 11 Absentees: 3

1ST 6364 - Glowhill Chiquitita (Mrs J E Mitchell) Moderate without any exaggeration and looks every part the sturdy and sporting spaniel that she is. She is a terrific size and presents a classic Cocker shape. She has a beautiful head and is so well constructed. There is nothing flashy about her; just a pure honest Cocker who moves in a typical Cockery fashion.

2ND 6377 - Rozamie Black Pearl Jessremjul ShCEx (J & S Remington) Another beautifully unexaggerated bitch, sound all through and well constructed, just a bit heavier and could have carried her tail better.

3RD 6324 - Heluin Blue Jay (Imp Rus) (Mrs J & Mrs K & Mrs M Fairbairn & Nuttall & Madigan)

Open Bitch

Entries: 2 Absentees: 0

1ST 6394 - Sh Ch Zheridons Blanche (Mr D C & Mr M D Todd & Rahman) This combination of quiet handling and a bitch who clearly adores her owner is wonderful to see; her expression shows such devotion. She is absolute quality, truly Cockery and epitomises the breed. On the stack she presents a square and softly rounded outline and is so well balanced, with a moderate length of neck, well laid shoulders and excellent length and return of upper arm which places her legs well under her body giving her a well developed forechest. Her body is strong and compact with well sprung ribs and a deep brisket. She carries a level topline, is strong in loin which has good width to it, has an excellent finish to her croup and a terrific tail set. Her hind quarters are well muscled and wide with a lovely flare over her hips, stifles are well bent and her feet are firm and thickly padded. She has the most beautiful head and an expression to die for. She is presented in immaculate condition with a flat, silky coat and just the right amount of feathering. There is nothing exaggerated about her and she displays a wonderful temperament which is clear to see as she bustles round the ring with such reach and drive and great exuberance. I was honoured to judge her and delighted to award her the CC and BOB. She thrilled me even more by taking Gundog Group 2.

2ND 6367 - Oktumi Painted in Diamonds for Jernito (Mrs J Nolan) Very feminine in outlook and presents a true Cocker shape. Beautiful head and sound and merry mover; just unlucky to come up against a bitch on top form.

Veteran Bitch

Entries: 3 Absentees: 1

1ST 6323 - Misperros Sophia Loren (Mrs J & Mrs M Fairbairn & Madigan) I liked her for size and shape and her taut body and pretty head. She has a melting yet bright expression, balanced head planes, low set ears and moderate length of neck. Well angulated both ends and used her wide quarters well on the move to cover plenty of ground.

2ND 6344 - Olibond Sunshine Girl at Princehill (Mrs H Hill) She lost her topline on the stack which detracted from her qualities. But what a super temperament she has demonstrated by her ever wagging tail.

Special Beginners Bitch

She topped off her day nicely by winning the Special Beginners Group.
