THE LADIES KENNEL ASSOCIATION
TIBETAN SPANIEL
A real treat to be given the opportunity to judge the last show of the year & I was thrilled with a my fabulous entry which was second top in the group behind Dalmatians especially as this was under two years since I had a fabulous entry at The Tibetan Spaniel Association. As a result several dogs that had done well under me there understandably came again, now as most of you know me by now all dogs are judged with a clean slate & placings reflect time in motion as I continue to take notes on each individual performance to clearly prove to all that all dogs are judged on the day. The lovely blue carpet really showed our breed up to a great advantage & the dogs certainly enjoyed moving on it. A real jolly festive atmosphere & so lovely to hear the ringside applause which was appreciated by everyone. My two wonderful stewards did a fabulous job keeping us moving, the benefit of over sleeping is that I live in Stafford & just about made the 9am start!. When you live & breath Tibbies everyday of your life you realise there is nothing they do that can surprise you. For nearly 30 years now I have learned to appreciate our beautiful breed & their individual characters. When it comes to judging it can be challenging & indeed thought provoking & I try really hard to be consistent to show what appeals to me, here my BOB winner is Sired by the dog I gave BOB too last time which thrilled me to bits. A real perk of judging your own breed too is having the opportunity to go over the dogs & appreciate what they offer & potentially look at how our own kennel would benefit from the lines behind these. So many times I have seen judges not really appreciating or understanding Tibetan Spaniels in a breed specific way which is disappointing, we all love our chosen breeds for a reason & when you pay for an opinion you really expect it to come from a judge who at the very least could show some interest in what is being exhibited under them. Here I certainly had quality in both sex’s, all immaculately presented too. Like many of you I really love to see the true Oriental expression with real width & depth to chin, to me this is more important than teeth in straight lines. My BCC winner’s head was totally captivating & she really gave me the impression of sitting guarding in Tibet, not old fashioned but true to the history of our breed & our breed standard, just beautiful. All’s we can hope for now is that The IHA doesn’t have an impact on our breed especially as this entry clearly proved to me that you couldn’t meet a happier & healthier breed & my health report back to The RKC reflected this. Thank you for once again giving me the wonderful chance of appreciating your dogs, as always a delight & most humbling experience

1st: 5794 RICE, Mrs J Ricox I'll Love You As You Are JW, I was extremely taken with this 19 month young lady, she just reminded me so much of girls we have had over the years. This is an example of appreciating the full package & if I’m honest the more she went, the more I was convinced that she just had to win this mixed class which is just what she did with something to spare. Her head & expression is femininity personified, dark points throughout, darkest kindest eyes, enough muzzle, prominent chin with plenty of width & depth to it, slight dome to skull with well placed ears with the desired lift, strong moderate neck, good shoulders on first class legs & feet, ribbing is well sprung & ideal body weight too for her frame. Hieght to length ration is correct for her, she is in proportion. Firm backline, tail correctly set & carried at all times, moderate angulation in her quarters on the strongest & neatest hocks. She is ultra sound going away & sound enough coming towards me, projects herself well in profile using her neck to great advantage, great coat & presentation, no doubt in my mind she will produce something special
2nd: 5784 MORTON, Mrs L M Parloueve Promise Me, 18 month with obviously more length of leg (not a bad thing) & all in proportion for her height to length ratio’s. Lovely head & expression, correct muzzle length, plenty of width & depth to chin here, black points throughout, mobile neck of moderate length, well placed shoulders , enough bow in front & width throughout. Ribbing is well sprung & correctly covered, firm back with correctly set tail which she carried well at all times. Her quarters are moderately angulated & so well muscled, no sign of weakness in her hocks that are parallel at all times & this definatly reflected in her ultra sound action going away from me although not as precise here coming towards me as 1. The little extra length of leg allowed her to cover the ground briskly with very little effort & in great style too. You can tell the dogs that are exercised daily & her muscles & condition certainly reflect on this, great coat & presentation too!

1st: 5801 SIMPER, Miss H J & SCOATES, Miss ELISABETH & SCOAT Clydum Country Lass, headed such a lovely class of beautiful ladies, several of them had previously done well under me as youngsters at The TSA. This 3 yr old was bang on form today, at last showing some maturity in body & coat. Really lovely head & expression, correct slight dome to her skull, ears correctly set with the desired lift, darkest of oval shaped eyes, enough length to muzzle, correct bite with good width & depth to her chin, alert & on her toes all the time, moderate neck which she uses to great advantage at all times, well laid shoulders & tight elbows, enough bone with correct slight defined bow in front. Her ribbing has finally sprung & is well covered, good firm backline, tail is correctly set, plumed & carried at all times, angulation is moderate with hocks that are strong & parallel. Today she was ultra sound coming & going & in profile with her natural head carriage her gait was quick & easy with an outline that never faltered. In great coat & hard condition, I have never seen her look so good & without doubt she ran the eventual winners very close, a real treat to see
2nd: 5785 MCDONALD, Ms A & O'BRIEN, Ms Elizabeth Balgay Gold Digga, a real close second here, another who ticked all the right boxes for me. Also in full bloom & rock hard condition, it’s always a joy to judge the really good ones!. 2 yr d/sable with the most appealing head & expression, beautiful dark oval shaped eyes, fab mouth with good width & depth to her chin, no denying her sex as look at it from any angle & it just oozes femininity, neck is moderate in length & mobile, well laid shoulders, tightest of elbows on very good legs with a slight bow. Ribbing is well sprung, loins are short & well filled, firm in backline with her tail being correctly set & carried with the desired amount of plumage. Another with moderation to her angulation & rock hard muscles. Ultra sound coming towards me here but not as precise as 1 today going away which may have been due to her eagerness to please, in profile her batteries are fully charged & she gives you the impression that she is on a mission but with her gait remaining quick, easy & typical. Another who impressed me greatly & have no doubt will go onto brighter things

1st: 5799 SIMPER, Miss H J & SCOATES, Miss ELISABETH & SCOAT Clydum Rhadiance Of Rhedd, this was another lovely class of top quality beautiful bitches & the first two gave me a real headache to sort out. This girl totally fills in my interpretation of the breed standard & what I think a true Tibbie would look like whilst doing their job at home in Tibet. She is not old fashioned but true to type. This 6 year red has the nearest I have ever seen to a true ‘Oriental’ expression & outlook. Ultra feminine with the darkest oval shaped eyes that look right through you, correct length of muzzle, correct mouth with a well defined chin with the correct width & depth to it. Her ears are correctly set on her slightly domed skull with the desired lift & never flying them. Moderate length of neck leading to first class front construction, well laid shoulders on great legs with the desired bow & correct feet & feathering. Well covered body on correctly sprung ribbing, perfect height to length ratio’s, firm backline, tail is correctly set & carried at all times. Moderate in quarters that are strong with no sign of weakness. Ultra sound coming & going, in profile her carriage & outline give you the impression that she was born to do her job, covering the ground with not only the correct gait but with an air of regality which can not be ignored. For all the above reasons she became my very worthy BCC winner & will continue to appeal under those who truly appreciate & understand our breed
2nd: 5791 PROUVE, Mr L & MORAN, Mr A Sommerlyst's Vajra Vanita (imp Dk), just wow, this young lady gave me goose bumps as I was going over her, your hands just flow continuously with everything fitting together like a finished jigsaw puzzle. This 2 yr Black is quite exquisite & for many would need to be handled to fully appreciate her. If I’m honest one that has never appealed from the ringside & having many blacks over the years I should have learned my lesson, you need to go over them to fully appreciate their virtues, once again I eat my words!. Stunning head & expression her eye shape just blends in & adds to the intrigue she has, correct length of muzzle, great width & depth to chin with a perfect bite. Although correctly moderate in length her neck is fully flexible & I’m sure she misses nothing, well laid shoulders on good legs & feet, ribbing is well sprung, rock solid backline, tail is correctly set & well plumed, moderate in angulation behind on the strongest of hocks that are neat, parallel & never show any sign of weakness. Ultra sound going away & extremely sound coming towards me but at time can do silly things just because something else has caught her attention!. Her silhouette in profile is unique with her fully charged batteries taking her brisk, quick & easy gait to another level. The winner is four years her senior & this is where it showed today being more composed & easy going. Her coat is a true credit to her owners, just like looking in a mirror you could see your reflection, my surprise of the day, a pure delight & will continue to be appreciated by those who know & by those who will admit that they where wrong!. A pleasure to award her a very worthy RBCC

1st: 5752 COOPER, Miss C L Ch Dedicated To Sensational White Susu (Imp NLD), If only I could copy & paste as I feel we have been on quite a journey together!. As a youngster she won her 3rd CC from me & now at the age of 12 she continues to look as stunning as she ever did in her youth. Full dentition, pearly white teeth all in a straight line clearly showing that wonderful width & depth to chin, her dark oval shaped eyes give you that feminine expression that you never forget, moderate in all departments & still in rock hard condition, she oozes quality & is still in rock hard condition to trouble the best. However today she insisted in going in her own directions & in typical Tibbie stubbornness was showing to the gallery & not the judge!. She will always pull on my heart strings, an all time favourite that really could have shaken things up had she decided to cooperate!
2nd: 5811 THOMSON, Ms E J Tibbiestars Moulin Rouge, 10 yr young lovely rich red, feminine head & expression, dark points throughout, ears correctly set with tremendous furnishings, moderate neck, well placed shoulders, super legs & feet with the desired slight bow, ribbing is well sprung & backline still firm, tail correctly set & plumed beautifully, clearly moderate in angulation on good strong hocks. The icing on the cake in going over a good dog is feeling the clear muscle tone, a Tibbie should never be soft & spongy & all exhibits from this kennel are always hard in condition, a real credit to hard work making our breed certainly Fit For Function!
