Windsor Championship Show 29th June 2025

It was both an honour and a personal delight to be invited to judge Mastiffs at the Windsor Championship Show, and I thank the committee for inviting me, this venue has long held a special place in my heart, making it my favourite in the show calendar year.

To the exhibitors, thank you for your dedication and passion for our breed, and for your entries today, the quality of the dogs was pleasing, it was a pleasure to go over each one of them, and they all coped splendidly in one of the hottest days of the year so far. Last but not least, thank you to my two stewards for the smooth running of the ring.

Puppy Dog (4 Entry) Abs: 1

1st Mrs L Graham – Savarow Adonis at Odextin – 7 month old promising youngster with good pigmentation and dark eye. Pleasing head developing well. Large bone and good overall substance for his age. Good length of body moving to nice hind anglulation. Moved soundly and with purpose for a youngster, should mature nicely, one to watch. Pleased to award BP

2nd Mr C Hazelwood – Craiglstone Lord Pu Nam – 9 month old dark brindle youngster with a pleasing head, correct tight eye and appealing expression. Slightly less bone than 1st but well balanced with tight feet and clean lines, good rear angulation. Moved well around the ring.

Limit Dog – (4 Entries) Abs: 1

1st Mr G Zadeh – Suncamo Kayden with Faynad - Fawn dog of very good quality, super type with excellent pigmentation and nothing overdone. Well off for bone with good width of chest and depth of body, slightly longer length of body would have been nice. Balanced throughout with a level topline maintained on the move. Pleasing head with correct proportions and well set ears. Moved with drive and purpose, best movement of the day for me. – Pleased to award DCC & BOB

2nd Mr & Mrs Whelan – Arleith After Darkness Infinite Beauty (Imp Pol) - Large apricot brindle exhibiting substantial bone on nice tight feet. Displays a powerful head with dark clear deep set eyes and a well defined stop. Good length of body with a broad deep chest providing excellent substance and balance. Well angulated in the rear, moved soundly with drive, maintaining a strong level topline throughout. Pleased to award RDCC

Open Dog – (5 Entry) Abs: 2

1st Mr & Mrs Burgoine & Miss D Nicolas – Ch Hallberd Finbar – A dark brindle of good quality, with a clean broad head, tight dark eye and correct ear set, super dark pigmentation, deep let down chest, good length of body and rear angulations, nice tight feet, moved with ease keeping a level topline.

2nd Mrs L Graham – Cybrus Zaphyr At Odextin – Tall fawn with good bone and strong rear angulation standing on tight well arched feet. A broad head with dark pigmentation and pleasing expression showing a nice wrinkle when alert. Correct stop and ear placement enhance overall balance. Maintained a level topline on the move with good reach, however, inconsistent in gait today.

Veteran Dog – (1 Entry) Abs: 0

1st Mr & Mrs Andrews – Ch Collatreal To The Future Bailey At Cybrus (IMP) – A lovely fawn male of excellent type, with substantial bone and a large well balanced frame. Strong head with sufficient wrinkle, exuding breed type and presence. Moved soundly and was sympathetically handled by his young handler. A fitting final appearance in the Veteran class, finishing on a high note with a well deserved Best Veteran

Special Beginners – (1 Entry) Abs: 0

1st Mrs E Straver – Angel Sunshine - Rising 17 month old fawn girl at her very first show. Unfortunately, nerves got the better of her on the day, although I was able to go over her. She is of good body and bone with attractive dark masking. Her eye is slightly light in colour but a good shape and not loose. Movement was somewhat interrupted nevertheless her handler managed to get her going.

Puppy Bitch (1 Entries) Abs: 0

1st Mr C Hazelwood – Craiglestone Miss Whimsy – 9 month old dark brindle, presents with a good head and a clear dark tight eye and good bite. Slightly light in bone, but with good rear angulation, standing on nice tight feet. Moved well around the ring, a pleasing youngster overall.

Junior Bitch – (3 Entries) W/D by Exhibitor 1

1st Mr P Barrett & Mrs D Barrett – Phoebe of Seven Oaks at Valdenton (imp due) – 16 month old fawn with good body length, width, and depth with pleasing pigmentation and feminine head, correct eye and bite, good bone, tight feet, and dark nails, good rear angulation. Moved around the ring with ease maintaining her topline throughout. – Please to award her RBCC

2nd Miss D Baxter – Nobleheart Icenis Fleur - 16 month old fawn with a clean head and good pigmentation. Nice eye and correct bite. Good length of body and nice rear angulation, slightly lighter in bone than first, a little uneasy today.

Post Graduate Bitch – (3 Entries) Abs: 2 W/D by Exhibitor 1

Limit Bitch – (4 Entries) Abs: 1 W/D by Exhibitor 1

1st Mr & Mrs Andrews – Cyberus Zaria - A good quality fawn, sturdy and well-boned, with a deep, broad body and pleasing rear angulation. Displays a good head with strong pigmentation. Eye could be tighter, but moved well around the ring for her young handler.

2nd Mrs S Burgoine & Miss D Nicolas – Suncamo Jocelyn – A nice pale fawn girl of good quality. Correct head with good pigmentation and stop. Well proportioned with good length and depth of body. Well boned with tight feet and a well angulated rear. Moved well away from me, but started to play her young handler up and was not the easiest to handle today.

Open Bitch – (Entries 5) Abs: 2 W/D by Exhibitor 1

1st Ch Sculpted By Nature At Elljayart - A large, substantial, quality apricot brindle bitch. Deep in body with good width of chest, nice tight feet, and well boned throughout. Pleasing head with a good dark eye and correct ear placement. Well balanced on the move, holding her topline. Pleased to award her BCC

2nd CH Askuwheteau Elka - A fawn bitch of excellent type, slightly smaller than first place but nevertheless a quality exhibit. Well off for bone with tight feet. Attractive head with good pigment and bite, pleasing length of body, and well-angled rear. Moved well around the ring.
