Working & Pastoral Breeds Association Of Scotland

Breed: Old English Sheepdog

I would like to thank the Working & Pastoral Breeds Association of Scotland for inviting me to judge OES at their 50th anniversary show, my stewards for keeping the ring moving and for the exhibitors for their entries. I did not find many light eyes however, some dogs were lacking in pigmentation which, in my opinion, spoils the expression. Muzzles also seem to be getting longer and I found a lot more rounded jaws than from when I previously judged.

JD (1,0) Winson’s Meisan Roly Poly Angelo – Compact and cobby youngster. He has a good head, correct bite, good muzzle, and fully pigmented dark eyes. Good length of neck, short in back, gentle rise, nice bend of stifle and low set hocks. He moved free and easy around the ring. His coat is coming through nicely with a good break. He will certainly be challenging for top honours when he matures.

PGD (1,0) Ferguson’s Mellowdee Soul Man with Lexalby - Smaller boy, good head with dark eyes, short back with nice rise. Pale coat of good texture. Moved okay.

LD (4,0) 1 – Fawcett’s Starjanda Mr Bright Sky – 2.5 year old dog. Good size head, correct bite, strong square muzzle, good stop and dark eyes. Enough neck, good lay back of shoulder, and deep brisket. Strong back end - he covered the ground with ease. Dark clear coat with good break. His owner has worked hard on this young man over the last year which is certainly starting to pay off. RDCC.  2 – Naismith’s Shaggybo Mineral Mist JW – Excellent size male with good properties. Straight front, excellent bone, good depth of brisket, tight elbows. His jacket is developing well. Another youngster who will challenge for top honours when he matures. 3 – Richardson’s Niedersachen’s Pride over Night Sensation at Storinblu (Imp Deu)

OD (5,2) 1 – Rutland & Porter’s CH Mellowdee Mask of Zorro JW – Fully mature 5-year old male, standing in a crisp, clear jacket. Fully pigmented dark eyes, large skull, strong foreface with the most intelligent of expressions. Straight front, deep chest and plenty of bone. Well laid-back shoulders and strong quarters. Moved out well around the ring with ease. DCC & BOB.   2 – Mills’ CH Kerjalee Evan Sent – A larger male with plenty of substance. Skull well developed, straight front, excellent depth of chest, correct top-line and big powerful rear quarters. Large back end. Moved well.  3 – Mann’s Blairdon The Water of Life for Flufebustles.

PB (1,0) 1 – Wilkinson’s Kalaju Dream A Little Dream – 6-month old feminine young lady who presented and moved around the ring like a pro! Good head properties, dark eyes with pigment developing. Everything where it should be for one so young. Will watch her progression with interest.

JB (1,0) – 1 - Wheeler’s Makaylen Savanna Pearl Very feminine and beautifully presented young lady. Pleasing head, good muzzle and correct bite, nice reach of neck, straight front, gentle rise to loin, good bend of stifle, neat hocks. She was a bit fidgety and unsettled on the move today. I liked this young lady and will watch how she matures.

PGB (4,0) – 1 – Castle’s Molyneux Just You Wait – This young lady was exactly what I was looking for in a bitch. She is feminine but strong with good bone. Good head with dark eyes and markings which give her the most intelligent expression. Good neck length leading into well laid-back shoulders, very good rise over loin. Good rear angulation and strong hocks which she used to her advantage on the move. BCC.   2 – Mills’ Kerjalee All About Me – Another quality young lady who was handled sympathetically by her young handler. Fabulous head with dark eyes. Cobby body with great front angulation, deep brisket and a lovely rise to a balanced rear. Moved with purpose. RBCC.  3 – Sweet & Doran’s Makaylen Cu Caol Ila JW

LB (4,2) – 1 – Adams’ Makaylen Majestic Lady -Well-bodied young lady with good muscle tone. Good head with dark eyes. Good length of neck, short in back, good angles front and rear and neat hocks. Moved steady. Coat of good colour and texture.  2 – Rutland & Porter’s Mellowdee Diamond Lil JW - Very nice type and outline. Nice head with dark eyes, correct bite, good length of neck. Good layback of shoulder, deep brisket, strong back, gentle rise. Good angles front and rear. Neat hocks. Her movement was hard to assess today as she was obviously in a hurry!

OB (4,3) – 1 – Storey’s Twojos Little Miss Diva – Good head properties, strong neck, straight front, tight elbows. Good rise to loin. Moved steady.
