Three Counties Agricultural Society

Breed: Japanese Akita Inu

Three Counties Championship Show 7th June 2025 Held at the Three Counties Showground Malvern

Japanese Akita Inu – this breed has come a long way since I last judged them in 2019. I’m so pleased the custodians of this have worked hard to strengthen and standardise the breed. I wish them every success for the future.

PD 1. Tsoyu Wakahiko Go Breezelyn (Mrs J & Mrs A Pike & Carter) – A very exciting youngster in super coat condition and well put together. His head was nicely developed with well-filled cheeks, his eyes were almond-shaped with lovely pigmentation. His ears were high set and thick and slightly hooded, his neck was of sufficient length and nicely crested, flowing into his muscular topline, he had a well-filled chest with correct urajiro markings, and a broad, muscular loin. His strong, muscular hind legs with width to thighs and moderate angulation gave him a clean, positive gait with smooth rhythmic action. PD BP

PGD 1. Ryuukita Burning Talisman at Kasaishiro (IKC) (Miss Z R Davis) – He was in super red coat today, although still appeared young and slightly tall. I would like a little more body on him; he has time to develop. On the move, his youth shows with time, and managed exercise, he will build the correct muscles. I look forward to watching him in the future.

OD 1. - Ir/nld Ch Seijitsu Amafumi Go Tsoyu (Miss S Bennett) – 5yr male, fully mature of excellent breed qualities. His head gave a round appearance with a broad skull and well-developed cheeks. His eyes were set well and almond in shape with full pigmentation. His triangular, thick ears followed the crest of his neck, though his shoulders and his firm topline finishing with his high-set tail that was thick with coat and tightly curled over his back, which balanced his outline. He moved out on round, nicely arched feet with an efficient rhythmic stride. BD BoB

2. Hokushou Go Daruma Kensha Wjw'24 (Imp Ita) (Mrs M & Ms K Thompson & Fowkes) – 22 months young red boy full of himself and an exciting future ahead. He was masculine but not coarse. He had a pleasing head and obliquely set almond eyes; his muzzle was strong with good depth, finished with a large nose. His chest was full with good depth and oval spring to his ribs. He had strong muscular hind legs with moderate angulation, which he used on the move it was a close decision, RBD 3. Meiho Kensha Akioshiro Go (Mr E & Mrs N Duffield)

PB 1. Kazan No Visis avec Nosferatu (Imp Fra) (Mrs T Thomas) – At almost 12 months, she makes a lovely shape, although immature. Her head was round with well-filled cheeks, her eyes were set obliquely and almond in shape. Her pigmentation was black and complete. Her neck was muscular and ample crest flowing through her shoulders, her forechest was suitably filled and straight well well-boned legs to acceptable feet. She moved soundly with drive from strong muscular hind legs. Her coat is in lovely condition with correct uraijro markings. Good luck for the future. PB

2. Tsoyu Wakamizu Go Anshee TAF (Ms S & Miss Lm O'neill Clark & Pearson) – this young lady was at the opposite end of the age scale and just learning her trade. She was a lovely red colour with requisite markings. Her head was coming together nicely, although her muzzle needed a little more width and depth, which time will resolve. Her neck was muscular with enough length, her topline was satisfactory, finishing with her tail that was high set but not quite as full. She had a good width to her thighs and time to develop appropriate muscle tone. She had lovely, round, tight feet.

3. Matsukita Satomi to Tsoyu (Mr M & Mrs S A Buckley)

PGB 1. Tsoyu Urakohime Go (Mrs M & Mr P Thompson & Chapman) – A lovely young girl and nicely developed. She had a good height to length giving her a balanced outline. She had a super feminine expression with well-set ears that were small and triangular, following the line of her neck, which was nicely developed. Her ribs were suitably sprung with good depth, and she had a muscular short loin. She moved out on the beautiful tight feet at a steady pace, giving a clean profile action.

2. Ryuukita Danu at Kasaishiro (IKC) (Miss Z R Davis) – Her white coat was in good condition and texture. She had a good head with well-shaped almond eyes, her muzzle was a little fuller, and a clean scissor bite. She did not have the fill to her chest, and her ribs were not as well sprung. She had a short, muscular loin and ample bone throughout. I would like a little higher tail set to balance her profile better.

OB 1. Meiho Kawai Hana Go (Mr E & Mrs N Duffield) 3yr – A red girl of good size. With a pleasing feminine head that was round with attractively developed cheeks well well-defined stop, her muzzle had enough depth with a good strong bite. Her chest was full and deep with a moderate spring to her ribs, a suitable length of muscular loin. Her neckline followed the line from her slightly hooded, thick ears; her neck had a clear crest to her muscular shoulders that had moderate layback. Her topline was muscular and strong, finished at the point of her high-set tail, which was thick and curled over her back to give a balanced picture of height to length. Her thighs had width and condition with moderate angulation. She drove around the ring with a good stride and attitude, covering the ground easily. BB

2. Tsoyu Tamashino Go (Mrs M & Mr P Thompson & Chapman) – This girl is full of quality and strong competition. She had a lovely, feminine profile with a rounded head and well-filled cheeks She well defined stop and carefully set almond eyes giving an aloof expression. She had a well filled chest with evident urajiro markings. She had ample bone to tight round feet. her ribs were reaching to her elbows with sufficient spring to her muscular loin. she was effortless, moving with an efficient gait. Today I preferred the character and ring presence of 1.

3. Seijitsu No Bishoujo (Miss S Bennett)

VB 1. Int/bel Ch Tsoyu Murasaki Go Seijitsu (Miss S Bennett) – Last time I judged this lovely girl (2019), I gave her best bitch she had no titles then but full of promise. I’m so pleased she has fulfilled my expectations. She holds the same qualities, full of femininity and lovely size, being slightly longer than tall, she is kept in super show condition, from the well-groomed, harsh red coat to her muscular show condition. I couldn’t believe this girl was a veteran; she is strong competition. Her head was round with well-set almond eyes, defined stop, and strong muzzle. Her chest was full and correct urajiro marking. Her ribs had sufficient spring to them, her loin was muscular and flexible. Her topline was muscular and firm, finished with her high-set thick tail. On the move, she was as clean and effortless as I remembered. RBB BV
