BLACKPOOL CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW JUNE 2025

NOVA SCOTIA DUCK TOLLING RETRIEVER

Thank you to Blackpool & DCS for inviting me to judge this lovely breed. I found the exhibitors a very sporting group who willingly assisted each other with handling when required. Appreciation is also extended to my steward, who managed the role singlehanded when it began to rain and the decision was made to remain outdoors.

Puppy Dog (1)

1st Hughes Abacot Heart of The Ocean

This promising and confident youngster presented a well-proportioned and compact outline when stacked. Although his head is still maturing, he displays an alert expression and appropriate eye shape. He possesses strong bone structure, a firm topline, and a robust loin, and I liked his coat colour. His movement demonstrated both reach and drive, and he has an excellent rapport with his handler.

Junior Dog (3)

1st Barker Coedhelyg Ho Tee Machine

A pleasing youngster, developing well in head, enough neck with well laid shoulders and correct topline. Good turn of stifle, could be stronger on hocks. Very jovial on the move and covered the ground well.

2nd Pascual-Watts & Clark Decoymans Piper Helios

Pleasing in head with ample width to skull and good eye colour. Neat straight front, but needs to drop in chest, firm topline and adequate rear angulation. Has a coat of rich colour and moved soundly.

3rd Hughes Abacot Heart of The Ocean

Limit Dog (5)

1st Rogers Eusanit Peaky Blinder

A well matured boy who has a most appealing clean cut head. Well laid shoulders with good upperarm return and stands on compact feet. He is very well constructed throughout with good depth to brisket and strong loin. Strong well-muscled rear quarters allowed him to move out with plenty of rear drive.

2nd Brand Coedhelyg Jingle All The Way

This dog displays an attractive head with balanced proportions sufficient stop and alert expression. He is so well put together featuring good shoulders and straight front. His body is compact and has correct rear angulation, not as positive on the move compared to my winner.

3rd Hughes Abacot Into The Unknown JW

Open Dog (5)

1st Westwood Ir Sh Ch Eusanit Proper Job JW

Has correct head proportions adequate stop and correct almond eye. He is so well balanced throughout and of ideal size with just the right amount of bone. He has a super front with strong pasterns and good depth to chest. Moved out with drive maintained his topline well and at his peak for coat and body condition. He closely challenged my best dog, Res BD

2nd Gough Cretshengan Kitchi Lake (ai)

This dog has a beautiful head, masculine but without coarseness with correct earset. Good neck length, best of shoulders and front. He is robust throughout body with a firm topline and good sweep to stifles. Moved with good reach and drive, he was competitive with my winner, and was proficiently handled to get the best out of him.

3rd Gibson Delphox Guiser

Veteran Dog (2)

1st Fielder Sh Ch Schindow Junior Cowboy with Cretshengan

A high-quality male with a clean cut masculine head and adequate stop. Well-boned, correct front and tight elbows, solid depth and well constructed throughout. Good width to hindquarters and stands on strong hocks. In such great condition for his eight years, moved out freely holding his topline well and shown in excellent coat of rich colour, a real showman who obviously loves the ring, a credit to his owners BD BOB and BV

2nd Copeland Camusmor Bring Me Sunshine to Menstonia

A well-conditioned eight-year-old with a nicely wedged head, properly set ears, and correct eye shape. Shoulders are less clean than my first place, but his neck length and body depth are good. He has sufficient sweep to stifle and moves well. Presented in good coat and condition.

Puppy Bitch (3)

1st Rogers Eusanit Redora

This was a very promising set of puppies and splitting hairs between them. My first place was feminine throughout, very pretty in head with correct eye shape. She is growing in proportion and has a pleasing well balanced outline when stacked with correct angulation. Won the class on her free and confident movement. Best Puppy

2nd Copeland & Knowles Eusanit Oh Eck It's Menstonia

This youngster has a very appealing head, enough stop and a gentle expression. Shoulders well laid, correct short back with good tuck up and substantial rear angulation. Litter sister to my winner but not as positive in front movement at the moment.

Junior Bitch (4)

1st Greenwood Coedhelyg Cloudberry

An attractive youngster with feminine head and kind eye, correct earset. Good bone and straight front legs with neat round feet. I liked her overall shape when stacked displaying good angles both fore and aft. She is very attentive to her handler and moved on a springy gait.

A five year old bitch at her peak off excellent type. She is well off for bone and substance yet of a pleasing size very sound and well-constructed throughout. I was drawn to her lovely head with kind eye of correct shape. She has good depth and firm loin with good rear angulation. Very well coated of good colour and came into her own on the move with a free stride and good reach. BB

2nd Wardrope Goldstars Struttin Her Daisy Dukes

Another neatly constructed bitch, clean cut in head of good proportions and alert expression. In profile she presents a well-balanced picture with well laid shoulders and a firm and level topline. She moved well on a good springy gait. Her coat lacked the condition and density of my winner today.

3rd How Sawbridge Lochbuie

Veteran Bitch (2)

1st Anstead - Sh Ch/int Sh Ch Riverwatcher Pikpaktuk JW VW Cw'16

Two different types in this class both with their own virtues. My first was a very well constructed bitch, well off for bone. Most attractive head with alert expression, good neck and well laid shoulders, solid pasterns. She has good depth with ribs well sprung and has super angulation both fore and aft. Moved out well with drive and held her topline well.

2nd Hughes Sh Ch Eusanit Gem Stone at Abacot

A very feminine and pretty headed bitch, finer made all through than my winner, but she is all in proportion and presents a very balanced outline. She has a sound straight front assembly with tight feet, adequate upperarm and a firm level topline. On the move she gives her all with a happy springy gait, presented in super coat and condition.
