Welsh Kennel Club Gundog Group

Congratulations to all concerned with the running of this excellent show. The transition to a new secretary seemed to be seamless and the friendly WKC had everything running smoothly.

I enjoyed judging this group in the large WKC, giving these gundogs the chance to show off their movement. I was delighted with the quality of the 9 I shortlisted, and there were several others who I liked v much who sadly didt come forward.

Shortlisted by unplaced were; Lagotto, BOND, Dr K & RAWLINSON, Mr David & RAWLINSON, Mrs Spencer Tracey, liked his proportions with good leg length. Level topline. Super head.

Pointer, SIDDLE, Mrs Annette & SIDDLE, Miss Amelia & MEDEIR Sh Ch Wilchrimane Frankly Darlin. So very feminine and full of quality. Precise on the move and plenty of curves.

Chesapeake Bay, 2326 MIDDLETON, Ms Joy & MAYHEW, Mrs C Sh Ch Int Ch Multi Arnac Bay Hebe Wgc Ew'22 Ww24 S. A veteran and in great form. She is so v well made and full of type.

English Springer, CORBETT, Mrs Ann Sh Ch Trimere Time Fly's. Quality and fem example of the breed. Today she decided to try hard, so well balanced.

Irish Water Spaniel, BRADLEY, Mrs Linda & BRADLEY, mr Paul Sh Ch Stanegate Stage Debut (ai) ShCEx. Numerically small but they usually send in a good one. She is a lovely example of the breed with excellent proportions.

This left me with the top 4, all of them full of virtues.

Winner on the day just had to be the Clumber, COX, Mr Lee - Sh Ch Vanitonia Soloist. This dog is so full of breed type. The right shape, the right size, in perfect weight, and hard muscle. On the move he is breathtaking, so sound but still typical. To get this breed so right and so sound isn’t easy – this Clumber is exceptional.

Second was the Cocker, RAHMAN, Mr Md & TODD, Mr DC - Sh Ch Zheridons Blanche. Another great mover and her tail never stops moving. She is so very well made, with a level topline and so very well presented.

3rd the Gordon Setter, NEWTON, Mr James & CORNUM, Mrs Rhonda & TIMMERMAN, - Int Ch Sh Ch Am Carnoustie Let The Game Begin (ai). So full of type, this Gordon is all male, looks like a weight-carrying hunter, and he can move.

4th the Viszla, CHIKáN, Mr Amadé Géza - Hun HR Ch Rom Slo Ch Euw Ww Bis Butterfly Hunter. So very typical and the right size and build. Well made, hard condition and uses him self so well on the move.

There is nothing better than judging dogs of this quality, thanks to all for the opportunity.
