I very much enjoyed spending the day with Fields. Many thanks to the Society members for voting for me. Blessed with a sunny day we were able to make use of a large grass ring. Judging was able to be quite leisurely, but still completed in good time.

Temperaments were, without exception, excellent. Judging Fields is full of compromise, there is a variety in type still. Whilst the breed should not be square in its proportions I felt a few were heading in the long and low wrong direction. A few rather short in leg, something that is creeping into many breeds. Mouths need care, some were just a little less than perfect.

I thought heads in the black males tended to be too short and heavy, but in the black females they were quite good. Feet and pasterns have never been a strong point, however I though most had the correct hocks, not as many too high as in the past.

Coat is the last thing to worry about, but I did think some could have been a bit better presented. However many were in super coat. I was mote than happy with my line ups and thought the main winners were excellent examples of our wonderful breed.

  V much a baby of 5 mths, she shows lots promise. Lengthy in head. She has v good proportions. Little slack in pasterns. Deep chest. Moderate rear. She moves v well.

 Super temperament. Liked his proportions. Quite a good head, doesn’t want to be any stronger. Medium neck. Well laid shoulder. Liked his width of chest. Level topline. Well ribbed back. Has quite good rear. Went well.

2ND 37 - Fecimus Joyful Story (Mrs K & Mr C Morris)

  He can just come up on leg a little. Strong head, could be longer. Lengthy neck. He is a little wide in front. Firm in topline. Uses his rear v well

 Just needs a little more leg for perfect proportions. He has the best head in class. Long neck. Well laid shoulder. Deep chest . Well ribbed back has a level topline. Moderate rear with low hocks. Once settled went v well.

2ND 55 - Brynnyth Elysian (Ms K J & Ms T M Young & Nunn)

 Liked his proportions, at a slightly gangly stge. Strong and masc head, just a bit wide in stop. Medium neck. Deepchest. He is well ribbed back. Level topline. Ok rear.

V easy profile mover. Would just like a little more leg length. Could be longer and leaner in head. Lovely eye and expression. Medium neck. Well laid shoulder. He could be firmer in pastern. Deep chest. Well ribbed back. More hind angulation than looks, and v well muscled. Uses his rear so well

2 dogs who are quite different, can understand why they might change places, each had their virtues.

1ST 50 - Irisbel The Greatest Showman at Tymora JW (Mrs Hj & Miss Sj Tye)

Quite good proportions, just a bit more leg would be ideal. Head could be longer and he is a little strong in skull. Long neck. Well laid shoulder with a long and sloping upper arm. V well ribbed back. Holds a firm topline. I liked his rear with low hocks. V typical mover.

2ND 40 - Gadhelic Jack Frost (Mrs L J Moss)

  He is slightly longer than tall. Has a v good field head, long, not too wide. Medium neck. Slightly forward in shoulder. For me he could have a bit more bond. Well ribbed back. Rear matches front. V sound mover.

 Still needs to mature in body. He has the crrect proportions for a field. Has a super head. Long, with correct width of skull, nicely chiselled. V good eye and expression. Has enough neck, a well laid shoulder, Could have a longer upper arm. Chest to elbow. Ribs go well back. Topline ok. Well bent stifle with low hocks. Accurate mover, with enough stride. Is a super type and once he matures I think will be hard to beat.

2ND 51 - Elgert King for A Day (Mrs D Wheeler)

He is v well made. Liked his head v much. Would just prefer more leg and less body length. Medium neck. Holds a firm topline. Moves v well.

Holds his topline. Could be more positive in hind action. Easy profile movement. Liked his proportions.

  Quite a good head, if a little deep in stop. Medium neck. He is quite well made and balanced front and rear. Well sprung ribs. Could be tidier out and back.

  Liked his proportions. Medium neck. Quite a good front just lost his topline moving. Deep chest. Well ribbed back. Moderate rear, low hocks. He could be more positive in hind action.

  Really lovely field. Excellent type. His profile movement is excellent, lovely easy stride and holds his outline so v well. Would prefer more muscle. V good head, correct planes. Lovely eyes and expression. Lengthy neck. Well laid shoulder. Well sprung ribs which go well back. Liked his topline. Moderate in rear. CC & BIS

 V good type d. He has a v good head, long, correct width skull. Enough neck. Well made front. As with 1 feet and pasterns could be better. Well ribbed back. Slightly too much length second thighs and not quite as positive in hind action as 1. In super muscle. Grand mature Field.

  V good type, would look and mover better with less weight. Has a v good head. Medium neck. Liked her depth body. Well ribbed back. Better hind action than 3.

  14 and a v good type. Liked her head and expression is so good. Medium neck . Moderate in angulation. Well ribbed, just carrying excess weight now.

 Delightful temperament. She has. Good head. Lengthy neck and. Well laid shoulder. Can develop in body, needs a little more width. Topline is ok. Well made rear.
