Best In Show

It was an absolute pleasure to judge BIS at the 2025 Richmond Championship show and I would like to thank the Officers and committee for the very kind invitation. Congratulations to Darren Clarke and his team for a very well-run show with the groups being judged every day in a very timely fashion. Richmond has always been a very favourite show of mine and fondly remember the days at Ascot taking part in the JHA semis that were once an integral part of the show itself.

Best in Show today went to the Whippet, Ch Ranveli Diki Diki owned by Mr R Wheeler and sent through from the group by Mary Pascoe. He never put a foot wrong today with his steady, easy ground covering action holding his outline in profile and was perfectly true on the out and back. On the table I found him in the most wonderful condition, well-muscled and optimum in body. His coat and skin being fine and close in texture. He is well filled in front with deep brisket and the desired graceful arch over the loin flowing into perfectly balanced hindquarters. On the floor he stands over a lot of ground with ease and with no exaggeration. Quietly unassuming, there is no flash or dash, but he is absolute quality through and through.

Reserve Best in Show and running the winner very closely was the Papillon bitch Multi Ch / Ch Uppercut Daydream Believers With Feorlig (Imp), owned by Mrs K Ryan, Miss K Roosens and Mr J Goessens and sent through from the group by Miss B Evans. Have judged her as a youngster but have never seen her look as good as she does currently and I can quite understand why she is making quite a name for herself. She is now very much the finished article and is in the most wonderful coat and condition. Her head, expression and ears are absolutely beautiful and there is very little to change on the table. She has style in abundance and carries herself with an air of importance. On her final circuit she just got a little over exuberant for a split second and faltered slightly which clinched the decision in favour of the Whippet who continued to put on a foot perfect show.
