BP 311 - Star at Station (Mrs K J & Mr G Bovio)

I’ve owned this breed for over 20 years and this was my first appointment giving tickets - it’s an odd feeling to be responsible for handing out the big green cards having watched many others doing so and it gives a completely different perspective. I had a lovely, if damp, day so thank you very much to the society for inviting me and for those exhibitors that entered and braved the rain to attend. Thanks also to “Bob” my steward on the day. I didn’t have the biggest entry but overall I was pleased with the quality of the exhibits. I observed that eye colour was good across the entry, muscle was abundant, coats and skin were excellent and the condition of the exhibits was very good. There were no level head planes, incorrect toplines, slack pasterns, hare feet or general lack of substance that I have seen in other entries recently.

1ST 327 - Testaverde Deal or No Deal (Mr G & Mrs D M Mackay)

A nice type, he just needs to body up, which should come in in time. Correct head planes and dentition. Depth of chest was ok. As was the shoulder angulation. Correct top and underlines with a good tail set. Good coat but could have been a shade lighter in colour. Not bad rear angulation. Moved well in all directions but without any enthusiasm.

1ST 326 - Sh Ch Inostricani Bell Ragazzo via Krismoor JW (Miss C J Littlemore)

This is a lovely dog who has matured nicely – very obviously a male without being too heavy. Correct head planes and proportions, good scissor bite. Strong neck, plenty of depth and width of chest. Good shoulder angulation. Plenty of upper arm with lots of elbow room which showed in his reaching front movement. Good rear angulation. Correct topline and underline. Thick skin and good coat texture. Presented with lots of muscle and in great condition. Moved accurately with lots of reach and drive – effortlessly covering the ground. Easily BOB today.

2ND 312 - Diggmere Tiger Swallowtail JW (Mrs S Duncan)

Another quality exhibit. The wording on a RCC says “worthy of the title of champion” and I truly believe that to be true for this male. Lovely orange colouring. Correct bite and head planes. Good front assembly and depth of chest. Good coat and skin but I would have preferred a little more coat on his legs. Correct topline and more square than 1st. Rear angulation was good. Moved really well and handled beautifully..

1ST 311 - Star at Station (Mrs K J & Mr G Bovio)

This is a promising puppy who will be one to watch when she matures. Nice feminine head with the correct planes. A little bit of an overbite at the moment but plenty of time for that to come right. Good depth and width of chest. Nice and square in outline with the correct top and underlines. Good rear angulation. Correct tail set but she was very proud of it on the move. Lots of muscle and a nice colour. A little loose on the move as you’d expect from a puppy but otherwise ok.

 2ND 321 - Inostricani Mabel (Mrs A & Mr D Kay)

Not at all a bad exhibit but today she was a just a baby that wanted to play. Good head with correct planes and 50:50 proportions. Correct scissor bite. Better shoulder angulation than 1st. Correct outline but a little exaggerated in the topline for me. Good rear angulation, nice wide croup and correct tail set. Very good coat and skin. Extremely erratic on the move (perhaps the small inside ring didn’t give her enough time to settle).

148. Italian Spinone - Junior Bitch

1ST 310 - Ilsolo Chewbacca (Mrs K J & Mr G Bovio)

This girl had a nice expression, good head planes, correct dentition and correct ear set. She had plenty of depth & width of chest but I would have preferred better shoulder angulation. She was square in outline with the correct topline. She had a good coat with the correct shade of brown roan. Rear angulation was ok but I would have preferred more width of 2nd thigh. Movement was OK but without any enthusiasm.

2ND 316 - Karankawa Kashira (Miss S A Hutt)

This bitch needs to mature and fill out. She has a lovely head with correct scissor bite. Correct topline but was slightly longer than square. Nice coat and plenty of thick skin. Good rear angulation. Preferred her movement in profile over 1st but there needs to be more of her.

1ST 314 - Sanjika Kanga (Mr S, Mrs S & Miss R Griffin)

I don’t think this bitch was enjoying being inside the tent and she just didn’t want to stand properly for her handler. Lovely head and expression with the correct head planes and proportions. Enough depth and width of chest and good front assembly. Correct topline on the move. Plenty of thick skin and her coat is excellent in texture. Good rear angulation and muscled throughout. Moved really well in profile.

1ST 309 - Princess Pea (Miss R Bovio)

Really like this bitch. Good head proportions and divergent planes with an expression that said “take me home!” Good dentition and ear set. Short neck, good shoulder angulation, plenty of room between the shoulder blades and lots of elbow room. Good length of upper arm. Breed typical outline without being exaggerated. Good rear angulation. Correct tailset but she was a little proud of it on the move. Good coat. Moved accurately in all directions and with drive.

 2ND 323 - Quebaikei Heather 'n' Honey for Oaklaw (Mr P & Mrs E Lawton)

This is a very nice spinone who I’ve watched maturing well over the last year or so. Another lovely head with the correct scissor bite. Good shoulder angulation with plenty of upper arm. Correct top and underline. Good coat and skin. Plenty of rear angulation and particularly well muscled. Moved well in profile. Beat third on movement.

1ST 322 - Quebaikei Accossato for Oaklaw (Mr P & Mrs E Lawton)

Yet another girl with a particularly nice head and expression. Good depth & width of chest, with plenty of elbow room. Correct topline. Was slightly longer than square but had a good strong loin. Correct tail set. Great coat. Ok rear angulation. Won on overall balance and better front movement - accurate to & from.

 2ND 313 - Sanjika Jakira (Mr S, Mrs S & Miss R Griffin)

Correct head shape and proportions, correct dentition. Good shoulder angulation. Stacked this bitch had better body proportions than 1st. Another excellent coat.. Presented in excellent condition with lots of muscle. Good rear angulation. Moved really well in profile.

  3RD 328 - Lucoru Spring Into Step (Mrs M & Mr M Mccrave)

I don’t usually do a critique on third place but wanted to say that this is a very nicely put together bitch who moves well. However, her grooming let her down here. Totally spoiled her shape in profile and thus, she had to be placed down the line.

RES 320 - Annilann Floozie at Fossundale (Mrs A & Mr D Kay)

153. Italian Spinone - Open Bitch

1ST 319 - Sh Ch Inostricani Fianna ShCEx (Mrs K A James)

This girl has a nice head, with the correct proportions and planes. Good shoulder angulation but I would have preferred more width of chest. Stacked she was slightly longer than square but has the typical spinone topline. Plenty of skin and a nice coat. Good rear angulation. Moved really well in all directions. Presented in tip top condition. She is a worthy show champion.
