RICHMOND CH SHOW

English Springer Spaniels

It is 7 years since I last judged the breed & I was very interested to see the progress of the breed. Thank you for the entry & it was a very interesting day. Thanks too to my stewards who kept us on time.

VD (2,1a) 1 Woodbridge's Crackerjanne Court Jester, it doesn't seem possible that this lovely boy is now nearly 9. One I have known since a puppy, who was sired by one of my favourite dogs. He is so typical & moved so well, excellent head & expression with well set ears, good neck & a correct topline & well made hindquarters, good depth & width of ribcage & a strong loin. He was beautifully presented to show off his best parts & his coat was in good condition. Lovely bone & feet. So lovely to see him here & looking so well. BV & thrilled he made the cut in the veteran group. MPD (0) PD (0) JD (5) 1 Walker's Dexbenella Livin The Dream, just out of puppy but developed beyond his age, he is well coated & beautifully presented, a lovely type who is balanced & quality. He has so much potential from his good head & lovely kind eye & well set ears, his head just needs to finish to complete the picture, good neck & shoulders & well carried topline & tailset, moved so well on well boned legs & strong feet in this lovely class of youngsters who must have a good future, 2 Allery's Daenerys Playing With Fire, slightly older l/w who today thought it great fun to play up on the move but he is a good type who needs time to complete the picture, he is just as a youngster should be, again a lovely head with a good eye & muzzle, his head is balanced leading into a good neck & shoulders, set up held his topline & good footfall up & back but in profile he needed to settle & hold his topline but he was put down in excellent coat & condition;

3 Turrell's Forgespring Tomfoolery. YD (2) 1 D Livin The Dream; 2 Hill's Teignvalley New Beginnings JW, good looking b/w who is just right for age, with lovely pigment & a kind eye, all he needs is more strength in hindquarters on the move to complete the picture, lovely head & expression, he was put down in excellent coat & condition which had been beautifully presented. Moved well but just not the extension at present but he is well made & I feel he will get even better as time goes on, for he has much potential & I look forward to seeing him when he finishes. ND (0) PGD (1,1) LD (6) 1 Rowlinson's Meltarose Midshipman, this l/w is not a flashy boy but he is so sound & typical, he is a lovely type & quality all through, his head patterns made me smile as they are just right & his eye & expression is just as it should be, he has a kind demeanour to his look with his good skull & well set ears & good length of neck into excellent forequarters, held a strong topline & a well set tail both set up & moving, good depth & width of ribcage & a strong loin & good hindquarters, he is balanced but not an over large dog but he just kept drawing me back for his correctness & type. RCC in strong competition, but well deserved; 2 Mitchell's Peasblossom Changes, this l/w is very finished & of course excellent presentation on a good coat, a good type & I see sired by my BOB but not quite as ready nor balanced as he is. He is well boned with an attractive head & expression, slightly different in look to what I am used to for this kennel but still correct with a good shaped eye & correct pigment, again a good neck & forequarters which gave the required front movement & strong hindquarters drove him with ease around the ring; 3 Weyman's More Than Amazing Wanna Be A Gangster at Spuffing. OD (5) 1 Mitchell's Sh Ch Peasblossom Xanti, b/w stunning dog I have never seen before, he is quality & I just loved his head & expression from beautiful kind eyes of a lovely colour with excellent pigmentation, well set ears of a good length, excellent neck & shoulders, strong topline & loin with a well set & carried tail, good ribcage & good hindquarters, where he wins is on his correct movement, up & back textbook but in profile he gives you goosebumps with his correct footfall & head carriage. excellent coat put down in excellent condition, he is balanced & he just thrilled me. CC & BOB; 2 Topliss' Sh Ch Sandylands Stand N Deliver, different stamp on this l/w but he is balanced & moved well, a worthy champion who was well presented with a correct coat & condition, lovely balanced head & expression, a kind eye & a good muzzle, well carried ears, moved well on well boned legs & feet, another quality dog from this kennel; 3 Topliss' Sh Ch Beresford Lockdown. BD (2,1) 1 D Playing With Fire. Best Special Beginner.

VB (2) 1 Hydon's Ir Sh Ch Clentonian Pandemonium Jw Shcex Osw Vw, lovely moving b/w from the top drawer, in lovely coat & condition, she is balanced with well boned legs & feet, pretty head & expression, good eye of a nice colour, good neck & shoulders, held a good topline with a well set & carried tail, good hindquarters & doesn't look her 8 years, showed so well to win here; 2 West's Grosbreuil Abricot Regal, l/w balanced girl who was very close up to 1, she too had a good coat put down in lovely condition, pretty head & expression, moved well on well boned legs & feet keep the correct shape, she too is balanced & a typical ESS of over 9 but doesn't look it. MPB (1) 1 Hill's Peasblossom Emotions with Teignvalley, what a lovely b/w absolute baby, she is well made & put down in lovely coat & condition, such a pretty head which obviously needs to mature but it is all there, such a kind expression from well shaped eyes, good proportions to her head framed by well covered ears, well made but just needs to finish but of course she is so young but she is quality & I look forward to seeing her progress. Moved as a baby but she was trying so hard that she made me smile, good body proportions, she could win anywhere. BP. PB (0) JB (9,2) 1 Topliss' Beresford Stand On Ceremony, more developed than her brother this l/w at 15 months is just right for age & size, set up she is balanced & holding a strong topline but where she wins in on the profile movement, she caught my eye on her first move round the ring & I kept coming back to her. She is quality with a beautiful head & expression, lovely neck, shoulders & forequarters, well boned legs & feet, not overdone in any way but she is a lovely girl with potential; 2 Walker's Dexbenella A Million Dreams, it is always interesting to have the chance to judge litter mates & her brother won his classes earlier, she is very mature & coped well with a change of handler on the move, strong body & bone, she is well coated & presented to the minute, lovely head & expression, she is quality & another who will have fun in the coming months, as competition with the girls is very interesting, I am sure all these are going to change places many times over the coming months; 3 Weyman's Spuffing Bellini. YB (4,1)1 Hill's Teignvalley Rags To Riches JW, very pretty b/w balanced girl who showed & moved well to win here, she is very typical & has such a pretty head & expression with good pigmentation & a kind correctly coloured eye giving a good expression, lovely neck & shoulders, correct topline held on the move with the correct forward movement, in lovely coat & condition; 2 Proctor's Forgespring Nobody's Fool at Blissenbea, at present slightly longer cast than 1 but with maturity I am sure she will tighten up for she is well made all through & a good type, lovely presentation of a correct coat. Another b/w with a lovely head & expression who moved correctly & with style, particularly looking good in profile movement with a good head carriage; 3 Taubman's Meonstoke Wild Thyme. NB (3) 1 Stevenson's Spuffing Daiquiri at Gaolachcara, l/w such a baby as she is only just over a year but so full of quality & breed type, unplaced in a strong junior class but held her own here & was able to shine through. A pretty head which just needs to finish with a lovely eye giving a good expression, well made all through & she moved really well for one so young really trying to please her handler, in lovely coat well presented; 2 De Carteret's Dexbenella Believin Dreams at Derrindee, b/w again a good type, put down in lovely coat & condition, she is balanced & just right for age for she too is just over a year. Needs to finish & I am sure when she tightens up & is steadier on the move she will do well. Very feminine in outlook. PGB (5,1) 1Topliss' Shersona I Believe In Angels at Beresford, balanced b/w who was well presented with a good coat of a good correct texture, where she comes alive is on the move with the correct forward movement & strong hindquarters & good head carriage she really covered the ring with ease despite the uneven ground, making it look so easy, lovely head & expression with a good, kind eye & lovely pigmentation, held a strong topline with a good loin & well set & carriage tail; 2 Gledhill's Dexbenella Dream Of Dreams, pleased to help her for I know it is natural for ESS to pace but it becomes a habit & we were able to get her to move correctly & win a good place in this good class, not an overlarge bitch but she is balanced & has a lovely feminine head & expression & a correctly shaped eye, lovely earset & neck, good forequarters, showed well; 3 Glass' Cobhay Rosa Meg. LB (5,3) 1 Weyman's Spuffing Prosecco, l/w balanced bitch of quality, put down in excellent coat & condition, a nice type who I don't remember seeing before & I was very impressed, loved her body proportions, topline & tailset, feminine head & expression, good neck & forequarters, excellent hindquarters & she moved with such style & grace that you couldn't miss her, showed well using her lovely head carriage & well boned legs & feet; 2 Proctor's Petranella Perfick Bliss at Blissenbea, sired by my best veteran this l/w has lots of quality about her, enough neck but a good topline & well set tail, good ribcage & strong loin, feminine in outlook & moved OK on well boned legs & feet. OB (4) 1 Taubman's Meltarose Madeleine at Meonstoke, beautiful l/w who caught my eye on the first move round the ring & then kept calling me back, I know now why she so appealed for she was litter sister to the RDCC & has so many of his qualities that obviously appeal to me. Put down in excellent coat & condition, she is balanced & of a type that appealed for her good body proportions & her feminine head & expression, well shaped eyes of a good colour, lovely neck & shoulders, correct topline & well set & carried tail, moved correctly & just stole the class & CC from 2, how lucky was I to have 2 such fine examples of the breed in one class, thank you; 2 Smith's Sh Ch Melverly Vignette, has everything I look for in the breed with the plus of a docked tail! Shame for it means she never gets to Crufts for I think she is a winner. Beautiful head & expression. She balanced & quality & again matched 1 step for step in movement making it the hardest class of the day to judge for I wish I had had 2 CCs, they are both from the top drawer & I am very lucky to have them both in the class for me to judge. RCC; 3 Walker's Sh Ch Dexbenella Double Or Quit. BB (2,2)
