Breed: Spaniel (Clumber)
Junior Dog (1) 1ST Crittenden’s Malbecmogs Tiger Eyes A very nice young dog of good proportions, presenting a balanced outline with correct length-to-height ratio and an overall impression of strength. He has a very pleasing head with a strong, square skull, a defined stop, and a well-developed, square muzzle. Eyes are clean and dark, showing a touch of haw, but still maintaining a soft, typical expression. He has a strong, well-set neck of good length, leading into well-laid shoulders with a good return of upper arm. Bone is strong and he stands on large, round feet. His body is long, with a deep chest and well-sprung ribs. Hindquarters are well bent at the stifle, though he would benefit from more angulation into the hock. Hocks are well let down, and tail is correctly set. He moved straight and true in front, though rear movement was somewhat disjointed and close on the day. Res BD Post Graduate Dog (1) 1ST Lovell Clumbraise Your Song (Imp Nor) A strong, masculine dog who presents with a plain white body and a few lemon markings, in keeping with breed colouring. He has a strong, square skull with a deep stop, a square muzzle, and well-developed flues. Eye is clear, though showing a touch of haw, and pigmentation is pink. Neck is strong and well set into a nicely laid shoulder with a good return of upper arm. He has good bone, though his feet could be tighter and rounder, and he would benefit from standing more up on his toes to enhance his outline. The body is deep, with well-sprung ribs carried well back. His topline rises slightly over the croup. He has good depth of thigh, though the rear could benefit from a little more angulation into the hock. Hocks are well let down. On the move, he showed good reach and stride in front, though he was a little close behind. BD. Special Beginners (1) 1ST Crittenden Malbecmogs Tiger Eyes repeat. Post Graduate Bitch (1) 1ST Lovell’s Abbyford Lady Merry of Ivale Res BB A nicely balanced bitch with good bone and overall substance. She has a strong, square skull with heavy brows, a deep stop, and a square muzzle with well-developed flues, all contributing to a typical and pleasing head. Neck is fairly long, well set, and strong, flowing into sloping shoulders with a good return of upper arm. She has short, straight legs, although her feet could be tighter and more rounded. Body is well ribbed with good spring, and she shows correct angulation at the rear with a well-bent stifle and hocks that are well let down. On the move she impressed with strong drive from the rear and moved straight both fore and aft, using her hocks to advantage. Open Bitch (1) 1ST Matthews & Moon’s Vanitonia Song and Dance JW BB and BOB A bitch who simply oozes breed type. At two years old, she is beautifully mature and has the most wonderful quality coat — dense, weatherproof, and with a silky texture that reflects true Clumber working ability. She gives an overall impression of strength while maintaining femininity and balance. She has a strong, square skull with a defined brow and deep stop. The square muzzle, well-pigmented nose, and soft, pleasing expression are classic and correct. Ears are well set and correctly feathered. Her strong neck flows into well-laid, sloping shoulders with good return of upper arm. Elbows are correctly placed, and she has a well-developed forechest. Legs are short and straight with good bone, leading to strong pasterns and tight, round feet. She has excellent depth and spring of rib, a correct body length, and a tight coupling. Her topline rises slightly over a strong, broad loin — all in keeping with breed standard. She has powerful, well-developed hindquarters with low-set hocks. On the move, she demonstrated strength and drive, moving with purpose and excellent use of her hocks. A quality bitch with substance and style — fully deserving of Best of Breed. Judge Penny Gowland
