WELSH KENNEL CLUB 14/08/25 Judge: Rachel Barney HOUND GROUP My sincere thanks to the Officers & Committee of the Welsh Kennel Club for their invitation to judge the Hound Group. I thoroughly enjoyed my day & had a very strong, quality group to judge with only a couple of exhibits missing. My winner was the magnificent Irish Wolfhound, Tebbutt’s Ch Caredig Mafioso. As the breed standard says “of great size, strength, symmetry & commanding appearance, very muscular, yet gracefully built” this dog fits this description completely, plus he moves out with a fabulous easy gait & to get all of this in a dog of this size is just superb. Group 2 was the young PBGV, Robertson’s Ch Soletrader Fomo, I recently awarded her BIS at the Basset Griffon Vendeen Club Ch show, & thought what an exciting young bitch she was. She has an excellent front, with tight elbows & prominent sternum. Well muscled hindquarters which she used so well on the move, she was a joy to watch. Group 3 was the Afghan Hound Ch Saxonmill Mirror Image, owned by Dowd & Malia. Lovely head & expression, well laid shoulders, super body & long hindquarters, beautiful on the move. Group 4 was Parson’s Ch Priorpark Proof in Pudding, Rhodesian Ridgeback, I judged her last year as a 6 month old puppy & loved her then, she has fulfilled that early promise. I also shortlisted the Basset Fauve de Bretagne, Ch Dyfrgi’s Explosion W With Soletrader (Swed Imp), Beagle, Ch Eardley Ready For Anything, Long Haired Dachshund, Ch Cavillibrook Final Fling & Smooth Haired Dachshund Ch & Ir Ch Glenariff You’re Excused Cwmdarhian.
